My 12 yr old granddaughter fell in love with this and is doing a great job.She finished a beautiful baby blue scarf in a day. At first, when I started, I had some difficulty operating the Loops. By the time I became proficient, my granddaughter spotted what I was doing and wanted to learn. Since there is nothing I would rather do than share time and skills with her. She also loves to decorate cakes with me and we are working up to a wedding cake. She likes making jewelry, but not as much as loop knitting and baking. I will always treasure these memories and I hope that she will, too. And then, if she has children & grandchildren, she will know how to pass these skills or anything else she loves doing. For the short time I had grandparents, I did not have a lot of time with them. I do cherish the memories I have. When we married, my husband still had 4 grandparents and he felt so loved. Parenting is the hard job because there are a multitude of responsibilities. It is a great and rewarding job, but with many more requirements. Grandparents (should) surround their grandchildren with so much love and fun. It is a great reward for two generations! Make good use of the time you have with them. You will e tired, but it is a glorious tired and then you may take a nap and turn them back to the parents who have the real responsibility - and that is another reward - seeing your children whom you love so much love their own children. I know this is not the situation most people are in for a great many reasons. Love the kids and grandkids the best that you can and everyone benefits. If you are not in the same town (as we were not for several years) improvise - letters, texts, videos of you reading to them with all the inflection you can muster, bake together during live feed videos, etc. You and everyone else will be glad you did. **********One crucial caveat-Mom & Dad’s rules supersede other rules unless parents have been consulted and agreed. ************ ♥️🌈♥️🌈🌈♥️🎂🎂🎂💜💙❤️💜🌈🌈🌈🌈 One more thing, this always works best if you can drum up the child’s interest. That may include telling old family stories, sharing the enthusiasm, ALWAYS find something to praise about what they have done. Mistakes are not a crisis. They may be fixed or a cover up fix is easily improvised. Go for that kid fun,!
I *just* started doing this and I love it!! I can now knit and quilt!! I'm already half way through a knit blanket! What I did was a little different than what you did, I twisted the loop 180° then put the other loop through it.
I've made two lap blankets with this yarn now; it's a lovely change from using needles (I've always got 2-3 projects on sticks at any given time). I found that once I get the first row or 2 done flat, I can pick the project up and knit "vertically" to ensure I don't miss any loops. That way I can feel every loop as it passes through my fingers. I've even gathered 4-5 loops at a time as I went across the project to help prevent missing loops. Just drop them off and put the next 4-5 loops on as they're worked. I also figured out if I do see I missed a loop in my previous row, instead of pulling the work apart to that loop, I just pull the loop in front of the stitch that was skipped and work it in with the next row. Now, if I didn't notice I had skipped a stitch until several rows later, it's either take the piece apart to that missed loop (that sucks!) or when done, keep enough of the yarn to create straight pieces and just tie those missed loops to the work. It's pretty forgiving stuff.
Looks good and very easy Looking forward to learning more about using this yarn Thanks for your details A new challenge for me as you are teaching us the right way in all your videos
I'm trying to hand knit one of those chunky blankets and I'm having trouble with making the loops correctly I think it might help to practice with this yarn since the loops are already made and are all the exact same size. I also have trouble with keeping my tension even so I'm exited to try the yarn. Also I'm always dropping my crochet hook when I am crocheting don't have to worry about losing my fingers the same way LOL!
Maryann K I had been a knitter for many years. I taught myself to crochet just a few years ago and love it. I am just learn to tunesian crochet. It’s like crocheting and knitting having a baby. The best of both worlds 😊
DazzleMeeCrochet Aussie Lynne it sux that e have to wait. I used to short cut and get it from America through Amazon ,can't even do that now . Shaking my head .
JAYME CLARK here in Australia , we are still living in the dark ages with everything from yarn to medicine. It's annoying and ridiculous and down right infuriating . In a time where you can fly from one side of the earth to the other can take a mere 20 hours . It's our government at play here. Disgraceful but I think I'll see if I can buy it at loves knitting on line . Sigh one angry Aussie
Can you please tell me what to do if you miss a loop? I have been trying to figure out how to use this all day. I'm new to knitting, crocheting, anything yarn related really 😁. Thank You VERY MUCH for the CC I'm Deaf and have been trying to get in to all things yarn but most videos have no Captions so I have been trying to do it by sight alone. Not working out so swell for me. Thank you again for your time and captions
Thanks! And thanks for the videos. I bought this yarn over the weekend and spent 2 days watching your videos before starting. I decided to do the criss cross pattern.
I want to make "leonardo lion" rug for my grandson. Since I need 23 skeins (or I think 23x500 gr), I'm looking at nearly $1,000 to MAKE this rug!! Is this correct or have I messed up with my calculations?
I know right and it is in my right hand and it hurts and i cries but then i picks up my knitting and crocheting manage to do that and sewing but writing and trying to hold that pen third finger ho my no fun
Rosa Romero get the yarn (I do like the Bernat best and I do not work for them or anything!). They have great instructions in their label and there are a lot of tutorials on UA-cam.
I am trying to make a scarf with it now and I just did 12 loops back and forth it was going okay so I thought until I realized half way through I missed one loop here and there and had to take it apart to where I missed. Long story short I'm still learning and back on row 10. I just need to keep trying but had to switch to a different project for a few hours because I was frustrated with it. I got the pattern off JoAnn's website www.joann.com/how-to-make-a-bernat-alize-blanket-ez-scarf/26913744P91.html#q=Loop%2Byarn%2Bscarf&start=1 Hope this helps you.
Beverley Simmons I obviously do not know your situation, but I have simple (not rheumatoid) arthritis and carpal tunnel. My hands and arms do best when I can alternate how i use them. This is just another thing that allows me to use my hands differently. I have always been drawn to “small muscle” activities rather than the large muscle ones.😁😁
I also have arthritis in my hands and have reached the stage where holding my crochet hook without pain has become a challenge. I tried joining a few loops of this yarn at my JoAnn store and found it very comfortable. When crocheting, you hold your fingers in somewhat the same position and that is when my pain comes in. With this yarn, your fingers are moving and movement seems to help the pain. Just a thought.
@@franlooney8596 I agree with you regarding movement. I have all sorts of bony problems including arthritis. I keep things moving as much as I can or else I'm a goner. That is why when I saw this I immediately knew I needed to try it. The trick for me is, even if I do, say, only 10 stitches and stop for awhile, that's 10 stitches done so good for me! I'm definitely going to give it a try.

