He looked good on the three dropbacks in which he wasn't pressured. Parsons is unbelievable. No time to act on what he sees. He's trying to be a good leader. End of rant. Can't wait for the next negative video clip.
Horrible take by Rich here. The saying “Zach isn’t ready” was not applicable to the game yesterday. That d-line was camping in his lap. What he was able to accomplish with that being the case is a bright star of improvement. It’s obvious Rich didn’t watch the same game and is just looking at the box stats…
Rich I took screenshots of each passing play at 2 seconds. Do that and you sill see a superb performance. You will see something like 17/27 260 yards 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. The last couple of interceptions would never have happened. Throw in the drops and it would be 19/27 and 290 yards or more and 3 touchdowns or more. What is the completion pct of passes where the QB had 2 seconds to pass? And even with that performance they might have lost.
Zach Wilson is not why they lost. He played well, he struggled trying to make the plays but the Cowboys were in his face the whole game. Not his fault at all. Come on man. Wilson played solid, we just got beat!
Come on Rich...you're way better than this. Zach was NOT the issue in this game. He was hitting the simple throws that he'd been missing the last few years. He was stepping up in the pocket. He wasn't running backwards 20 yards. He only looked bad in the 2nd half of the 4th quarter when he had to try and play hero ball. This whole season had been planned around Aaron Rodgers and all of a sudden Zach is thrown in there again. The left side of the O-Line needs work. We need our best playmakers on the field. Sauce needs to catch those easy picks. We missed out on multiple scoring opportunities that would have changed the momentum of the game. Coaching needs to step up big time. I know it's easy to blame the kid after his past play but Zach was not the issue.
The kid did not play well, that's for sure. But Rich, you are correct - the coaching sucked. It's like they're trying to set him up to fail. No run game. No screen game. Consequently no play-action. Look at what the Eagles did when the Vikings were shutting down their offense AFTER ONLY THREE SERIES! The coaches need to be able to make obvious adjustments to help their players be in better positions.
This is the very definition of insanity. You know what you currently have in Zach Wilson. You should have had a veteran QB behind Rodgers in case he gets hurt. Zach should have been 3rd string just sitting for a year. This is how NOT to develop a young QB.
Jets had 4 three and outs, Cowboys had 3. The story line of the Jets having three and out after three and out over and over and just over taxing the defense is over played.
man, it was a 30-10 loss against the cowboys for their home opener while ZW getting 1 week with the starters with a terrible OL. I agree, Saleh needs to get his team under control and get breece more touches, sauce covering WR1, and OL shifts.. but dang we got screwed week 1, not the end of the world...
I think you got to think of it as the Jets can move on from Wilson knowing that he isn't good, and they can let him go after 3 seasons instead of thinking he might be ready in year 4. Condolences on Roger's that was a rough injury.
The impression I have is that the Jets had an offensive game plan coming into this game, but it wasn't a game plan specifically for this Dallas defense. Any team that really wants to compete with Dallas right now is going to have to scheme up a way to slow Parsons and the Cowboys stunts down. Otherwise running your offense will be difficult to almost impossible.
Zach Wilson needs to be able to throw and be a part of the offense. It's not far to hand cuff him and then give him all the blame. Wilson needs to audible, call his own plays as necessary and give everyone the middle finger and let it fly. He has a great arm but is so muted and put in a straight jacket he wasn't allowed to participate. Defenses THRIVE OFF of that situation.
Rich It's Wilson man. Both 9ers and Jets took a qb back to back in that draft but the 9ers were smart enough to realize he wasn't the guy and moved on to avoid ruining a good team. The Jets are stubborn and determined to eventually make it work because of were they took him.
I agree that Zach certainly has some room for growth - but come on, it's not like this supposedly "super bowl ready" defense played very well to start or end the game,
As a Jet fan who was at the game, I observed the Cowboys appeared more emotionally ready to play than the Jets. They had alot more focus and energy. Jet play calling and play design was also inferior.
