Ive qualified for my first play in last season but don't really play standard (at all) :D I think I will jam this one in the BO1 event, lets see how that goes
I know Ghitu Lavarunner has haste, but I feel like Hired Claw is generally just better. As for Bloodfeather Phoenix, I recently saw D00mwake showing off a brew combining it with Grab the Prize, making it a 3 mana 2/2 with a bunch of upsides.
Hired claw over it can be reasonable as it’s also a mana sink. My only concern with grab the prize is it’s a terrible draw if you are hellbent as it does nothing. I would have to play it to see how often you are stuck in hand with it. Ceiling is high but think case may be more consistent
@@MTGJoe Yeah, it will almost certainly be too slow. If Charred Foyer was cheaper or had an ETB, I might be optimistic about building a slower, more grindy deck around those cards.
Will have to test out dedicated burn to see how fast it can pop off. There is a couple of the alchemy burn spells but compete with the 2 drops slot. I think in wizards you would have to still prioritize wizard lightning and flame of anor. It would compete with shove aside so comes down to do you want more burn to face or early creature removal. With auras being so popular I’d hedge on shove aside
Maybe just a nostalgia play but if no popular first strike creatures are played in meta then I think if theres a 3 drop creature in these mono red decks it can be Ball Lightning
Not really. There is a returning 3 drop-in foundations that most of today's players never played with. It could be extremely good again. I plan on playing both.
Seems good. I'll def be giving it a try.

Foundations bringing some real heat to standard.

I doubt it will work well, but I'm interested in trying a Boros burn deck with the red Virtue and Quintorius.
Red virtue could have a place but quint may be too slow

viashino pyromancer prob a good include for burn
I just noticed it's legal in standard, so yeah, I'm going to include it instead of the bird.
What do you think about burn in historic? Or maybe boltwave can fin it's way to izzet wizards?

Glissa would be the most common first striker you’d encounter
Volcanic Spite seems to be playable.
Usually want your burn to always go face. If just damage to creature there are better options
What about the new Kellan
I think Kellan is a bit of a trap. You have to commit multiple turns of mana and there is so much cheap removal going around.
Screaming Nemesis is 100% mandatory for a burn deck. Turns any burn deck into a toxic deck.

Screaming nemesis is a better defensive card than aggro card lmao
