Ramsey, I’m commenting this because my husband won’t. The app doesn’t connect to tv’s. You should get a streaming app so middle age/ older people (your demographic) can actually watch or listen. Coming from someone who actually downloaded the app.

Rebecca continue to use the credit card. That study doesn't apply to those who are using their card responsibly. U earned extra rewards from what u would normally spend on. U can't beat that. Dave u can't always be right... she's doing just fine!!!
Precisely! I'm retired(my husband still works full time), although my occupation is to save money on the essentials for our family of three, which includes our special needs adult son. I currently use two credit cards for cash back in the range Rebecca is receiving. I jump through more hoops at the grocery store trying to get the biggest bang for my buck than I do managing our bank accounts. This is my side hustle, lol. No eating out, no alcohol, no concert/theater/sporting event tix, no Amazon Prime, no Iphones, no pets, no manicures and debt free.

I am a huge fan of the Ramsey show! I listen to you on the podcasts on my phone before bed and when I cant sleep. Your show is helping me deal with my finances situation and not having a job and saving what money I have.

I had been meaning not to listen religiously 5 days a week while driving the big rig. Im glad the show has been cut down. They did me a huge favor. The stupid callers were draining my the soul!

After reading all these comments, I think I'll refrain from downloading the app. I like The Ramsey show on UA-cam more than the other platforms. Fingers crossed they will bring back the last hour to YT. Why fix what's not broken, right?

@@SuperAdRiCh7but who says he is going to get richer? Sure he may THINK so, but ultimately the customers will decide..there is always some risk involved. We will see. For the record, I'm fine with a 1.5 hr show, but I haven't been a "loyal" listener for years. I just click on random episodes now and again.
@@TulsaDude They will refine the app to make it run smoother over time so it may draw people in once that happens. So many people apparently have downloaded it to find out that it's not good so the demand is there. I only listen to episodes mostly at work to pass the time as I'm working and personally I prefer to listen to the personalities than to Dave himself but no hate. Overall personally he really did me a favor by having shorter episodes and I don't have any plans to download the app anyway 🙂

Omg I hate the app! I hate being forced into it to access the whole show. I hate how Ransey is acting like they are being so generous because it's free. I hate that when I try to go there to listen to the last part of today's show it's not there, yesterday's is the latest available. I hate hiw ramsey has begged people fir months to share subscribe etc on youtube and all the podcast platforms only to hold the show hostage on the app. I hate everything about it. So many content creators have pulled this move but I firmly believe that if you continued to fix bugs. People would slowly transition to your app anyways. Making them do it just annoys people

The app doesn't work. It stops working all the time. It restarts. It loses its spot. I would keep it on UA-cam until the app is running smoothly. It takes me all day to watch the last 40 minutes.
The credit v debit card argument @15:00 is very inconsistent. Dave says that you overspend the same way with any plastic - credit or debit card. Then the other guy guarantees that you spend less with debit than credit.
Agreed. It's possible to use a credit card, get an extra 20 bucks in rewards here and there, while still sticking to a written budget.
He acts like it's sooo much effort and brain power to get free money from rewards
I get the rewards on my American Express. I do spend more with my plastic. He is right but I need to up my income to feel secure enough to let my credit go.

Dave your website accepts credit cards!. One shoe doesn't fit everyone. You talked down to the lady. She won and you lost. You say Don't use credit cards but you accept them on your website. Im a self made millionare and I use credit cards.
I agree. In the case of the lady using a credit card, Dave acts like she's using SO much brain power and effort.
It's enirely reasonable to stick to a written budget, while using a credit card for necessities/bills while getting an extra 100 bucks a month in free money from cash back rewards. With literally zero effort

Good Lord Ramsey is obnoxious about credit cards. Tells people they're stupid for using credit cards to purchase necessities, then turns around and advertises for the Upside App "for necessary purchases." Not only is it bad advice for some people, it's wildly hypocritical.

Regarding the impulsive husband, my soon to be ex did the same thing. He said he “deserved” a brand new car every 2 years because he worked so hard. Problem was he was buying a car more than his annual salary and eating all the depreciation and then rolling negative equity into the next, more expensive, car. After we separated he bought a $140k Ram Truck at 8% interest and now he can’t afford child support. So glad I’m now on the Ramsey plan and fixing the mess he made of our financial lives.

@@sXePunkV2 What it has to do with that situation is this: NO ONE on the RS EVER hears the other side to the story before spouting off and if a woman calls in, they ALWAYS take her side of the story. I am a woman and what I would like to remind every woman calling in about the faults of her husband or ex is that SHE chose him. Look for the signs before signing the marriage certificate. They are always there - pay attention!

I just pulled money from my high yield savings to be debt free. I have mixed feelings. I also stopped my 401k contributions. I always bought stuff for zero percent interest and made money on my money. I always had the money to pay the debt, just collecting interest. I also stopped drinking a month ago, dang I'm going all in. Why do I feel like an idiot. Anyway I should save back fast with zero debt. I own my 9ac of land out right and still have 20k in savings.

I stick to a written "every dollar" budget, and i use CCs to get roughly 60 bucks a month in cash back.

