Absolutely love my flush mount scissor lift. (Different brand). Concrete guys never get the base perfectly flat; flat chisel and layer of high pressure concrete mix took care of it: Fishing line run through the conduits aided in my measuring of the to long hose runs I needed to have made. And the best thing. My race deck flooring was cut to create a uniform gap/look around the platforms. Enjoy the heck out of it. Nothing better than a smooth floor area to walk around once the lift is down.
Love the video! I feel like making these measurements in cm or mm would make it a lot easier and less confusing (this is coming from an American too because using feet and inches sucks)
Matt, I can't imagine living a day in your stressful perfect world! 😂 I'm very much a perfectionist, but don't come anywhere near your level. I had to get everything right for 3 flush mounted lifts at work and about had a stoke. I feel your pain. Good jobs guys!
When I poured my garage slab in June, I used nussbaums rendering on how the “plug” should look like and made two plugs out of form-plywood! I still have the rendering in case you want to look at it, because the pipe for the hydraulic hoses to my lift is way different! It’s in metrics tho. Great work by the way and greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
I know what you mean about hydraulic hoses. I eventually purchased my own Parker hydraulic hose crimper, that’s portable so I won’t have to put up with the hydraulic shops and their really expensive prices and sometimes bad attitude. I work on heavy equipment so it saves me some much time from running to the shop for every broken line.
Love how this is coming together. I would always have the concrete set lower for the lift and then use the self-leveling. That allows you to dial it in for perfection. Even if the concrete is only off a couple of baby lines, it's still off. And if it's too high...
Mike is ridiculously handy. What did he do prior? I mean, a walk behind concrete saw is no joke. Too bad you guys didn’t have bigger power or you could have gotten an electric saw. Our contractors use those in occupied office buildings where we can’t have fumes.
This has to be one of the best videos of the series, this is becoming one of the ultimate garages/workshops. One question with the list pump in the cabinet how would you access the fluid refill point and dipstick with it in the cabinet?
Matt, lots of screwing around but the next one will go 1-2-3 the end result looks awesome! I think it's time to come up with an OG oil/hydraulic fluid 🛢️resistant quick deploy tarp for these situations. Use some CRC QD electronic cleaner spray to make quick cleanup of that spilled hydraulic fluid on the controls. Didn't you do a SEMA video back in 2019-2020 with a company that had a bag of some oil fluid absorbent material that will leave the floor spotless after 24 hours?
It’s just too funny to hear you guys talk about measurements….1/4, 1/8, 1/16th…wow! You gotta jump on the metric bandwagon, decimals are way easier! That said, I’m jealous of that shop…keep it up!!!
If I get nothing else from this video, it’s that murica’s measuring system is dumb. We should switch to metric and get smart like the rest of the world.
@@ObsessedGarage - I hear you. It is possible to vaccinate the concrete floor against stains, and only polish the floor with grit #800 to avoid it getting too slippery. You fill the floor with chemicals so that there isnt more room for the stains. Still, not sure this is your style though.
Couldn’t you have just cut the bottom out of the cabinet and put the pump on the floor and dropped the cabinet over it? Obviously there would probably still need to be some trimming, but that seems like it would have been so much easier.
I guess the Warranty on this Hydraulic Pump was was void before it even started to work, after cutting it to fit. This is not a video to be proud of.I won't have posted this at all.
Made my head hurt listening to you guys trying to work out measurements. Then complain about hydraulic lines & getting hands dirty ….. wasn’t sure if you forgot to put your skirts on that day 😂 Wouldn’t it make sense to custom make a galvanised folded bucket base with lip for the lift to recess into so you remove the contractor concrete pour issue plus contains any spills.
I have OCD and this Matt guy drives me nuts. I’ll explain, if you have OCD, then you wouldn’t be using this shitty ass Swiss deck flooring. Traps dirt, water, debris etc. polish or epoxy or ceramic tile the floor. Not cheap shitty laminate or plastic Swiss. Should of gotten a in-ground 2 post, not this scissor platform lift. Gotta love a guy that has all the answers and can’t even install jack blocks on his old GT350 lmao. I feel your pain Mike.
@@ObsessedGarage lol really? So because you’re ok with using Swiss deck flooring and that the dirt and debris trapped under it means it’s not ocd? I’m obsessed with cleanliness and organizing. So much so, that I clean my house and garage daily with tack cloths to remove any dust. Just because you’re ok with one thing, doesn’t mean it’s ok with another who suffers with the same mental illness. I get the perfection thing, I like things to be perfect, such as making or measuring things. I like them to the thousand’s of an inch. But to complain about a in floor lift to be perfectly flush with the Swiss deck, knowing the lift rocks and will never be perfectly level with the floor is funny even to me.
That dude is a beast, he should be the highest paid employee period
Mr PP Dribbler
sell the install service, piece of mind is priceless.
This garage build is absolutely magnificent. What a joy to watch it all come together. There seems to be no problems that Mike can't solve.
Love the chemistry between Matt and Mike.
Mike F baby !!!! Love this frickin guy !!! Keep teachin brother !!!
Only a few people will appreciate Mike F's "You're the Bob Vila of OG Garage" reference.
Flush mounted is totally boss, love it. The panel integrated in the Sonic cabs is slick AF. THIS really is the best you guys have done to date.
I like the final result with the control panel mounted on the Sonic door. Top notch custom install. WIN for Mike! Hope you feel good about yourself.
Done. I’m building a garage in a few months and I will be doing this. Love it!!!
It looks incredible! Installing the lift this way changes everything.

