      Yes you are absolutely right that Fickey says to do this everyday.
      I forgot to mention in the video that I used to do it every day in the beginning of summer. I live in sweden and we dont have a tropical climate here. Therefore, I only do it every 4 days now. Plus I feel as if my curls have been trained a little bit to look a certain way now so I dont need to do the washing process as often😊 . It gets super cold over here and letting your hair air dry in cold weather is not ideal for your hair.
      I rambled a bit but I hope I answered your question. J
      I would recommend that you start out doing it everyday for 3-4 weeks and then slowly start increasing the amount of days you skip washing your hair ❤ thank you so much for watching🌻

      Welcome to my channel🌺 The quickest way to dry my hair is with a diffuser or hooded dryer. I always use a medium to cool setting and I dry it in the mornings until it is 90 % dry then let the rest air dry.
      Another way to dry it fast would be to use less product but this is something that comes with time. In the beginning you use alot of product for this style. After 3-4 months of consistent wash n go's you use alot less product.

    Hello Mrs. Z. Are you still doing this wash and go? I love it! My only issue is getting my hair to dry. 😞 I sit under the dryer for an hour or more, and the inside of my hair remains wet. I use a diffuser for my roots, but it still takes me thirty minutes or more to diffuse. If you are still doing this method, how do you dry? You and your hair are beautiful. Thank you kindly for sharing and God bless!

  • @sweets12345
    @sweets12345 3 роки тому +4

    Ms. Z, you don't ever have to use an oil based product in your hair? I noticed the Paul Mitchell and the hair gel do not contain oil. Am I correct in thinking that your hair stays moisturized do to just the water from the wash and go? I see other people using creams, and sometimes oils to seal in moisture. Thank you kindly for sharing how the wash and go method works for you. Your hair is simply gorgeous. 😊

    • @zanzibanzigirl
      @zanzibanzigirl  3 роки тому +4

      I NEVER use an oil in my hair to seal in moisture because oil only causes frizz in my hair. Instead I use a small amount of curl-activating gel (the one from worlds of curls) for refreshing my hair.
      I also make sure to really deep condition my hair so it is moisturized before I add the gel to avoid dry hair.
      I find that using gel for a long period of time is drying to the hair. So I am currently on the lookout for other stylers that provide hold that are not gels. I have seen women (with type 4 hair) achieve this wash n go look with only curlstylers. I believe that doing wash n gos often to train your hair to coil a certain plays a part of getting a good wash n go.Thank you so much for watching and I hope the technique works well for your hair. Please let me know If you have tried any curlstylers that provide hold for you that isn't gel🌺

      5 mins sounds like a breeze! If you are referring to how long before I washed out the deep conditioner, I slept with it in my hair. It’s not something I do normally was just very tired when making this tutorial.
      I wash my hair every 5-7 days if you were referring to that. Thanx for watching🌺

    What do you recommend for folks who don't use gel? Gel really dries and damages my hair. Is there an alternative?

    • @zanzibanzigirl
      @zanzibanzigirl  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, i recommend using a curling custard. I have used one from Mielle Organics - pomegranate and honey sculpting custard and it gave the same definition but less hold. But it's totally worth it in the long run as hels do dry our hair out🌺

    Does this have better results the more you do it? I did it once and had to use a diffuser to finish, pineappled my sections and it came out still slightly damp and an afro. Maybe I should invest in a hooded dryer, or I have to do this method more frequently?

    Awesome video on the Anthony Dickey method....but you said you went to sleep in your deep conditioner did you sleep in it overnight? Also, did you air dry or use a sit under hair dryer during the drying process at any time?

      Thank you so much🌺 I ler nu hair airdry for several hours maybe 7 if i remember cortectly, then finished och with a few minutes under a hooded dryer (10 min on low heat).
      I did go to bed with the deepconditioner and slept with the deepconditioner in my hair then rinsed out the next day. I hope this answers your questions and good luck. I'm sure you'll love your results🌺

    Hi! I followed the instruction to use A LOT of leave in and now my hair has white residue. Any ideas in what to change? I used the Mielle pomegranate and honey leave in and styling custard.

    • @zanzibanzigirl
      @zanzibanzigirl  3 роки тому +2

      Hi 😊 unfortunately the only thing I can recommend is to use another leave in. I experience a lot of white residue with mielle when I use a lot of it. Paul Mitchell the conditioner is one of my staples that never leaves a white residue when it dries 😊

      Sooooooooo I started blow drying/ blow out on my hair after every wash day (a youtuber with long beautiful 4c does) I have no tangles, less shed and can see growth. Well in doing this my wng (and all my natural hairstyles) turn out beautifully. Waaaaay less shrinkage! I never thought I could rock a wng without looking like a little kid but now I wear them all the time... normal wash day routine, I wear my blowout for a day or 2, then on dry hair I do a gel only with 'African Pride Moisture Miracle Curl Defining Gel'... it's so moisturizing and defining and it last more than a week

    How long does this take to do in the shower and how long does it take to dry?

    • @zanzibanzigirl
      @zanzibanzigirl  3 роки тому

      It really depends on how long you want to leave the deep conditioner in your hair. For me If I leave the deep conditioner in my hair for 15 minutes it will take 1hr 30 maybe.
      It takes my hair from morning 9 ish to evening 9 ish to dry if I stay inside (COVID ) if I go outside it saves me probably 3-4 hrs of drying time

      I do this every 4 days to get the best results. You can increase the amount of times according to how much time you have. Sometimes I can stretch it to 7 days, but then the hair tends to get a bit frizzy.

    Dang ... I don't think I'm up for risking a concussion or spending all my coins on conditioner just 2 b able to say I have curly hair. My idea of w-n-go is: wash/condition my hair, slap in some leave in and ugh ... go. If it can't be that simple, I can't be bothered. The world can just adjust to my kinky hair.

      I dont want anyone watching this video to risk getting a concussion. We have the same idea of what a wash n go is 😊 I'm just demonstrating one of the techniques a person can use for their wash n go. I prefer this technique because it gives nice results on my hair and doesnt take alot of time to style. I have used the shingling method before and that takes forever😂😂😂. Im mot a fan of trying to get my hair to curl or look a certain way which is another reason which I like this method. It brings out your natural curl/coil pattern...Anyhow thank you for watching 🌺
