Too funny. I just did a very similar thing with a Badland 5500. I didn’t realize the 9000/12000 came with a control box. I used a HF pelican style case and made a control box. Ill use mine to roll shop equipment onto a trailer for a move. Mounting on a 2”receiver allow me to use it on the trailer, a truck, the side by side, etc. I’m planning to use jumper cables to the vehicle battery for now with the motor running. It will get infrequent use but is easily shared if anyone in the fam needs it.

Check into the rope instead of the cable. You will get better results with it and it is easer to handle.

Sounded like the battery was to low when the 9 k winch was hooked up

Watching your video installing that the battery you got for the winch looks like a gel battery and that's better

Yes, it's an optima. Mines a little old but a new fresh one would be cherry!

Just lay a 2x4 board along the peak of the dovetail, the cable will rub into that.

@GarageBuiltHondas now hopefully you'll never need it! 😆 That was our logic, in September I needed it and we were lazy and didn't finish the install. Now that it's done the car will never break! 🤣

Really brave not having it hooked up to your tow vehicle while loading. It could have flipped the back of the trailer down with the weight of the car coming up on the trailer.

When it wasn't hooked up I had put the two supports down to avoid that from happening. When it was hooked up to the truck earlier in the video I had them up.

You should never drill the top or bottom flange of any frame. It weakens the structure of the frame.

I'm unsure. Maybe I just got a dud. I've used the winch twice already with no issues thankfully!

You need to be mindful about your line when pulling with the load, looks like you fouled up the spool and burned out the motor cuz you stuck the cable around the winch.just saying.
