Give it the 6.6L gasser from the truck lineup, perhaps even stroke it to 7.0L, with an aluminum block, upgraded heads/intake/headers/exhaust, higher compression ratio, higher cam lift duration, etc, for let’s say 575hp N/A. At least that way it leaves the LT6 as a corvette only engine as not to compete, and gives us the classic muscle car exhaust note. Of course all the other fixings like full carbon bodywork & seat delete, possibly even 6 speed manual trans only.
As an owner of the ZL1-1LE I have always said it's has too much creature comforts to be labeled as the "extreme track package" so what I would offer is the opportunity to delete things to save weight, like the back seat, the heated and cooled seats for light weight race seats with 4 points harness belts, and a free flowing light weight exhaust system. I do like the idea of the LT5 or LT6 but to keep it simple they could just leave the LT4, it's no slouch. I know the n/a LT6 would be ideal but it would also push the price beyond corvette money. I would also give first dibs to camaro owners, show some loyalty to your customers over the super rich that will just hide them away and never drive them. if they can have a copo program, they could certainly do this, and it wouldn't cost them alot to produce and keep costs lower for the customers.
Why? In the past, many corvette z06 engines found their way into special Camaros, so I'm sure it's been in the blueprints for YEARS. Wouldn't be hard to do at all! Can you imagine a MANUAL trans behind that marvelous 9,000 rpm flat plane LT6?!? If they made good numbers of that, and a decent price, it would SELL like hotcakes 🥞 💰!! Like, they wouldn't have to cancel the Camaro, it would sell so good 👊💪😎!!
5.5 DOHC is not a good match for manual transmission. I think 6.6L is more realistic. All the parts already exist. Just put Silverado 2500 6.6 gas crank, rods & pistons in the LT1 aluminum block. Would easily make 500hp.
@@tomjones5974 and more torque considering that engine is made to move a pickup truck and more but I think a exclusive engine only for the SS or ZL1 would be better
@@Mirlean technically it would be exclusive. The truck comes with iron block, different heads, different camshaft, different intake manifold, different oil pan, etc... They would need to assign the engine a new name. With correct cam could easily make 550hp & 500tq from the factory. The truck crank has supported 2,500hp in turbo application. Truck crank, rods and pistons are actually really nice pieces. They don't need to reinvent the wheel, design, test, manufacturer and stock new parts. Just hot rod their own engine with their own parts. 😂
Would I love the specs you outlined for this? Of course yes! But it will never get the LT6 engine. The Corvette plant can't even keep up with production now for Z06s and they say they are backlogged 3 years+ to get what orders they have now. They recently had to pull an engine OFF THE LINE of a nearly completed car, to send to a dealer to swap for a customer's Z06 failed engine. I can see the supercharged LT engine (such as the Cadillac CT5 Blackwing or Escalade-V) in this Camaro all day long though!
All they have to do is drop a lt2 engine in a ss 1le retune it for 500 hp, zl1 1le solid rear cradle bushings, more aggressively tuned magnetic ride track mode, lower the car down a little, add carbon fiber wheels, and spoiler with factory rear seat delete kit! Thats it. A z28!
Always love the Z28 Camaro I would like to see them keep the interior the same as a regular Camaro just upgrade it Keep it in line for what the Camaro is Is just a real high performance version
Man I really wish y’all would stop with these clickbaity 2024 Z28 vids. There’s no chance a Z28 is coming. GM stopped all development on future 6th gen models years ago. They were working on some special 6th gens but there’s zero chance they’re going to bring it out for a 2024 model year that will only be built for 5 months.
The answer to your question is easy for me. You better believe I'd buy one. Having said that, I'd want to see one up close and personal and actually drive it first. But aesthetically, I love the Z28! Lastly, I wouldn't change a thing about your build. Well done Mike! Save the Wave 🙋♂
I ❤ your ideas about a possible Z/28; but it would absolutely not sell well at over $100k; and in spite of the rarity of the LT5 in the 2019 ZR1 I would try my best to acquire a ZL1/1LE with the LT5, but I probably wouldn’t be able to afford it. Either way my 2018 ZL1/LE would be difficult to part with and I couldn’t see having any combination of keeping both.