@@sXePunkV2 She was not asking a question. She was pointing out a different point of view. One thing I can pretty much guarantee - she will not be calling in again and HUNDREDS of people who listened to this call lost a lot of respect for Dave and George unnecessarily due to their snarky response which could have been handled completely differently. A UA-cam video is not the same as a radio call. Radio calls disappear into thin air and can rarely be recalled. UA-cam videos are much more permanent and this response revealed a really ugly side of their personalities and business which is now preserved. They could have answered the call by calmly stating, "Well, you know we've done some research on this topic and this is what we've generally found to be true and why we don't promote using credit cards..." They chose NOT to do that and their response will hurt their business. After all, the "hated" banks are what we still use to get a mortgage (which they approve of) and they also advise in certain instances to get a low-interest personal loan to replace a debt. If they hate banks so much, why do they advise using a debit card at all? Not all of us live in an area where there is a credit union and I, for one, travel and am glad my bank is pretty much nationwide, whereas any local credit union is not and if I wanted cash from an ATM, I would have to pay a fee. They contradict themselves in many areas.

He also doesn’t LISTEN to her - because her actual question was “Why are credit cards bad?” He somehow thinks she’s passive aggressively stating that she beat the system (???). You know what, honestly Rebecca IS beating the system, because she says she only buys necessities, pays off her card, and never pays a cent of interest.

Not downloading the app. Watch the show on YT. If I'm not allowed to watch the final 40 minutes of the show, with ads, so be it. I'm a pretty big fan of the show, in general, but there's plenty of other good content out there. Having 40 minutes lopped off and being forced to download an app doesn't feel right.
HOA's never go down. And the HOA can foreclose if you don't pay....that lady is in trouble.

Got the app but its not very user friendly!! The shows should be listed by date with today listed first. Its so confusing so I just said screw it and just watch what I can on youtube...

Yeah. a better response would be that there is a small minority that can game the credit card system. MOST times the credit card companies win but not every single time. Instead of telling her that her small SS check is barely enough to spit on.
@@JBJB992He has to take a stance on things to be consistent, but in order to stay that course he has to give bad advice to people that are smart with their money. Therefore, credit cards are always evil in the Ramsey world, even if people win with them.

I have listened to this show consistently for 4 years and have found it to be life changing! Honestly even if it was 30 min I’m grateful. The Ramsey show is still a business at the end of the day…for whatever reason the decision was right for their business model. I’m just glad the little bit that we get is free! 🎉🙏🏾
Because people don't like change, especially when it's "backwards" change from their perspective. It's like cutting a football game off at the 3rd quarter and saying you must download an app to finish watching. Yeah it's fully possible to do it, but it's annoying and petty because you already know they're rolling in profits...
Everyone’s mad about the show length. To be honest I usually just scroll around to different parts I like and hour is already a lot of content. Don’t lose focus on the ideas getting all bent out of shape about picky stuff like show length on platforms.
People don't like change, that's all it is. If it started this way, people wouldn't care as much

Good for you - you now qualify for the extremely overpriced cruise special which you can also get for about 1/4 of the price on the same ship, to the same places, in the same month if you can forego needing to be in the same space as the RS personalities and just be content reading the books and watching the videos instead. About the question of the day rant. There are times my boss comes by and says there's not a lot to work to do so go slow. Those are the days I hate the most.
I am certain that Dave referred to George as “Chad” at 55:59 . 🤣 I point this out, because I think that even I am guilty sometimes of putting guys like Dave up on a pedestal and letting myself believe that he doesn’t make mistakes. He does. And I know that he is the first to admit that, but little things like this make me feel a lot better about the fact that I make mistakes like this ALL the time. Also, Chad (I mean George) has become my favorite Ramsey personality! Keep up the great work!

What exactly is the difference between using a debit card versus a credit card? Nothing, to a responsible person. Dave and George should just be honest. There are stupid people who don’t pay their bills, and this does not affect other people who do.

The first caller…..if she was to go to work and get a small paycheck, would then social security take some of her money out of that social security money?
You can work up to a certain money limit before your benefit is reduced.
That depends on her age and how much she would earn from a part-time job. Social Security can reduce your retirement benefits if you work before reaching full retirement age and earn more than the yearly earnings limit. For 2024, the limit is $22,320 for people who aren't yet at full retirement age, and $59,520 for people who reach full retirement age in 2024. For every $2 you earn above the limit, the Social Security Administration (SSA) deducts $1 from your benefit payments. One advantage of continuing to work that most people don't realize is that if your early working years (in the total that are counted for your benefit) were at really low pay and you earn more currently than you did then (adjusted for inflation), Social Security will replace the early year's earnings with the current year's earnings in figuring your total benefit. That happened to me. I took Social Security at age 67, but kept working part-time. My part-time earnings were more (even adjusted for inflation) than my earliest years' earnings and so that bumped up my total benefit. If I had it to do over again, though, I would have drawn from my investments first and waiting to take Social Security until age 70. This show consistently states not to count on Social Security. But doing away with Social Security would be entirely untenable politically. It may be reduced, but it is my belief that it will be there for the foreseeable future. The tricky part about when to take Social Security is that none of us knows exactly the year we will die...
She can make up to 23K before she gets one less dollar for every two earned over that. If she has reached full retirement age there is no limit

are you asking how you would pay the annual taxes/insurance that normally would go into escrow? most people would set that aside monthly to pay off the lump sum yearly.

You pay your local/state govt property taxes every year no matter what. you pay your insurance provider if they provide coverage for your house. Mortgage and taxes and insurance are different things paid to different entities. if you don't pay taxes then the govt will take your property.