I wonder how many fans bought into season tickets for the first time in their lives solely because of Rodgers? I'm sure a chunk of those people couldn't really afford the tix but made some sacrifices (or maxed out their credit cards) in order to obtain them - and after 4 plays realized "I'm f'd. I couldn't really afford these but obtaining Rodgers was the push I needed to make me want to buy season tix."
Hackett really came off as cringe in Hard Knocks. Combined with the body of work in Denver, and it feels like NYJ is going to have a locker room buy-in issue sooner than later
It’s one game. Obviously, we have to recalculate and show some initiative. I am glad this Super Bowl talk has ended for now. The reality is that perhaps, even with Rogers, we were not ready for that talk. My hope is that we make the playoffs to show the team is making progress.
Rich, I normally have your back but you’re not helping with this one. You of all people know that objectively, Zach was NOT the problem in that game and if you even watched the game, that would be apparent. Lets not talk about garbage coaching not adapting to Micah Parsons and helping old man rusty Duane out, or subbing Duane out cuz he didn’t go through camp, or the Sauce Pick 6 that wasn’t which would have put us up 14-10, or the TERRIBLE roughing calls for basic tackle attempts on key 3rd downs, or the tipped ball that would have been GW second TD, or the defense not getting off the field on 3rd down, to the cowboys being a very good team and playing to their ceiling, Zach Wilson was probably the 10th reason we lost that game. If you watched it and you know football, you know I’m right. Any other take laying blame at Zach’s feet is lazy and 100% off base. Kid was running for his life and he did look like he was seeing the field better. Only bad INT was the one he threw scrambling out the pocket with parsons on his hip and maybe the deep one he forced that Hooker snagged(but Garrett should have high pointed that and not worry about hooker - he took his eyes off the ball to look at the safety or he out plays him on that and then dropped a pass that hit him in the hands, and Breece dropping 2 screens that hit them in the hands. The fact that we feel we could have WON against a playoff team is GREAT. It’s 1-1! Stop calling the season lost. 2 months ago we were going to be “happy” with 3-3 and ECSTATIC with 4-2 after the first six weeks! All of a sudden we are 1-1 and it’s the end of the world? Get outta here with that nonsense.
This is 100% on the money. There is NO QUARTERBACK that could have made any legitimate difference with that kind of pressure on basically each and every play. This game does not fall on Zach and he looks night and day different than he did last season. Anyone who doesn’t see that has already made up their mind about him and nothing he does will matter. The play calling in this game was atrocious and no adjustments were made to stop Parsons from terrorizing Duane Brown.
Zach Wilson appeared “unready” as Rich said, because of a couple factors. The main one being the offensive line. When that’s a weakness, it’s hard for any QB to have success when they know in the back of their minds they’re likely to get hit.
Why the Jets haven't had a competent veteran backup QB to mentor Zack Wilson from the start is a mystery. How the Bengals can be sitting there with Jake Browning as their backup considering Burrow's training camp calf injury is another.
Got to come up with a better scheme for Zach. At this point, he needs a ton of RPOs to use his legs. Designed QB runs will open up play action. The playmakers are in place.
Re 4 touches for B. Hall - my wife drafted Hall and she was trying to figure out what to do for week 2, and I told her, "well Rodgers is out and Wilson sucks, they'll have no choice but to rely on Hall and the running game." Boy was I wrong...

As a Broncos fan, I concur with this statement
I sure miss the days of Richard Todd, Freeman McNeil and lack of the immediate disappointment. Jets are gonna Jets.
Tuba did better in wk 1 after Vinnie went down than Wilson did after Rodgers went down
@@slapshot68 Tupa did better than Rodgers, point of fact.
Great words from Garrett Wilson on behalf of Zach Wilson...
Give Zack a chance. Run the ball. What the heck? I thought they would use the incredible RBs to protect Zack. But Breece gets 4 touches.
Dropped two passes.
No matter what happens I need GW to get 1800 yards. Like Rich said I love Garett Wilson.
Jets getting that great number two pick for us.
The average snap to throw in the NFL should be around 2 to 2.7 seconds anyway. But collapsing that fast doesn’t help obviously
“4 snaps and 75 seconds” is the new “butt-fumble”
Went from Super Bowl aspirations to…with the first pick in the draft
Zach Wilson is not why they lost. He played well, he struggled trying to make the plays but the Cowboys were in his face the whole game. Not his fault at all. Come on man. Wilson played solid, we just got beat!