Really enjoy seeing the process of you guys always figuring things out, how to improve, etc. The "chase" is half the fun!

I never comment but I just had to say this video was so relaxing after a long day at work

After seeing the finish product, and seeing it was made in Germany,I could be sold on it.

Metrics. So much easier. five eighths minus three sixteens and add one quarter. WTF? too confusing.
Mike is really great in the videos.

You should make a set of engineering drawing for in-ground lift layout that you can supply customers.

You can slide the pump back out of the cabinet.
Matty and Mike comedy hour. Lol.
This is insane!! Very well done guys! What i'd do for this garage myself..
Matt what would you do without Mike! Every great team needs a Mike 👍👍
Recessed lift is truly legit! :)
Well done, nice clean install!
Why not put some kind of black concrete paint or sealer on all that concrete under the lift? Would have finished it off nicely when the lift was up.
Great video guys!!
Prototype engineering is like that , yeah it is !!!
Self Leveling concrete under those lifts would have been easier than thin set for sure. Enjoying the build
That is a really intense lift.

That's gonna be fun checking and filling that hydraulic fluid once that unit is inside that cabinet. 😅
That will be ten years from now.
@@ObsessedGarage don't want to be that guy in 10 years

Should have painted the lift holes grey to match the floor around it.
How about servicing the hydraulic pump? Looks like it would be tough inside the cabinet? Nice install otherwise.
It's loose in the cabinet. You can just slide it out.
I am watching this I am wondering when they will cut the whole bottom off the cabinet and slide the cabinet over the top of the 100lb stand
If I get nothing else from this video, it’s that murica’s measuring system is dumb. We should switch to metric and get smart like the rest of the world.
NICE!
Cut a hole in the bottom of the cabinet and lift the cabinet over the to[
Stand there and look good Bob Vila 😂
How thick is the slab under the lift?
28:41 this pose of Matt has to be on a thumbnail soon
Will you spend some money on grinding the concrete floor to get it perfectly flat instead of those tiles?
The problem with doing that is that it still stains and is really slippery.
@@ObsessedGarage - I hear you. It is possible to vaccinate the concrete floor against stains, and only polish the floor with grit #800 to avoid it getting too slippery. You fill the floor with chemicals so that there isnt more room for the stains. Still, not sure this is your style though.
SNACK TIME
Should really be using special masks when working on cement like that! It’s extremely bad to breath that in guys… dont wanna loose you guys
What do you have on the walls?

I would paint the concrete edges black
The new music sounds a little to like the original Fast and Furious movie.... from the party scene...lol
How do you add hydraulic fluid now 🤷🏻♂️
Why would you need to do that? When you do, in like 5 years, you'd just slide the pump forward a few inches and put a funnel in the hole.
I guess the Warranty on this Hydraulic Pump was was void before it even started to work, after cutting it to fit. This is not a video to be proud of.I won't have posted this at all.
Why didn’t you just shim the lift to make sure it was perfect…..then pour grout?
