  • Hi all,
NOTE: Due to a problem that arose during the manufacturing process, this video went well above its original duration limit. By placing the focus on the completed piece/part of the lathe project immediately after the introduction, I have avoided having to create two distinct videos. I do realise that the remainder of the film may be unimportant, excessively long, and detailed for some viewers.
In this video, I continue from Part 2 (Sliding Motor Mount) that I made on the small model lathe in March. There, I designed and built a sliding mount for the exercise vibrating machine's motor to use on the lathe. I also discussed how I want to use its digital components on the vintage lathe to boost speed and ease changeability. Moreover, I proceed to add the custom-made linear screw ram and mechanical connections that pre-tension the belt after a mechanical gear is selected using the sliding motor mount. Several changes will be made to the electrical control side of the tensioner mechanism in the future.
The mechanical links established, as well as the electrical system of the belt pretensioner, will operate together with the swift linkage mechanism in this video to allow instant gear switching during workloads. As a result, no bolts need to be loosened or tightened to release the small V belt from the drive train.
Also, various other features (guard protectors) will be added to protect the user’s fingers from the high-speed gears with a customised stainless-steel enclosure for the exercise machine’s control panel. Furthermore, a new frame/stand with swivel castors will be fabricated up to allow ease of access and to aid mobility of the machine in my workplace.
Existing features will be kept, such as the large flywheel pulley even though it won’t be functioning no more. The entire lathe will be repainted using a tough enamel paint with a new additional quick change tool post/vice clamp.
Please see Tony Griffiths article in the link below for a more detailed explanation of these small but incredible lathes.

    I hope everyone enjoys.
    Thank you, Jeffrey
