Why do they say 300 years? I thought France had been an absolute monarchy since the days of Charlamagne. Or before if you count the Gaulic Empire. Or do they mean Louis VI's dynasty.
I think that they refer to the end of the Hundred years' War and the reconstitution of the kingdom by Louis XIV (died in 1483, the Universal Spider), founder of the modern nation concept.

Toad Lash France had been a monarchy for many centuries, but before the Hundred years War it was a feodal monarchy, where the king didn't have as much power. It is only at the end of the War that France started to shift to an absolute monarchy (especially with Louis XIV)
basically the feudal system may not have been the most fair system on earth.. but it made some logical sense... however once it became redundant(after 1500 i think) and absolute monarchy developed some remnants persisted. specifically fiscal privilages for ...doing nothing
Medieval France had a parliament. 16th c. Renaissance theorists recommended royal absolutism as the way to peace and unity in France and elsewhere, and subsequently the Bourbons ruled without convening parliament.
@@zelieranquet3390 That is correct, and even Henri IV, the first Bourbon king and Louis IXth's grandfather, ruled, albeit beneficently, without ever convening parliament.

Is this a movie? Can someone tell me its name please? Thanks.
Royal Affairs in Versailles is the English title. Si Versailles m'était conté in French. It's a movie with basically all French superstars of the fifties. More of a watch for history nerds than movie goers (if you're both like me, you will have a fun time)
Thank you
I will search it later.
@@lahirefrancois7508 sorry but, can you tell me where I can find this movie? Or Can you give me any information about it? Because I just find another movie but I think it is newer that this another movie.
Thank you and sorry for my grammar, I am just learning English jeje.
@@Multijsolano Sure. It's a 1954 movie by Sacha Guitry (He made two other historical films, Napoleon and If Paris were told to us).
I think it will be complicated to find it in english, but I hope thoses informations help you
@@lahirefrancois7508 thank you very much for the information. 🎉🎉
On the bread issue, previous monarchs had understood that bread prices were often linked to unrest and had introduced price controls. Louis XVI abolished these, under the influence of laissez-fair economists.
He also literally had no more money to subsidise it...
