@@lfc_kd xlokup() doesn't require more parameters, it has only mor optional parameters. For xlookup() no column rearrangement required. xlookup() is faster than vlookup()

Making it a table and sorting the columns are completely pointless steps, they do nothing to help a vlookup work, you just need to fill in the fourth criteria with a zero to say exact match only. So instead of finishing with column 2 it should finish with: 2,0)

How does sorting prevent this? If you sort Adam then Adams and then search for Adams, will Adam not be returned as a close match that is listed first? I have never used vlookup without using the final parameter and always use a zero for exact match, using a close match feels wrong and ambiguous.

Table step is unnecessary, also XLookup is so much faster and easier.
Why on earth waste time on sorting, when you just add FALSE as the 4th parameter to ensures an exact match??? 🤔

Xlookup. With vlookup, the lookup value needs to be in the left most column. With Xlookup, the lookup value can be in any column.

Never use vlookup always use Xlookup
if its vertical use vlookup. Makes no difference.

If you use a closest match, it may find a match before you expect it to.

Excel is awful. Just use an effing DB.
This is exactly where my confusion comes in. Why not just use a DB? I swear I can do the same functions in any DB by just searching/filtering.
