- In this video, I'm testing both 48V 500W and 1000W on the Razor E300 electric scooter. How fast will it go? Let's find out!
All of the parts in this video were purchased from ebay: both controllers, twist throttle, switches. (except the battery packs which were from Lowe's).
Here's how I made the battery connectors: • DIY: Hack a Kobalt 24V...
To increase speed smoke weed and drink alcohol. Scooter will go 200mph.
Amen.
😂😂😂😂 as a modified e300 owner and builder this is hilarious weed makes it seem like you're doing 40+ instead of 30
Lol... puff puff give !!
You are terrible :v
Lol
I've watch 3 videos of people modifying e series razors, and this one is by far the cleanest build. Very good!
Impeccable English, and VERY good technical explanation, and VERY good analysis. Instead of unplugging 2 batteries, I would recommend the Power switch be swapped-out for a 3-way to disconnect batteries (some longer wires run to 3x switch from batteries). 30mph for a 15mph scooter??? AWESOME. ...helmet and protective gear, like a motorcyclist and assuming everyone is going to pull out in front of you, is a must... GREAT JOB!!! Thanks.
"I have a need for speed"
Gaaaangsta!
Thug life
LMAO I almost died laughing
Nice work on doing the testing to show the difference and sharing the math. Well done. Also, the phantom load conversation. Especially for those batteries.
dude your accent is awesome

@@chienthan12345 it's obvious now that you named it lol. Thank you
Sounds like Bruce Lee!! Kick ass
Razor is finally making some new really neat looking lithium battery scooters. It's about time. The E 100/200/300 models used Lead Acid batteries.
After you switched out those Lead Batteries, you saved about 8 to 10 lbs
For future modders- 48v is OK for the motor - however excessive current (amps) is not. Too high current will burn up the motor. Try for low wattage 48v controller to keep motor cooler
Well done video. Great testing. Thank you!
i like your skill riding at 27mph on a small wheels with just one hand..Stunt!!
U a crazy grasshopper for going fast over speed bump with one hand!
This is awesome!
Great videos, I watched this one and the 60 volt conversion. Most folks when they over volt the stock motor they burn it out quickly. What are you doing differently to not burn out the motor? Thanks
I'm really impressed with your knowledge of electronics. I wish i had that kind of know how
Lol not hard
Just learn
@@dylanbenker2043 thanks now we all know how.

Good job, nice and clear.
I love your clean job
wow it will get on down the road thanks for sharing
You are amazing, best youtuber videos
Nice ! It would have been great the measure max limited current that's the major difference between both, in principle same voltage gives the same top speed if the current is enough :)
So to increase speed, more batteries?
@@wessley4606 Yes, more in series (once again if the current is enough: because when the current is limited more voltage doesn't change anything)
@@IncroyablesExperiences series combines voltage, I think this design used 2 x 40v if I'm not mistaken, but I'm not sure if they're in series or parallel
excellent vid, thanks for sharing
Love the STOP sign...
Amazing
In many states 20 mph is the legal limit for our e scooters. Glad your sitting down.
The oem motor can take a lot more than we are told.
WHY HASN'T ANYONE TRIED ADDNG A THERMAL CUT OFF SWITCH super glued to the motor body and wired to the controller's brake handle motor kill wire? Many of our home appliances like our vacuum cleaner have them.
If a low enough temp it should save the motor from melting down if being pushed too hard for too long till cooled again!
I see aliexpress has these little guys for cheap.
I am planning on trying that when I over volt my oem.
Take care
Brah. Whenever I hear your accent. I know to listen. U DA MAN!!!
Do you have a link on the controller you used on your e300 scooter mod?
Great video bro, ty for sharing.....
I am starting to wonder how these motors can take more voltage. Do they just have a shorter run time do to heat?
Great video
i love you accent 😍
This is what I needed to know
This is to help anyone who is confused about the kobalt batteries. They are not modified, they might look like they are, but they are just 4 Ah 24 v batteries. thumbs up this video so more people can see this comment.
How are the two batteries wired together to make a 48 volt system?
good vid bro
He said, “ I have a need for speed”” ‘!! Haha so do I my brother of the struggle, so do I!
Btw, where's the link for all the parts and build?! Thanks.
Yes, wpuld be helpful
I know this is an old video but why didn't you wire a kill switch straight from the batteries?