Call me Old School but I would like to see them offer it again with the LS7, though updated after 8yrs. Everyone talks about how much lighter the LT6’s components are, like cranks & pistons, etc, but I’m willing to bet this four cam, multi-valve 5.5 liter is actually heavier overall than the 7 liter pushrod. Isn’t the whole concept behind a Z28 to be lightweight? Save that high revving flat-plane for the mid-engine Vettes. Again sounding Old School but it’s just too fancy for an end-of-the-line Camaro. I always wished they offered a Z28 version with the 6th gen Alpha platform, which was 200+ lbs lighter than the previous 5th gen Zeta, which the last ‘14-15 Z28 was on.

The ZL1 1LE is pretty friggin hardcore already. Trying to figure out what else a Z28 would bring. Significant weight reduction would be a huge contributor to track time improvements but seems unlikely
It would bring the zo6 engine in the zl1 platform around the same price that’s all it needs to sell. The engine is way different in character than the current lt4.
They could drop $30,000 on lightweight parts and it would only drop 100lbs. I agree with video it should be 3,200lbs but it could never be that light and have a VIN.
Love the Red Mist with Black Accents! I’m onboard for a Z28, but I think like Dodge, some options should be available, like a Passenger Seat for $1 and AC. My wife is going to want to ride to get some Ice Cream after the Car Show or Track Event. (Honestly, at 68, with my situation, the Z28 like this would be a Garage Queen, a Collector’s Car. I’d be taking an allocation away from someone that wants or needs that car more than I do. (I’ll keep my C8 Stingray and get an ERAY or if I’m really lucky, a ZO6! I’m not going to get a Z28 just to Flip It!) IMO, the rear seat is unnecessary in “Pony Cars”. I’m not a big guy: 5’ 7” 160 lbs and to sit in the back seat of a Camaro, Mustang or Challenger (my 1973 340 Cuda, or my 1979 Z28, 1975 Trans Am) was a joke and uncomfortable. Another option might be a Roll Cage if you’re seriously considering a car at this level/intent of purpose. At $100,000 you also have my attention of still having a base C8 or above. Back in the day, a Camaro was for the guy that couldn’t afford a Corvette. I think at $100k, that person today is still saying, “That’s a lot of money”. I like options!!! So, give a person options! Have a “Base/Entry Level Unit” that is “Stripped Down” as an option. Maybe I’m just dreaming…. But a car with little else except a Steering Wheel, 3 Pedals, windows with a hand crank, rubber floor mats and a Hurst Shifter might be a hard sell at $100k. Is there a Radio Delete? (No Hybrid, Right?) Then the problem is, limited production numbers: It puts ADM & Flippers into the equation along with “Greedy Car Dealers”. A chance of getting one into the hands of the average Joe or Jill is still an issue! Oh for the “Good Old Days” of going into a dealership and picking out a car on the lot or ordering it with individual options instead of Packages; Level 1, Level 2, Level 3. Gee, I remember when you had to roll down a window and stick a pack of matches into the 8 Track Tape Deck. What? You could keep weight down on a car you ordered back then just by having more individual options to select vs must have this to get the “Chrome Wheels” you like so much! (Mike 😜) Love the proposed Z28, but unfortunately not the right time in life for me.
Brink of Speed + Ok, Start with just these 3 to begin with since I have no experience in driving Camaro Z28's 1.) Disagree with only one seat. Two is more practical for other than the track! 2.) And manual controls! Dual or Single floppy pedal clutch option similar to Porsche! 3.) Turbo/s and Supercharger/s options. That would be cool to see this as a 2024 Camaro Z28 and the lap time video on the NÜRBURGRING!!! A daily driver and scores on the NÜRBURGRING!
I would keep what you said but put 2 seats in front, and why not just keep all 670 hp just like they did in 14-15 with the full Hp of the LS7! But I think it's too late for GM to do that for 24, but maybe we'll get a surprise going out, Camaro!
A last hurrah z/28 with the vette’s C8 z06’s flat plane crank 670 hp Tremec 7 speed manual transmission from the C7 (rear transaxle) with front end lift?? Body cues from the ‘69 Camaro? Priced low like the first C8? Now THAT would be unreal!! They could have done two years ago and sold the HELL outta them!