Anyone who’s played any football knows that if your line is getting destroyed, nothing good can happen.
yea, when your world turns to crap, everything stinks.
Defense was giving them HELL But this is 110% on coaching.
This is the very definition of insanity. You know what you currently have in Zach Wilson. You should have had a veteran QB behind Rodgers in case he gets hurt.
Zach should have been 3rd string just sitting for a year. This is how NOT to develop a young QB.
Garrett Wilson, man, what a great kid.
this loss is on the offensive play calling...no question
Nathaniel cant Hackett without Rodgers
Micah Parsons spent more time in the Jets backfield than Zach. It was that bad.
Jets had 4 three and outs, Cowboys had 3. The story line of the Jets having three and out after three and out over and over and just over taxing the defense is over played.
The Jets should have drafted a QB this year.
Zach Wilson looks like the High School quarterback in a musical
man, it was a 30-10 loss against the cowboys for their home opener while ZW getting 1 week with the starters with a terrible OL. I agree, Saleh needs to get his team under control and get breece more touches, sauce covering WR1, and OL shifts.. but dang we got screwed week 1, not the end of the world...
These Jets guys wear their hearts on their sleeves. I sort of love them for that.
Yesterday it was the o line, coaching, defense and Zach Wilson.overall the whole team was horrible
the coaching was to blame.. they didnt run enough and put pressure on the qb. they abandoned the run
I agree that Zach certainly has some room for growth - but come on, it's not like this supposedly "super bowl ready" defense played very well to start or end the game,
I am sick and tired of feeling this way about my NYJ. 43 yrs of agony and defeat.
I honestly didn't think Zach looked that bad.
Like we said before the season, pre season high expectations for Jets fans are the worst thing for them.
Love it! A 40 year old QB and an offensive coordinator that couldn't make it one year before being run outta town, what could go wrong?
Zack is totally right this is gonna be a loooooonnnnnnnnnnggggggg season!
As a Jet fan who was at the game, I observed the Cowboys appeared more emotionally ready to play than the Jets. They had alot more focus and energy. Jet play calling and play design was also inferior.
Man oh man. The turnaround from three weeks ago.
No one can be criticized for losing 1 game, like we do!
That schedule looks mighty different with Zach instead of Rodgers
No way the QB should be getting more rushing yards then the running backs.
"Hello? Is this Joe Namath? Uhh... what's your weekend looking like?"
Aaron Rodgers and the Olsen twins are going to do a sequel of "The New York Minute".
Aaron Rodgers tears his ACL in that game trying to flee for his life. It’s not the qb in that game
Not calling Cam Newton is a crime.
That pass rush is ridiculous. Daniel Jones didn’t look any better against it in week 1
Might have just been that Cowboy's defense. Just ask Daniel Jones.
Got to come up with a better scheme for Zach. At this point, he needs a ton of RPOs to use his legs. Designed QB runs will open up play action. The playmakers are in place.
The defense and o line was worst than Zach Wilson
As a fellow Jets fan, I feel like Rich verbalizes exactly how I feel in his rants.
Re 4 touches for B. Hall - my wife drafted Hall and she was trying to figure out what to do for week 2, and I told her, "well Rodgers is out and Wilson sucks, they'll have no choice but to rely on Hall and the running game." Boy was I wrong...
Bronco fan here, good luck with Hackett game plan and play calling Jets fan´s. .
We are here because JD & RS did not plan properly 😡 ! They brought in a 40 year old man with a struggling kid as QB #2 😱 ! With NO thought of Rodgers getting hurt 😱 ! Genius 😤 !
But you guys let Mike White go?!?! Everyone complains about Wilson but you kept him!
That field ate two Quarterbacks Achilles! It’s like a Stephen King story.
This is the Jets Jetting as the Jets do !!!🏈🏈🏈😂😂😂
As a lifelong Jets fan, it doesn’t feel like 1-1.