For safety and to stop that battery drain problem
Also do you think lipos would work for these builds? Just asking cause their size and weight are definitely big plusses.
I know it's a late reply but there are plenty of people who do lipo builds and do just fine.
Question ?
What is the range of 500 watts compared to 1000 watts compared to 250 watts ?
Is it close to being proportionate , meaning will the battery last 4 times longer with the 250 w as with the 1000 w controller ?
Great videos ! Very good information and well explained ! Thank you !
You will get the same range using the same battery but of course with 1000w you get there faster than 500w and 250w.
Thank you
@:46 he said he has a need for speed! 🤣😂🤗🤦🏼♂️😁
I have been inspired by watching your videos. I want to make batteries like that for my scooter. How do you charge the modified Kobalt batteries?
The Kobalt batteries are not modified. Only the USB connector. The battery still slides in and out of that connector. I can still charge the battery normally using the Kobalt charger.
vuaeco thank you for the fast reply and the great tutorial! I found 1.0 amp hour 24v kobalt battery for $10 & going to buy some of those plus charger and usb connector to replace my aging heavy sla batteries on my 24v450w bladez scooter. Maybe make one bigger pack like your other videos teach.
Did you do all this with the stock e300 motor. Has the motor held up. I use my scooter for a 5 minute trip to school if I overvolt do you thing the motor will hold up. Also is the throttle variable or on/off like the stock throttle
Hey how's it going, wondering if you went on with this mod using the stock motor and if so how'd your scooter hold up? Thinking of doing this for my son and the same use as you basically. He'll be riding it to school about 2-3 miles away. Thanks in advance. And any info or extra tips that worked or didnt work well for you. Appreciate it
The scooter is a 24 volt and you are adding double the voltage and watts.... is that motor capable of doing that? Or did you change the motor also? And if you didn't change the motor... how long do you think that motor will last before it gives up?
Do I need to change the Motor to a 1000w if I install the 1000W controller box ?
I shunt my stock E300 controller and put in 48v battery, and I clocked 25.4 mph with just the battery.
Now, I'd love to do 30mph!
How long running time do you get?
Did it last or burn out?
@@MrOoBAZoO long time with 48v lipo batteries.
@GingyMoto it was fine with 48v lipo. I ran it for like 20-30 mins with friends who knows all of this and it was ok.
I tried to reached 30 mph with 60v lipo batteries and burn the controller.
@KokoJoni-ut5ti sorry I never touched that project again unfortunately. I bought zero 9 scooter and sold that and replaced it with ebike instead.
Good luck and have fun. The issue with razor it needs suspension at that speed. The frame is strong but it needs minimum front suspension.
How many 18650's would you use if you built a battery for an e300 I just got the scooter and would like to build a salvage battery for it. Your videos are so clear and interesting thanks for your content :)
It depends on the kind of 18650 you use. For high discharge cells, you'll need 6S2P (12 cells) at least for 24V. If you use laptop cells, you'll need at least 7 cells in parallel (that's 6S7P or 49 cells) for 24V.
@@vuaeco thanks for replying was thinking a 36v to get better performance in the e300 using high discharge cells. The e300 is a great platform but the battery's weigh too much and performance is disappointing. :(
How did you wire in the speedo display? Aren't those brushed controllers?
Damn 1 hand no fear!
I'm using this mod on a kids Power Wheels from 12v to 24v, but the initial acceleration is hard on the nylon gears. Is there a way to control or slow the initial acceleration? I want to maintain the peak speed, but curb the initial burst. Is there a type of voltage regulator that would do that? Having a lot of fun with your videos; they're the best on UA-cam.
What controller are you using? Or do you just wire it up straight to an on/off push button?
no controller
It's dangerous without a controller especially if your kids are using it. If you use a power button that's not designed to handle high current, it may get too hot and fuse the contacts together. That will lock the motor to a permanently on position. Without brakes, it will be dangerously out of control. You will need a controller if you're running at a higher voltage. The advantage of a controller is that it will let you feather the throttle so you can start slowly instead of a big jolt right off the start. And you can control the speed the way you want instead of just going all in at full speed or nothing.