Right. They haven’t done anything to the car behind appearance packages since 2018. Now we’re getting a Z28 that’ll have to be tested and certified, etc. Nope, click bait
Here's my take if the Z-28 should come back. 1. The LT6 should not be detuned - let it deliver whatever HP it can in the Z-28. The longer exhaust will reduce the HP slightly, so it should be about 650 hp. 2. A 6 speed manual transmission should be the only choice. 3. The rear axle ratio should be lowered to take advantage of the engine's much higher redline. 4. The car should have two front seats and a back seat delete. 5. It should have carbon fiber for the trunk, hood, roof, brakes and wheels to save weight. 6. Any stereo/speakers and A/C should be optional. No need to augment engine sounds with the LT6 in front of you. 5. The battery should be moved to the trunk. This makes room for dual snorkels for the dual intakes and improves f/r balance.
I would leave in a passenger front seat, and offer a standard suspension option, the 1LE suspension is just to harsh for me to enjoy unless I'm on the track.
I like the car but I was never a fan of those tail lights, and I kind of wished that all of them either looked like the ZL1. Or looked more like the generation 2 Z28's, which I always loved with those multicolored stripes.
Take a 6th Gen 1LE loose about 45 lbs, add carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber roof, carbon fiber driveshaft with a touch of 20-30 hp/tq more and poof Z/28. The 2016 SS 1LE was already faster around laguna seca than the previous 2015 Z/28 .Even though the 6th gen had 50 less hp
Well, opposed to using the LT5 from the C8Z, they could go with Katechs LT1 427 engine which produces 701hp and 627lb-trq. Granted, de-tunning that monster would probably be necessary for street use and even might save GM on what the LT5 costs since the LT1 is in large supply. Another thing you didn't mention, a limited run of production aside from the 1 year. Only 500-1000 units should be produced to keep the rarity of the Z28 going. But, like a wet dream, we all wake up and feel disappointed that we let our hopes get up where they don't belong. Nice video though. Keep'em coming bud.
I was ready to switch to the Camaro (after waiting since August) until I got my allocation March 8th….I was going to ask for my deposit back at the end of the week….Close call. However 2023 CMG C8 welcome to papa😊
Get a CPO if you want a full blown race car . The Camaro Z28 should be the replica of the original 1969 Z28 with a 302 solid lifter cam. Which I owned number 609. My set up for the last Z28 2024 keep it simple. Stick or Auto trans super charged or not. Full interior much like the ZL1. Full Carbon Fiber parts that meet FDOT standards a tow hook. Lowered suspension with 1LE Standard . Any type of upgrades to improve suspension or braking all included. Full A/C and all electronics. Lots of cars on this category are done this way! If you want to strip it down that’s your option but most buyers enjoy the car on the weekend at tge track and sone may choose to drive it as a daily driver. Which is what I did with my original Z 28 till my wife got pregnant and I sold it to pay for my daughter. Who is now 40 lol. Reggie Jackson ended up with it and it burned to the ground in Cegas with other cars on his collection!
I'd buy one if it's redesigned such that you can see out of it and the trunk opening is larger. I'm 6 foot 2 inches tall and could never see out leaving 360-degree blind spots.
I’m 6’2 have a 2016 2SS Camaro… an have no problem seeing out lol that’s an excuse 🤷🏽♂️ set your mirrors right an u won’t have any problem… haven’t had ANY problems seeing out my car….. I keep hearing people say u can’t see out of it but don’t own it jus crazy to me 😂
I wish hy wouldn't discontinue the cmaro but instead use the platform as the new chevy front engine v8 car. They could also be the new one of the iroc z body.
I had hoped that the LS5 motor from the C7 ZR1 would be put into the '24 ZL1 Camaro. My car is the '17 ZL1 and that would be the ultimate 755 hp ZL1 stock I would've bought that and unloading my '17 ZL1 which is also the 50th anniversary model. In a way I'm bummed as I hoped the LS5 could be in the '24 ZL1, but my ever so slightly modified 780hp '17 ZL1 will continue to be just fine.
Could they make the first mid engine Camaro. Got the looks from the C8 Z06 with your same options, but change the motor to the one that be in the C8 stingray.
Sounds like it may possibly be the last year ever for the Camaro. No way I'd pay that without 2 front seats and a supercharger. Why the crap doesnt GM go after a 800 HP Hellcat? Ridiculous. Its their last hooray. Go for it. It'd have to go big for me to swap my ZL1 for it, but I would with those extras
So wait I thought this was the last year of the camaro? (As I'm trying to get one) I thought the yenko camaro was gonna be the last "different" camaro to come out as it has 2 different stages. The demon 170 was dodges last one and there go out sale so wouldn't thr yenko be the last one as dodge did the same with the 1150hp??
