Can limestone tadelakt plastering be applied to the walls and in contact with the upper portion of the profile? Will this profile provide adequate movement protection and waterproofing for the plaster or is it better to put a couple rows of 2” square tile along the wall and then use a different type of profile for the tile-plaster transition? In your experience, what is the best way to transition plaster walls to tile shower floor? Shadow bead? Thank you, your videos are very helpful!!

When installing regular dilex and dilex EKE for a tub surround do you have to install all of the tile in one session or can the dilex be held in place with tape? I have a tub where the plumbing wall and opposite wall will be white subway tile and the wide wall will be fish scale style tile. So I’m sort of stuck as to what process to do to install. Also when using dilex I haven’t seen any mention of using a ledger board to start the first course of tile.
I have 24" x 48" x 3/8" tiles for the wall, and I have 2" x 2" x 3/8" mosaic tiles for the floor. What size of DILEX-EKE would you recommend for wall-to-wall inside edge? And for wall-to-floor inside edge? I am considering EKEU13/O12BW for both wall-to-wall and wall-to-floor edges, allowing some extra room given that I have large tiles. But I'm wondering if that same model will be ok for the mosaic floor as well.
Hi Jerome! The best thing to do is to get a sample of each size and try them out with the tile. Generally, you would go with the similar thickness as the tile, which in this case would be the EKE U11/O10, however if you will have a lot of extra thin-set due to the larger format wall tiles, the next size up might work. If the mosaics are 3/8” thick as well, the same profile chosen for the wall should work, as the floor tile will most likely have a little less thin-set and can be slid into the larger cavity of the EKE. Hope this helps!
I want to install a Schluter shower kit and use DILEX-EKE around the shower tray and the inside wall edge. Because my shower dimension is about 48x36, I need to cut the 48x48 shower tray to appropriate size. This implies that I'll have two edges of the tray that won't be perfectly horizontal. What's the recommended way to adjust the side (or slope) of the tray, so that the edge will be perfectly horizontal, and I can then use the DILEX-EKE on all edges?
Hi Jerome, Here are a set of instructions on cutting the shower trays: When the KERDI-SHOWER-T/-TS/-TT shower tray is too large for your shower area, it is ideal to trim equal amounts off all sides of the tray prior to installation. This will ensure a consistent perimeter height. If the shower dimensions are not equal, the KERDI-SHOWER-T/-TS/-TT shower tray perimeter needs to be trimmed to different lengths. Follow the steps below to achieve a consistent perimeter height: 1. Trim two opposite sides of the tray according to the longer shower dimension. 2. Trim the other two sides of the tray according to the shorter shower dimension, plus an extra ¾". 3. Take the trimmed edges from step 2 and trim the original factory edge down to ¾". 4. Install the tray with thin-set mortar, centered on the shorter dimension. 5. Install the ¾" factory edges against the shower wall with thin-set mortar. 6. Fill the small cavity between the tray and edge with thin-set mortar to create a continuous, flat slope. 7. Let it set over night, if possible. 8. Set KERDI or KERDI-BAND as normal with thin-set mortar (if installing the KERDI or KERDI-BAND immediately, be sure not to press the fresh thin-set out of the cavity).

Awesome. I cant wait to use on my next job. No more silicone.
Do the seams, especially in the corner, need to be caulked?
Hi Amy, no, the seams in the DILEX-EKE do not need to be caulked. It will give all the movement needed, as is. Thanks!
