@@qba919yeah that’s what was throwing me off. He had 7 cards in graveyard, he exiled 6 when the Titan only needs 5 exiles. So yeah l, even though it was a little awkward, the board state was kept correctly.
Carl and Team I do love the new graphics but do remember that the point of 1 video was not to overwork yourself! do be careful! Really enjoying the video!
Looking back it is kinda crazy how long Gitaxian Probe was legal in modern without people realizing how broken it was. It was basically only played in Infect and sometimes in Storm. This thing flew under the radar for waaaay to long.
It was less good in slower modern back when you could play Eternal Witness for value and Tarmogoyf and Siege Rhino were premium threats and life totals mattered more while information from looking at a hand once often didn't last basically the whole game. Maybe it was still correct to play in more decks though.
@@uselesscommon7761 There are definitely value decks where you wouldn't trade 2-8 life per game for playing 56 cards and don't get much value from looking at their hand, but it's really busted in any deck that benefit from being able to check if the way is clear or they need to play around something, and modern has a lot of those.
Let's hope that the psychic health of the people involved in the video stabilised since nine days ago. Also, what a montage style change with the simple geometric shapes! I like it, it makes following the players' schemes even easier!

Really cool idea, would also be nice to see decks built around banned cards, but just with banned cards, so that the decks have more of a theme without legacy wrecking everything
I believe if built decks that were only banned cards legacy will completely crush modern. I would guess their maybe jeskai colours. Run a play set timewalk, ancestral recall, black lotus, some moxes, 4 white plume adventure, 4 lururus of dream den 4 mental mistep, 4 ragavan. Some combination of these broken cards and others. Probably azorius inative tempo would be the deck name. modern on the other hand doesnt really have a deck it can build, the only reason carl didnt win is due to have alot of "bad" legacy cards he ended up drawing into.
9:20 Judge here. And when it dies, the Bridge from Below in Thoralf's graveyard triggers. You did miss the trigger, but it looks like Thoralf caught it later when he exiled the 6 cards (including bridge) in his graveyard while he was playing Uro instead of the 5 it needed.
Talk about higher quality editing! I love the new cut-ins; brief summaries of everything discussed, those tags across the top bar that could have good applications outside this delightfully silly format, the simple shapes to highlight the interview but not distract from the content. TOP QUALITY
The funny part is that most of the Modern 'stuff that's too good' is not only not a problem in Legacy, it doesn't see play. Legacy is way more cutthroat than Modern, and FoW is a big part of that.
There are also some cards that are 'too good' for Legacy but not 'too good' for Modern (at least according to Wizards, lol). 11 cards appear on both lists, and I spotted 5 in this video.

Each deck is seemingly 1 of each banned card, so there would be no basics in the decks, so they just get a free basic from outside the game each turn. You can even see Toffel do it at 5:56
OMG "Cardmarket's guide to the Multiverse" and "Freitag Nacht" had me laughing SO hard. Also really cool video! It's bizarre to me how UA-cam will recommend me a card market video when it's new, I don't watch it right away, and then like 6 hours later it's recommended to me again with a wildly different name and thumbnail
It's really cool to see how some cards like Oko are just too powerfull by themselves and get banned from pretty much everywhere but others depend much more on the meta of the format and/or are banned because they enable other broken cards. I wish we could have seen more cards but I guess broken cards make for short games, otherwise they wouln't be broken!

Great video! Could you guys look to do “unbanned” cards in 2024? What does a hogaak deck look like with bridge and faithless banned and can it stack up against boros energy or another of the tier modern decks now?
In game 1, they missed the Brodge from Below. Carl skullclamped his Goblin recruiter away, so Bridge should have exiled, making him unable to escape Uro.
Toralf could've removed a counter in response to the equip to kill the recruiter so he didn't draw two cards and the bridge should've left, meaning no Uro escape. But great game!

Wait... at 2:52 Toralf shows a hand of Umezawa's Jitte and Uro. How did he both play a Nadu and Island that he did not have in hand before drawing a card on his turn?
Sticker are banned from magic in general it not a format based ban. Same reason he wasntly playing crusade or the other cultrul insesitive cards, or ante cards, or the two dexterity cards or shaharazad.
3:05 Gitaxian Probe is also like, the perfect magic card. If you could put 30 of them into your deck you probably would, since it effectively reduces the deck size until you can consistently combo with the other 30 cards. Although, casting 10 of them kills you unless you heal, so maybe not, but if it was actually no cost you would run 50-56 Gitaxian Probes and 4-10 game winning combo cards.
Yeah that’s exactly why Upstart Goblin was limited for the longest time in Yugioh. Too many decks just played it to have essentially 37 card decks. Now it’s at a point where every card you play is good and struggle to even go down to 40 so most decks don’t bother

I don't like the thumbnail with the nuclear explosion for this video since it didn't really convey what the video was about. I thought it was made up broken cards which isn't as interesting as only banned card game
banned only card formats are always interesting because a lot of cards are banned because of other cards existing and thus aren't good in a vacuum (at least in yugioh)
Cards banned in legacy usually enable other cards to be broken, rather than being individually powerful. Modern cards are banned for being too powerful.
