Just wanted to do a little public service and provide another clip for those out there researching for potential hardware for the home studio! I've owned this for a while but not really explored all the potential, and I have to say that it really shines as a pure riff machine for aggressive metal of all sorts. It works for leads as well, but that is much more dependent on post production and how you handle effects such as delay, reverb and how you EQ, which makes getting a sweet lead tone a little bit more tricky. For riffing, it basically sounds fantastic right out of the box, especially with the impulses I've linked to, that is at least my discovery.
So yes, I recommend this for anyone who wants to start recording with a little bit more punch. It's quite affordable and to my knowledge one of the best introductions to analogue home recording; hence it's a good upgrade for those used to digital stuff such as PODs, Guitar Rig and such. Not to bash the digital stuff out there, it's improving quite rapidly, but I've never managed to dial in anything this "fat" with amp simulation software.
Oh, and the drums are Addictive Drums with Metal ADpak. Cheers!

If you can make a clip of the cab outs, I'd love to hear it! But thanks for all of the info anyway - and the clips! Nice work, by the way...

@drawnacrol Thanks, I've improved upon it since. Pretty nice piece of machinery this one, gotta love ENGL.

From the manual: "The LINE outputs (25) and (26) provide signals that emulate the response of a 412 guitar cabinet." I know it's not an impulse, but a "frequency compensated line out." I've been dying to hear what these sound like either direct into a live PA, or direct recording with no impulses added. (I've heard they are not great, which is why everyone seems to be using impulses).

@RustyNotesTV Thanks (: I've been improving it further, this machine is quite fantastic consider the price and convenience.

@Catguy19 Yeah I've actually been using it for quite a while, since my Sparkman cover in fact (which sounds really weak so never a good demonstration). The thing is that I've very recently discovered how to tame this beast so I hope that will translate more and more. Also it depends on how much shit is going on in a mix, there's not even a bass here. Synths and stuff make it harder for this one to shine. But anyway, YES I WILL USE IT.

    Hello!
I think I've now watched EVERY vid on youtube with the e530... but not a single one I can find demos the on board cab sims... do you have a clip of that or know where I can hear that instead of the cab impulses? Thanks!

Oh right, forgot about that one. And you are most likely correct in your assessment: this function is not really used because it is sub par to external impulses. The nice thing about impulses is the variety of them - I use a lot of different ones for different purposes when recording. Direct to a PA, hmm, I mean it is possible but probably much worse than even just plugging this thing directly to a cabinet (it has a built in power amp, albeit weak), and the PA micing the cabinet. Hard to say!

@iSometimesWriteMusic Oh yeah! You can do wonders with this shit. I've a song up on my other account featuring engl e530 if you wanna see. Just look up "Nomentory - Where death is most alive new single". And pick the one with a white-ish picture :)

It's a pre amp and not an amp simulator, so naturally there are no cab impulses within it. This device only provides the distortion of your signal, nothing less, nothing more. Just a distorted signal sounds like shit so you need cab impulses in your DAW to get something useful. If you want to use this outside of a recording environment, you need a power amp to make it sound loud. So anyway, there are no on board impulses, it's just hardware - not software.
