  • In this video, I'll show you how to repair a dead Razor E300 electric scooter and run it with a 24V power tool Li-ion battery. I'm replacing the entire internal electronics of this scooter including the 24V controller and twist throttle. Both can be found on ebay for less than $10 total. I don't want to post a link because ebay stocks are varied depending on what's available at the time and who is selling them. But the average price is less than $10 for both the controller and twist throttle.

    Why didn’t you remove the 18650 cells and wire them up? That plastic pack takes up a lot of unnecessary space

      1. How do you charge it with the original charger if you remove the cells.
      2. It's a power tool battery from my drill. I want to use it for my drill when I'm not riding my scooter. How do I do that if I remove the cells?

      @lifehackertips 5 років тому

      vuaeco you don’t use the original charger, they sell 36v chargers for under $10 and you wire up a $2 balancer from ebay

    • @lifehackertips
      @lifehackertips 5 років тому

      vuaeco buy another $10 battery for your drill. Better than always removing the cover to remove these batteries every time you want I use your drill

      That's not the purpose of this project. This is 24V, not 36V. EV chargers aren't under $10. Balance boards aren't $2 either. And Kobalt batteries aren't $10 any more. Cheapest now is $17 and that's the 1.5Ah. The 2Ah is $20 and 4Ah is $50. I don't ride my scooters everyday, I only ride it once in a while so the batteries are more useful being a power tool battery than a scooter battery. Better yet, I can use for both. One more advantage is when you run out of juice, you can remove the battery and put a fresh one in and off you go. You can go for all day long if you have enough batteries to replace with. If you remove the cells and make a permanent pack, you only have limited range. Once your battery is depleted, you're done. There's no such thing as fast DC charger for these scooter batteries.

    I like what you did here and how modular the batteries can be. From powering your cell phone in power outage(with right connector), using in the drill like it’s meant for and using to power a vehicle 👍🏼👍🏼 I want to see if I can make a 18ah pack out of running each batt pack in parallel 😬

    Can you give the estimated distance for a fully charged 24 volt Li-ion battery such as a Kolbalt? Estimated weight of passenger 150 lbs.

    Hello mate congrats for hour videos. One question : would be possible with the same battery but 12v instead of 24v? Will it be fine?

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  5 років тому +1

      Same battery? If you use 12V, you can have 2x 12V in series and that's fine.

    I just ordered a brand new E300 from razor and I was thinking of upgrading The stock batteries to 12V LiFePO4 battery , I am not looking for more speed I’m just looking for a longer ride do you think this is possible without making additional changes? Thank you so much love you videos

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  6 років тому

      The E300 runs on 24V so it will not work on 12V but you can wire 2x 12V LiFePO4 batteries to make it a 24V and you're in business. It's just a matter of fitting the new battery packs to the E300 battery compartment. It should work with the same stock controller from the E300.

    • @geraldgrogan
      @geraldgrogan 6 років тому +1

      I am told that a stock e300 will also work with a 36volt battery pack without upgrading anything except the controller. You would simply connect three 12 volt packs in series to make 36 volts.

      Hi mate I have this e300 and battery is death after 6 months full using. I don't know what battery but...I have any idea?

    • @wesdogg7377

      Bernat Sales the E300 has 2 12v Lead Acid batteries. Look up online, prob 5ah or 7ah.

      No it doesn't. You'll need to monitor it

  • @TheWeirdSide1
    @TheWeirdSide1 4 роки тому

    FYI, the 4amh battery costs around $50 and still wouldn't run as long as the $26(for two) scooter batteries, but if you already have the kobalt battery..makes sense I guess.

    Can you remind me of a process you use to mix up cheap filling compound please. I want to fill the body of a 18v battery pack. Regards Chris

      I'm not exactly sure of your question. You want to make a mold for a battery pack or just the outer cover for it?

    • @mirriulahwaterdog
      @mirriulahwaterdog 6 років тому

      Actually I want to fill the void in the old 18v pack after the old cells are removed so that its not too light or heavy and allow me to incorporate a plug.

    • @mirriulahwaterdog
      @mirriulahwaterdog 6 років тому

      I remember from another video you making a compound that is like the mold you have at 3.07 on the battery pack. I thought this might be a good medium to fill the old battery pack with.

      It's called fiberglass resin. It's in liquid form with a hardener. You can mix the liquid with the provided hardening dropper (just need a few drops per 100cc) and pour it into any container. It will harden to rock solid in a couple hours. It smells like urea and very stinky. I think it polyurethane. Here's the video where I mix it up to make my battery connector, skip right to 15:27: ua-cam.com/video/4o0dBpYcWwE/v-deo.html
