  • Now I would have some things to say to those who went into the Capitol that day. First, I do believe that their resistance on J6 was not in accordance with the Word of God. That’s not how you do it. This was not Protestant resistance theology, but more like Keystone Kops resistance theory. And related, in the second place, as Tallyrand so elegantly put it one time, it was worse than a crime-it was a blunder.

David French has consistently demonstrated that he values the opinions of men over the will of God and THAT IS the measure of his character and, sadly, likely his soul as well.

Basically David French makes his money by trying to chastise Christians and people who's views generally land on the right. And he does this for an audience who likely are more than happy to hear someone say what he says about them.

This talk was absolutely brilliant! Thank you Pastor Wilson for taking the time to present it.
Personally, I think that French, and folks that think like him (many of my family members), desire love from the world more than they desire to love the world the way we are told (through scripture) to be loving. I think that scripture is pretty clear that when we tell the truth, most of the time, we will be hated, not loved. David French, along with most modern Christians, love the world too much and prefer to be loved over being hated. This sentiment is somewhat understandable from a human standpoint (we all desire love and respect) but it certainly is not biblical or spiritually mature.

Thank you for actually speaking up with regard to J6 and addressing the gaping wound that the media was so quick put a (politically supplied) bandaid on. I know that occurrence has fallen on the heap of so many like it in the Capitol that we all are overwhelmed, but to hear you address the thing honestly is a breath of fresh air. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered.

French has never met a leftist with which he could find fault, and contrarily, he has never met a Christian he won’t critique for trying to change things for the better. French is Teddy Roosevelt’s “critic,” who, from the sidelines, finds fault with the “man in the arena,” who is bloody and bruised and fighting valiantly for righteousness, while French sits comfortably in his easy chair, never breaking a sweat or a nail, doing nothing, except thinking of ways tell the doer of deeds how he should have done them better.

I don't always track with Doug, and yet I'm sure tracking with him here. He is often curmudgeon-like in measured amounts, but here he is downright hot under the collar. His pulse rate is up. His pace has quickened. He's taking this personally. And you know what? Me, too! Even though David French comes across as a basically nice guy, there is no one who makes me angrier (with the possible exception of Russell Moore). As far as I'm concerned, men like these--and others, like Phil Vischer and J. D. Greear and Matt Chandler and even Tim Keller--have shown themselves to be, not on the whole, but in significant ways nonetheless, out-and-out enemies of the cross. I say this with extreme sorrow. I've liked these guys, supported these guys for a long time. And it makes their blatant betrayal all the more painful. I'd like to take them by the shoulders and shake them: "Wake up, for God's sake! Wake up!"

From my perspective, the men you named have exposed themselves to be controlled opposition, pious Pharisees in the household of Ahab, sheep dogs to keep the sons of God in check with powerless intellectualism, while spreading the love of Jezebel with the synagogue of Satan to erase the last vestiges of Christianity from our nation, and intern, all nations. If any man like Jehu arises to fight her, they oppose him directly! Enemies of the cross indeed. These are the men who cry, "Lord! Lord!" but do not do the will of God, and actively oppose it. Their friendship with the world underscores their enmity with God.

Not at all sure I’d go that far: a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
But I have seen (so-called) winsomeness morph into compromise pretty frequently. I tend to think it’s because of another biblical precept: bad company corrupts good character.
Many proponents of “winsomeness” end up befriending their interlocutors. And all of a sudden, they lose their objectivity. They don’t wish push the envelope any longer for fear of offending their new-found “friends.” I really do think that’s a big part of it.

@@HannahClapham 'Winsome' and 'nice', at least in public life, tend to be equivocations that really mean, 'I want to fit in'.
I have no problem with politeness; I tend towards it myself with people I don't know well. I just have strong antipathy towards words that so often cover up man's willingness to lie like Beelzebub if it makes him look pretty in the world's eyes.

I was well into maturity before I learned that women ought not preach. My church didn't teach it. They didn't teach much and the little avaible was often wrong.
In my area, the church choices are TBN sprouts or rainbow flags. They actually make the Catholics look pretty good.
I would love to see Doug ( or Nancy) do some detailed teaching on the role of single women in the church.

Doug I appreciate you. Thanks so much. Sometimes I am reminded of that movie from 2002, Time Changer. You remind me of the main character.
So I can argue with you, Doug, or someone on applications of principles and we can hammer out compromises based upon said principles we agree are primary and foundational and supported by God’s moral law giving Word. But the current malaise in spiritual rigor in big Eva is likely the result of sloppy thinking (and more likely, sloppy morals) that pluralistic principles can somehow coexist in this form of dualism. And because the far left knows their principles and presuppositions can’t hold up in a battle of wits they must needs silence and declare that territory off limits.

Regarding Guidepost Solutions.... Could this not very well be a "Good Samaritan"-like example. Where the those who are on the outside are condemning those on the inside through their just acts? It's not a defense of the SBC's choice, but it seems like a proper condemnation for letting abuse go rampant. I think we could take their findings and recommendations seriously since, after all, they have appropriated just enough Christian ethic already and so will do what is right. Even if in the long run they'll get it wrong. Even if in the long run, you will have to show them on what hill you actually need to worship on.

So that's a loaded question, technically with the end of the second temple (more importantly, the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ) ended the validity of Judiasm. God has made Christ King over jew and gentile alike. If you refuse Jesus Christ (which all partakers of actual judiasm do), then it is part of pluralism. It is a similar situation as the Golden Lamb scenario. To worship the Lord in any way other than what he has prescribed (not talking about music choice or anything like that, but the likes of who is God/Lord and whatnot) they worship another God of their making.
