37403 crosses the City Union Bridge

  • In failing light, 37403, hauling the Branch Line Society's BWC2 railtour, crosses the rarely used City Union bridge in Glasgow on its way from Oban to Wemyss Bay. This bridge was built to serve the now demolished St. Enoch station. Nowadays it is mainly used for empty stock workings and no regular passenger trains use it. The bridge is intended to form part of the proposed Glasgow Crossrail scheme, if it ever gets the go-ahead.
    Sorry about the squintyness of the video. A passer-by had engaged me in conversation and I was taken by surprise when the train appeared and didn't have time to adjust the tripod.