They could never get that platform to 3,200 pounds. It would need an engine with more torque and power as the ZL1 would still be faster everywhere..top and bottom end. At a $100K, I would go with the C8 ZO6 1LT trim.
Detuned to 560HP...? Really...? The European market would definitely not be interested when comparing Nurburgring times especially due to sub 7 minute laps that the AMG GT BS and GT2 RS have. The ZR1 ZTK may be comparable although the Z28 "1 year edition" should definitely be compatible.
I looked many times in 2014 & 2015 to buy a Z28 many if not ALL GM dealers wanted HUGE ADM. and the cars that came after had faster laps times. Rare and low build number cars don't go fast at the track.
@@BrinkofSpeed IF GM makes it a LOW volume car, then only "car collectors" have stupid money to afford and we will never see on track. Look at the 2019 ZR1 as an current example......great track car "car collectors" have bid up to $250k. Thus original owners are retiring them from the track.
All the goodies in this video, plus, moving to a mid-rear ❤drive train. JUST SAYING YA'LL 😊😂❤. Otherwise, I would not want to buy one. But that's a far cry from happening 😅😊😂😅
Like I said if they're going to use the LT6 in Z28! then they're going to definitely use the LT5 in the ZL1\1LE only and go out with a bang and they're not going to detune anything because the other Pony cars are making more power! Remember General Motors doesn't give it to schitts about the 2019 ZR1 the car is a completely platform!
I'm not a fan of the new Camaro look ,and i find the roofs been chopped too low. Also the front end look is too busy looking for my taste .i feel they need to work on the styling better. I'm sure the motor would be good, but for me i don't like it the style.

That would be cool to see this as a 2024 Camaro Z28 and the lap time video on the NÜRBURGRING!!! A daily driver and scores on the NÜRBURGRING!
Mike Mistake GM canceling the Camero .
Big time
I would keep what you said but put 2 seats in front, and why not just keep all 670 hp just like they did in 14-15 with the full Hp of the LS7!
Must have a/c, smooth suspension
Yes please bring it back. And the Boss 302.
Yes I would if it’s like the thumbnail
Automatic z/28 , colorful interior n space for head n legs
Automatic Z28s are not allowed.
Must be NA and manual
@Z/28 LS7 why not?
@@FlowTieGuy na?
@@jesusm2159 NA = naturally aspirated. Because Z28s are not automatic. The 1st gen Z28 was NA & manual only, as was the 5th gen Z28.
@@FlowTieGuy do both
Right. They haven’t done anything to the car behind appearance packages since 2018. Now we’re getting a Z28 that’ll have to be tested and certified, etc. Nope, click bait
Only add a passenger seat 👌😍👍 BTW - Back in the day I owned a '71 Z28 💞
LT6 with full Hp and the C7 7spd transaxle for better weight distribution, because it's has to have the man pedal!
HELL YES!!!!!
You would think that the designer would have enough knowledge and experience to vent the bonnet, air flow in needs air flow out and hot air rises
keep the full 670 hp LT6 offer it with 2 seats and offer it with a 10 speed option as not all of us have a working left leg or foot !!!
Yes but I would like two seats instead of one
It seems excessive to remove seats or the A/C.
It's not worth the loss of functionality for 50lbs.
Hell yeah
Yes I would buy one definitely
I was ready to switch to the Camaro (after waiting since August) until I got my allocation March 8th….I was going to ask for my deposit back at the end of the week….Close call. However 2023 CMG C8 welcome to papa😊
With an LT5 engine and 780hp I will definitley buy it.
I hope they bring this car back good video 📹
I'd buy one if it's redesigned such that you can see out of it and the trunk opening is larger. I'm 6 foot 2 inches tall and could never see out leaving 360-degree blind spots.
I hear ya. 👍
Well roger that
I’m 6’2 have a 2016 2SS Camaro… an have no problem seeing out lol that’s an excuse 🤷🏽♂️ set your mirrors right an u won’t have any problem… haven’t had ANY problems seeing out my car….. I keep hearing people say u can’t see out of it but don’t own it jus crazy to me 😂
I wish hy wouldn't discontinue the cmaro but instead use the platform as the new chevy front engine v8 car. They could also be the new one of the iroc z body.