Hi there,awesome build,quick question to all?could I just plug in a 48v single battery instead of using 2 in series.Cheers all👍
Yes, you could.
what capacity are those kobalt batteries? and would it be a good deal to just buy the kobalt batteries and not get any kobalt tools since i already have a bunch of ryobi tools and 18v lithium batteries.
what is the name of the allen key you used to unscrew the lithium ion batteries? do you have a link?
Cool info bro😅
I like the video and everything but you did not say what kind of voltage motor you use it if you're using the same voltage in all the controllers or do you have to put 48 V to a 24 V motor that need to be explained and thank you
Could you share the link for the throttle you used please. I’m near completing my build but not sure which to go with from Ebay
did you finish it?
Have you done any update e300 scooter rebuild? For a faster speed bigger motor. "Q" What was the run time for the 1000 watt controller;?
How many amp of your kobalt battery did you use for your scooter? Can it survive with 2amp stock kobalt battery or I have to mod one by adding more batteries to the pack? Either 24v or 48v battery setup.
I used 4Ah battery pack for this project. You can survive with 2Ah pack with 24V setup but it might be too much current for the battery if you use 48V.
What size motor?.. I hook up my battery wires rnd the wrong way(positive battery wire to negative on the speed controller??..)..have I blown my speed controller?.. I seen a little spark
i have the razor e 300 and needs new batteries, i would like to get for longer range and little more power torque.
which batteries and controller should i use? i need about 12 miles range to be safe
Yes you can do it boy
how long will this last? have you been using it for a while now? I'm going to overvolt my 24v motor but with a 24v controller. If i break it ill get a 36v+ but im more worried about the motor. has yours causes any issues with moderate use?
If you overvolt the controller, it will fry and you can not just overvolt the motor as the controller is what is controlling it for lack of better words.
@@SynergyAVE that's wrong, you can power the motor directly off whatever battery you want by simply using a high amperage switch. These scooters don't use brushless motors, they use brushed DC motors.
Thanks for clearly video! I dont know how to charge for 2 batteries in a serial connection? Did u use Kobalt 24v charger ?
The batteries are connected to 2 USB docks. I just put 2 docks in series. The batteries just slide in and out of the dock individually. I can just charge the batteries individually as normal using a Kobalt 24V charger.
Thanks for the quick response! Another question: my system with 24v 200w motor, can It work on the 48v battery?
More likely yes. But you'll need a new 48V controller as 24V controller will be fried when you connect it to a 48V battery. Also, monitor the heat from your motor as it might also fry your motor! Do it at your own risk. :)
I definitely have to upgrade the new 48v controller. Actually, I dont need more speed but I need more strong because I usually ride it on terain. Do you have any suggest?
I realized after I upgraded it to 48V, not only was it faster but it's also stronger on the hills. It can clim hills now where the older 24V struggles.
Look ma one hand.....look ma no teeth 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don Ramon nice name
Seu madruga
Look ma...no balls.
Did you change the motor or did you keep the original motor.
So that’s standard motor? I have razor e300 36v batteries an 36v 800 watt controller .i have a 18650 52 v battery to use soon but also for my ebike too .steve in uk
Yes. It's a standard motor that originally came with the E300.
Has the motor melt down yet? If so, Can you make a video on a 48v brushless motor?
It works fine on 48V. I don't drive like Michael Schumacher all the time so that might be why it hasn't melted yet. 48V brushless motors are expensive. That would be a nice upgrade though.
vuaeco hi sir i have 24v brushless hub motor can i do this too using a 48v batteries?
need help wiring the Lithium batteries to my razor 300e, please tell me how ?
So Im planning to mod my razor e300 to 36v with the stock motor but I dont want it to burn out. Since the motor has 4 screws around it, Im planning to take 2 screws out to vent the heat. Will the 2 holes be enough to vent the heat?
I'd say not enough. The hole is real small and the plate is real tight on the motor. I made a heatsink for the motor and you can see it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/FFar38kRJJ8/v-deo.html
Did the motor hold up? I ran mine on 36V for a few days before the motor melted itself into a pile of crap hahaha.
Great build!
Haha, i cracked up when you said melted itself into a pile of crap
I got exactly the same problem ! Now I installed a blushless 24V motor instead of the stock motor, with suitable controller, and all is well at 48V
@@speedsterh 24v brushless? It hasn't burnt out with 48v?
@@superiorraingutters what batteries you using?
