It looks like the hill was progressively getting smoother from beginning to end, or was that just perfect suspension tuning and driving technique? Awesome video, I want to see these hillclimbs in person.
10:21 such a cool build, out of the box. Much lower COG with the driver and engine side by side, even the cage dips around the engine where it doesn't need to be as tall to protect the driver. Look how much more stable this thing is.
@@nightdevil6666 I think he meant to say is that americans are more into watching loud machines than actually the skill of the drivers, reasons why nascar exist meanwile the rest of the world has F1
@@maxb2299 how strategic is nascar? Sometimes they ram each other and fight in the pits or they don’t listen to their team leader’s instructions. The only real skill you need for NASCAR is the ability to explain how you fucked up mid race and the skill to Draft. Real off-roading or hill climbing takes time and skill. This is just flooring it and praying it doesn’t blow the engine and it actually gets up the hill.
As always, Madram has the best videos of these incredible vehicles! Three questions: 1) Are all of these engines generally naturally aspirated? 2) Matt Schuessler's (6:56) engine sounds substantially different. Is it a non LS-X V-8, a V-6, or otherwise substantially different from the other V-8 engines ? 3) Clayton Hollingsworth bouncer (10:21) is mid/rear engine, which seems to require a longer wheelbase. Is this a rare exception or are more people exploring engine relocation?
a few of the guys have Super Chargers on their machines, and some run nitrous. Matt Schuessler has 180 Degree headers is why his sounds like that. He runs a built LS3. Claytons machine isn't as long as it seems, but the longer wheelbase definitely helps him on the big long climbs. He is one of the first to sit beside the engine in a rock bouncer. A few folks have tried rear engine but it didn't work that well.
4:10 has so much skillful control, i felt sorry he had to backtrack for a moment, on the other hand that was the only way to see him more than 20 seconds...
Have been following a couple of videos about this competitions lately, it´s amazing how the different geometries, length, height, center of gravity of the builds adapt to the terrain, some are faster than others, or lets say balanced?. This on different tracks to show it´s just not a full on power requirements... Great stuff!
It seems like the contestants that go towards the end have a significant advantage considering they get to watch and see which route is the fastest and have paths grooved out.
I love this shit I live in GA/Al and I grew up in the woods and mud parks. Thanks to UA-cam and you filming these has brought so many new people to the off-road world. Going to one of these events or just a off-road park You will meet so many caring, nice, great and happy people that will help each other in a heart beat. I broke my electronic shifter button on my Honda rancher in the woods and was stuck I ask a guy if he could find someone to help me get my ATV out. Well when he returned there was 9 people with him and instead of dragging my four-wheeler out these guys got out a tool bag and put a brand new shifter button on. So I asked him where he got it from, well he took it off his own four-wheeler that he brought as a back up. I asked him how much I owe him and he said I don't owe him anything that instead of money yet and pass it on if you find someone else in need of help return the favor and help them. So long story short if you ever get a chance to go to a off-road park just try it out one time and I can guarantee that you will go back again.