Build it and I will buy it. Price is 2nd to car….
Love the z28 my favorite ,have a 1999 z28 T top
I have an original 69 Z/28, a 2015 Z/28 and I would definitely LOVE 2024/2025 Z/28. How do I get on the list.
If it comes with the 427 engine and the T-56, yes, I would buy one.
Absolutely
I had hoped that the LS5 motor from the C7 ZR1 would be put into the '24 ZL1 Camaro. My car is the '17 ZL1 and that would be the ultimate 755 hp ZL1 stock I would've bought that and unloading my '17 ZL1 which is also the 50th anniversary model. In a way I'm bummed as I hoped the LS5 could be in the '24 ZL1, but my ever so slightly modified 780hp '17 ZL1 will continue to be just fine.
5th Gen I would buy
If i could afford I would buy it !
2015 Z/28 is a true halo car for GM. It will be a huge collectible in 20 years. Google this Car. It was the ultimate GM car!
Make at least 10000 z/28, must have excellent sound system, only $70k
If it could beat Demon yes
2 seater with T-Tops and that 1000hp creat they came up with. Would be worth $100k
Could they make the first mid engine Camaro. Got the looks from the C8 Z06 with your same options, but change the motor to the one that be in the C8 stingray.
Yes, I would buy one
Sounds like it may possibly be the last year ever for the Camaro. No way I'd pay that without 2 front seats and a supercharger. Why the crap doesnt GM go after a 800 HP Hellcat? Ridiculous. Its their last hooray. Go for it. It'd have to go big for me to swap my ZL1 for it, but I would with those extras
I like it far more than the C8.
I love the body style
He'll yeah i will buy a new 2024 camaro Z28
So wait I thought this was the last year of the camaro? (As I'm trying to get one) I thought the yenko camaro was gonna be the last "different" camaro to come out as it has 2 different stages. The demon 170 was dodges last one and there go out sale so wouldn't thr yenko be the last one as dodge did the same with the 1150hp??
It would be a perfect Z28 sandwich between my two First Gens! Has to be a manual though.
And what the hell, put a passenger in it.
I just want to know where is the list I can get on.
Don’t fake it just make it!!!🍺😎
Yes I loved everything you said except the 1 seat in the front
They need to put the flat plane vette motor to complete with the voodoos
Yea i want GM to make this new 2024 camaro z28
They could never get that platform to 3,200 pounds. It would need an engine with more torque and power as the ZL1 would still be faster everywhere..top and bottom end. At a $100K, I would go with the C8 ZO6 1LT trim.
You will never be able to get a Z06 for $100k
@@u.b.469 I would rather add $20k to get a ZO6 than by a $100k Camaro slower than the current ZL1.
As is with air radio
I would buy it
Detuned to 560HP...?
I hear ya, and that’s why they need to make it basically a track car only. It would definitely run fast if they made it exactly like I said. 👍
Damn str8 I would
Definitely two front seats and ac maybe with a roll cage inside with Recaro seats and not detuned❤
If it comes out the way you mentioned I t will be more expensive than the z06
All the goodies in this video, plus, moving to a mid-rear ❤drive train. JUST SAYING YA'LL 😊😂❤. Otherwise, I would not want to buy one. But that's a far cry from happening 😅😊😂😅
Smashed !!!!!!!!
Brink of speed so u tell me this new 2024 camaro Z/28 horsepower going to be 785hp
No, I was describing what some people thought the last ZL1 would have.
Build her!!!
I'VE OWNED 5 CAMAROS AND I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD BUILD A Z28
BUT BUILD A 2 SEATER NO BACK SEAT...
Yeah it won't happen......unfortunately
Is it the last year. Not making it anymore
if it has a real V8? Pretty good chance it'll sell!
Give it the 6.6 and a supercharger probably 🤷🏾♂️
Like I said if they're going to use the LT6 in Z28! then they're going to definitely use the LT5 in the ZL1\1LE only and go out with a bang and they're not going to detune anything because the other Pony cars are making more power! Remember General Motors doesn't give it to schitts about the 2019 ZR1 the car is a completely platform!
Not without a full interior and a MANUAL TRANSMISSION
If you build it i buy it
I'm not a fan of the new Camaro look ,and i find the roofs been chopped too low. Also the front end look is too busy looking for my taste .i feel they need to work on the styling better. I'm sure the motor would be good, but for me i don't like it the style.
