Editing the actual ride video is going to take some time so here is our post ride wrap up in the meantime.
When I lived in Tazewell, Va the shakedown loop was just the road out of town, twists & turns, no posted limit. That's not PR hype, it's the DOT saying, "good luck"....
what road was that?
What a way to celebrate a motorcycle's first service, eh?!
I can just imagine how those green tunnels'n'twisties would make for a jolly journey. Although I would've needed a day's head start, probably more ! :)
Speed, tight turns and undulations are my idea of a thrilling ride on a fairground rollercoaster, but when it comes to motorcycling, well, personallly, I like to see the countryside. And the slower I ride, the more I see of it ! :)
Apparently my average is about 30 km/h (~19mph) and so, your trip would have taken me at least twice as long.
Anyway, I liked seeing and hearing your different points of view, the banter, etc... Thanks.
@@FrokieKlarth-qe3ei I will generally pick up the pace in the green tunnel areas, there’s nothing but trees to see there. If it opens up then I take my time and enjoy the sights
Whoa, what an odd motivation for picking up the pace !
Well, no matter, motorcycling can indeed dispel boredom. And what a thrill, leaning the bike for cornering, especially when road-positioning / riding-line and speed variations throughout are spot on for the smoothest possible ride = for me, quite a fun challenge, every time. :)
Here's a very different challenge:
We all probably wish that we didn't know at what speed rain drops begin to sting our face, but, what about insects: below what speed do they no longer smash, but bounce off of hard surfaces, like visor, headlight, etc?
that's brutal riding with a big old back pack like that. Man!
after seeing my luggage up close... he ordered a set. Ill see if I can get ahold of his bike and do a video of that setup.
Guys, this looked like a tremendous amount of quality riding and fun!
I have ridden my old KLR on the “Tail Of The Dragon”, and up & down the Foothills Parkway and Blue Ridge Parkway.
These roads you are featuring look like a blast to ride.
If you ever want to venture down here to Texas, I can guarantee you several spectacular rides in the Big Bend area.
Two, count ‘em, two fifty mile long River Roads, one paved and one dirt, plus “Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive” in Big Bend National Park.
Literally hundreds of miles of back country riding in southern Brewster County, TX.
Every year, the week preceding the first weekend in November, the Terlingua Chili Cook-Off. Live music every night, and adventures every day.
Come On Down.
unfortunately, I'll have to wait until I retire before I can travel more than a day or so away from home... grrrr
tracks on both sides of the river.... likely former Norfolk and Western and Southern lines. Good place for the train spotters.
Hello brother. ( retired army) I have a 2020 Monkey and a 2023 Road King. I guess I can start referring to it as a “Pre Woke” Harley.
I went out on a ride from the bike/scooter event in Lynchburg. it was like 15 bikes. At the 2nd check point about 40 min in the HD and Indian guys on the tail were complaining we were going to fast. The leader was a sport bike guy, but for this he was going the speed limit. They didn't like me pointing that out. he he.
I like a good spirited ride... but I'm usually with in the speed limit. When most people think about "going fast"... they think in terms of high mph, when in reality a good handling bike can go "faster" by just doing the speed limit and not having to slow down as much.
A good sounding bike makes getting back to the speed limit fun as well!
Dude, if you do a ride, I'm in 100%
I'll see what I can do, Gearhead is working on setting up some things for accommodations and such. So I'll see what kind of progress they make as that will probably determine where the meet up / ride out would be based from.
Wasp in the jacket.... Been there.
I was cracking up watching him jump off the bike and rip his gear off when that happened.
where did you guys camp?
@@roberthambly9926 at the Eggleston Springs campground
I've never ridden the dragon; live in New Mexico. Take a look at Google map, Road (15) from Silver City NM. through Pinos Altos, ending at the Gila Cliff Dwellings. it is quite the ride. If you ever get this way let me know.
Once Im able to retire I plan to ride all over the country and visit all the states. Ive been to New Mexico but it's one of the states Ive only passed through on the hwy and didn't get to see much of it.
and then cut cut the video right when the B.S. was getting good...
Welcome to Z, would you like a Zig Mac? lol
Join the club, old back injuries, can't deal with fwd controls.
Hi Voodoo. A question from the UK. Where you have those double yellow lines on the road, does that mean you can’t overtake? If so, it seems like you have an awful lot of them. In Europe we have double white lines.
@@richardjakobek7477 yeah double solid yellow means no passing. If one of the lines is broken then the broken side only can pass.
