He let off before crossing the line, not because he was scared, but because he forgot to get clearance from the tower. If he moves his seat one click forward the weight of his balls will keep the front of the car in check.
If his front was in the air when he crossed the beam, the measurement was on the rear wheels..... so it might in reality have been 196mph... and an even lower time.