I ordered a 1000w 48v controller and it arrived yesterday. Im going to ride it today and see what happens. I have experience with modding Razor and power wheel vehicles. We have 3 razor mx650 (36v modded to 56v 7.5ah batteries), mx350 (li-ion 24v 10ah batteries), powerwheel atv (12v modded to li-ion 18v 6ah). And I haven't burnt any motors....yet. On the scooter I'll be dropping in 48v 4ah batteries(24v 4ah in series)
Great work! How do we get in contact with you? I’d like to pick your brain for a recent E300 project =) thanks in advance
What’s the red battery thing at the front are they 18650 an what amps are the kobalt packs .thanks
Yes, they are 3x 18650 cells at 12V to power my front LED headlight. It was shown in my previous video: ua-cam.com/video/gmgFM29x5m0/v-deo.html.
The Kobalt packs are 4Ah at 24V each. Two packs in series totaling 4Ah at 48V.
Im making go kart with hoverboard motors on, i installed 350 watt controller for each motor, i need advise how to drive reverse?
My motor does get hot an smell a bit after run but I have to scoot up hills a bit to take load off motor .
Can you please share how to connect both batteries together
Will a 48v motor fit the e300 razor? I found a 36v/48v (25ah) controller and want to mod my e300 now because of you! Lol
Oops i forgot to put.. Will a 48v brushless motor fit the e300?
What about if you have a switch to turn it off does it still take power
What’s your runtime with those kobalt batteries?
Great video bud, ive got a couple of scwinn s500cd's that ii the process of modifying and have been soaking up all the kn owledge possible on u- tube, anyway i have a few questions for ya, first of all im into r.c Cars big time, i have alot of new lipo batteries i have a 6s, a couple of 3s, a 2s 5000 mah, what im wondering is can i use them on the scooters with the stock 24 volt speed controls on the scooters, i believe the scooters both have the 500 watt brushed motors in them, or will the controllers shut down, and also if thats the case can i wire in a brand new 15s that i pickedup at wmart in the garden section on clearance for 10 bucks, i wish they would have had more but just one its a 60 volt 2amp used for the e- lawn mowers, tri.mers etc. Can i splice into the motor wires bypassing the controller install a on and off switch and only use it when i want to kick in some turbo boost ..lol,? Because its only a 2 amp the range wouldnt be far but it would be nice also for back up,?
I figure as long as i pick up speed with the sealed acid batteries and shut them off and then hit the switch directly to the motor from the 15s battery i should be alright, and then shut it off and turn on the normal switch to slow down and stop?? Whadda u think?
I plan on buyi g 60 volt s co trollers and more 15s batteries but im talki g for now?
R them cobalt batteries lithiums or no and how much were they?
So great ! 48 v battery 48 controller how about the Motor E300 , is 24 v. Does it matter,???
hi just seen your video about reviving 18650 batteries.i have 10 cells very lo near 0v that were new Samsung 2600mah can I use the parallel method briefly so can charge on my imax b6 then?was going buy new cells but have only been used few times on ebike .my kit is a 70 cell 54v battery I put a bms on it and went for ride and lost power.it just would suddenly drop off and on but then went to check battery and dropped it on hard floor.as its the vruzend kit the plastic tops have split.ive replaced with new tops but found had 10 dead cells.most were Samsung 26h and some Panasonic 2600 and 10 Samsung 25r.it was just Samsung 26h that went dead.one ebike guy said samsungs do this.havnt tried popping tops or releasing pressure on top but don't think they are protected cells.thanks for any ideas.steve
It can be 2 things: 1. You have some dead cells. 2. Your cells might be good but they are not high discharge cells. You need high discharge cells for ebikes. Cells from laptop batteries wont' cut it unless you put many of them in parallel.
hi vuaeco was it brushed controllers you used on razor e300 48v upgrade?guess i cant use brushless controllers which i have on brushed motor
Yes, it was brushed controller.
@@vuaeco is the razor e300 still running ok on standard motor having been upgraded to 48v
motor ok just tried direct to battery try another controller can i use brushless controller
its ok now got working had dodgy controller got original 24v controller 30v 18650 battery goin road test
What determines the maximum weight capacity of the scooter construction and the controller/motor/battery configuration?
I weigh 225 pounds, I travel 20 miles to anywhere I go then must return, and the roads are NEVER flat.