Such a helpful video in figuring out how to use this yarn. Thank you! I love Bernat Blanket yarn. So soft!

My granddaughter will love this. Thank You for sharing this.
Would love to see that being made in the yarn factory. How cool is it 👌. How would someone even think of making yarn like that lol
Interesting concept! I am a crocheter but like the look of knitting. Willing to give it a try!

I just finished making a pillow using this yarn. Once you get going, it's a lot of fun. The pillow turned out great! I enjoy Tunisian crochet too!!
It's fun while watching TV. Love it
You are amazing! I was wondering how this yarn worked.
Extremely clear video, thank you!
Just purchased some can’t wait to try it out.😀
Thank goodness you posted this. We started getting this stuff in at JoAnn and the only tutorial I could find was in Dutch or something
There was nothing on the website in store told us and none of the staff had even seen or done it so no one could explain this to me.
The Bernat yarn has mostly easy to follow instructions inside their label.
Vielen Dank..aber kannst du auch eine Strickjacke oder Pullover mit dem schönen Garn herstellen?🤗
I'd love to know who came up with this loopy yarn and how to use it. It boggles my mind and I'm in awe. I'll have to try it.
Wow love it . Mikey how do you learn how to use new yarn ? Love love love it
Amazing stuff wow!!! Won’t hit Australia 🇦🇺 for a couple of years.

I saw it in our local Joann Fabric store today here in Yuma, Arizona.

It's fun and a great way to get started knitting. It's not as intimidating as knitting with needles is to me. Projects are completed in a jiffy.

How many bundles do you think you’d need to make a baby blanket? I’m new to the crochet world so I have no idea lol
Can you do a demonstration on crocheting in the round with this?
rychla praca, pohoda, potesenie. robim to aj ja, ale nikto nekupuje. kazdy vezme, ked mu to darujem, neviem ako je to u vas. vdaka
Not my cuppa tea I’ll leave that kind of stitching to you Mikey😁
Se puede usar con un crochet del Nro. 20? Gracias por tu respuesta, el trabajo es lindo.
Can you please post a video showing how to attach a new skein using this yarn? Thanks!
We already have that as an option in the tutorial line up. :D Figured someone would ask.
Thanks! And thanks for the videos. I bought this yarn over the weekend and spent 2 days watching your videos before starting. I decided to do the criss cross pattern.
Very helpful just got this
Not that I ever make a mistake, but how does it frog?
Easily,!
Very interesting yarn

Do your have a web site that gives patterns for loop yarn projects? I am always looking for some new project that is different and challenging.
Seems like it needs alot of work though...i think crochet hook is faster...i would still give this a try! 😄
This may be a great yarn for seniors whose dexterity with their fingers is not able to hold hook or needles.
Would like to know how many loops you Ned to start a throw is it 65 loops or more?
My baby blanket ends up narrower after I attach a new skein of yarn. What is the problem?
Someone told me that you can also use a crochet hook or knitting needles for this type of yarn. That said, I haven't been able to find instructions.
My mind is getting blown right now I can’t ever do anything correctly and I think I’m doing this ok
That is the exact color I have in the intro
Alize puffy 💜
How many skeins do i need to make 1 lap blanket?
I’m really not sure. There are free patterns on yarnspirations fir blankets using this yarn. That may help you to know.
Thank you
Thanks for vid
I know right and it is in my right hand and it hurts and i cries but then i picks up my knitting and crocheting manage to do that and sewing but writing and trying to hold that pen third finger ho my no fun
Looks like I won't be getting this type of yarn any time soon... Just looked up some pricing & I have yet to see it below $10 US dollars... :'(
wait for it to NOT be on sale and use a Joann Fabrics 40% coupon ;-)
Hola how can a make a scarf?

Hope this helps you.
What does the backside look like?
Garter stitch, just like in regular knitting.
How do I add on another skein?
Just snip a couple loops and tie the ends together.
Interesting 😎
Would you be able to loom knit with it?
no...the loops are already established. We tried it... it doesn't work on a loom.
@How to Crochet with The Crochet Crowd - I smell a challenge >:)
who ever disliked didn't make it through the video
I don't worry about stuff like that. :D
Did i miss this

i don't get it.

Hmmm...😳🤔...doesnt seem as easy or fun as using a good ole crochet hook...but to each his own!
Exactly what I was thinking. I’m like, I could have made blanket by the time I do all that. 😂
Hook or needles either one, not much interested here either. Maybe young kids would enjoy fiddling with all that LOL
Yeah, that is what I said and I am out.
Yes, I agree... I think this would be good for children to work with... exactly what I was thinking.
easy project to take traveling - no questioning needles or hooks. :-)
Nem látni a munkát a fekete széles felirattól!!!
Not for me guy i have arthritis fingers
Beverley Simmons me too Bev, its not a joke arthritis
Tell me about it, this seems way more tedious than my needles.
I do not like it. Would not buy it. Even for my daughter who tries everything at least once .