What formula can I use (or anyone!) to figure that out?
I know it's a late reply but it's rare to get a scooter that goes that distance or longer. Most scooters are rated at 15 miles range or shorter. You will have to either upgrade the battery system (which can get expensive or complicated) or spend upwards of over $600 US dollars to achieve that distance.
In addition, there are scooter test companies that show you their tests and what weight they used to determine their tested distance/range and perhaps you can use that as a reference point in accordance to your weight. Good luck sir!
@@longjonsilvernuts I believe you can just use a 48v 20ah ebike battery, 48v brushed controller and 48v brushed motor.
i have one for sale already built
How do you ensure that both batteries are evenly charged? Do you charge them separately. Your projects are really great keep it up
There’s a LED light that says fully charges on the battery and on the charger as far as I’m aware

How long does the batterys last now and how long to charge it?
They suck not good batteries get real ebike batteries
Can battery indicator be installed ?
Can you put please list parts (links)
how can i make a variable speed controller, so i cant adjust voltage or speed. i know stock one is On/OFF no in between.
Get a varible controller or a throttle that is varible
How much distance do u get out off thoughs batterys
What size motor upgrade is best with this hack????;
Nice setup. Do you have part # for controllers? Also are they variable speed controller? I want variable speed to save battery.
This is just a generic made in China controller so there's no part number. You can search for 1000W 48V controller and it should pop up everywhere. This is a fixed voltage controller. You can adjust the speed of the vehicle by using the twist throttle.
Hi I just trying out a new controller it did say sensorless and ebike scooter but brushless anyway connected to my 36volt brushless Motor with the halls connected .anyway the motor worked ok but without no throttle control .ie whether throttle was powered on or off motor only worked when learn wire connected.but each time disconnected learn wire rotation was reversed .so when twisted throttle it wouldn’t work .i had red black an green throttle or grip wires connected.throttle lcd showed voltage but maybe faulty throttle .
Maybe throttle cables are not correctly colored. Switch the 3 throttle wires around and try to see if it works? Or you can get a volt meter and measure the voltage across the wires. They should be 5V on the red, nothing on the black. Or best yet, try another throttle
hi vuaeco ive picked up another couple of razor e300s.my wife just wanted standard one fast enough for her an good batteries.mine was dead /tired batteries.anyway tried charging from cteks showed good voltage but under load was weak power motor ok.so ive hooked up my ebike battery 53volts power but mine can be separated so just used 30volts on scooter.used 300watt 36v controller an throttle showed 30volts lcd didplay.not sure if green or blue was signal wire on controller.tried green first no power on motor so swapped to blue an without throttle motor spins backwards slowly.had good motor speed on old lead acid batteries.so swapped motor wire over an motor goes forward but slow again but still 30volts 18650 power they my samsung 25r s.any ideas ?
30V on this motor should be very fast. Something has gone wrong. Try this: disconnect the motor cable, then put the volt meter probes on that cable instead. Now run the throttle and see what voltage you get? If you get 30V on that cable then it must be something wrong with your motor. You can then try to connect your battery terminals directly to the motor to see if the motor works? This motor can handle up to 48V connected directly to the battery without the controller.
It was unite make from uk I need standard 24v razor motor for my wife’s e300as it’s fast enough for her as standard .but I’m speed freak like you .i only got 23mph on my ebike with a 1000 watt motor run out of pedal power need bigger gear at back .so your 27 mph on razor is scary .your road is quiet 😀.so you reckon a 1000 watt controller and a standard razor motor will last ok?think maybe lithium batteries easier on a motor than lead acids as they lose power quicker
I think 1000W controller on the standard Razor motor would be fine. I'm thinking of over-volting it a little bit more and push it to its limit to see what it's capable of.
will be working with Razor E100?If not what is suggestion?
Idk. I wana try though.
Nice job. Can you provide a link in the description to where to buy the controllers? I over voltage mine to nominal 29.6v and the original controller handles it fine. I might upgrade to 48v. Looks fast and fun!
Lowegy - do you still have it and is it still at 29.6v? How much faster did it go and any problems?
anywhere, ebay, aliexpress, alibaba, bangood, wish, soo many to choose from these days.
Cool.
I once tried a 300watt 36v motor but it didn’t last long .strange as the standard motor ok at moment
