I love how Saleh handles the media and the team. For the first time in a long time, it feels like there is a competent grown up running the Jets.
He's growing into the role also. He wasn't always this good talking to the media.

Terry Bradshaw was benched twice in 1974, the year he won his first Super Bowl. A good QB can absolutely bounce back and excel if they have the work ethic and strength of character.
Indeed. Those are rather large "ifs." And hat was a different era. But, certainly, it will probe Wilson's metal. In the meantime, it's Mike White's job to make sure that Wilson never sees the field in a JETS jersey, again.

I'm starting to believe more & more in Saleh as a coach! I thought, and it would've been easy for him to just stick with Wilson, but no he made a decision for the sake of the team and their chances at making a playoff berth! You got my nod Saleh!
i think this says everything about Saleh and his integrity, more so than anything else. he had to make a difficult decision here: not only to bench wilson, but to have to face the press and discuss why he made that decision. i think it was the right call for sure and sends a message straight to the defense - that saleh expects accountability from wilson, and won't stand for him not taking accountability. if saleh hadnt made this move, and wilson had another shitty game, the tension in the locker room would become unbearable and the players, would most likely stage a mutiny against wilson

When Saleh said his offense played like dogshit, you knew that mid-week he’d be making a QB change. He had no choice. And it’s the right decision.
He didn’t get benched because of his gameplay, which was awful. He got benched because of his refusal to accept responsibility

Rob Saleh really handle it best. He's disappointed in Zach's performance and more disappointed that he has to bench him.
Wow the No BS transparency from this coach, and how he protects Zach in this from the most dramatic rumors, is leadership defined. And if he can grow from this then I think this is the move. Wake him up, give him time to grow, and then bring him back.
Saleh is a great coach. The Jets got a good one, and the team looks much better than lots of us expected it to. Great work and good luck moving forward. Signed, a lifelong 49ers fan.

This is a very good move by Saleh! Glad to see he’s finally stopped coddling Zach. I’m also happy that he’s starting Mike White over Flacco. However, I still would like to see some serious consideration for Streveler! After all, Mike White only had one good game. I still think Streveler (who was part of a championship team in the CFL) has more potential upside than Mike White.

Most of the QB's back then didn't start Year 1. That's been the biggest mistake of the modern QB approach - only a very few can handle the jump to the NFL right away. They all should be seasoned, but that '5 year window' garbage forces their hands it appears.
Watch all 20 NFL games that Zach has played and then say that. After 20 games, his stats are tracking the same as Jamarcus Russell. Zach has all the physical tools, but he’s lacking something between the ears. At some point you have to stop being patient and cut your losses, especially as good as the rest of the team is now. As a Jets fan, I hate to say it, but Zach is simply not an NFL quarterback.

14-straight losses against the Patriots. 5 years of losses before he even got here. He may be as awful as I’ve seen but that stat is so bad and so long that ownership is really the only culpable party that could be responsible for 7 years of losses.

One of the first things to remember about being a quarterback is that you want to remember that you have to ALWAYS be getting better. You have to ALWAYS be learning and improving. If you regress, and don't improve, then you are OUT.
Salah is the right coach for this team. He knows the time is now to get to playoffs. Zach is holding team back. The jets need average qb play to win games. Zach is 34 out of 34 in qbr in the league enough said

Josh Allen and Herbert are outliers I guess. Mahomes sorta the same but I didn’t see him as a project the dude looked like a beast in college and as a Chargers fan I was pissed and scared knowing Andy Reid was gonna turn him into a monster. Zach Wilson is just a weird QB like I know BYU can only play the teams they are scheduled but damn. I had Mac Jones and Justin Fields as better prospects and remember being confused when Zach went up #2 in mock drafts.

I will agree that Zach needs to grow up and be a Man and a leader as the QB! However in Zach Wilson’s Defense the Jets/Wilson played against very tough Defenses that even top Qb struggle against Denver, Patriots 2X, Bills. So tough 4 game stretch & without their Best Rb. So with all that said the best thing for Zach Wilson to do is press the reset button and work as hard as he can to not only get the trust of his teamates back but firstly look at who he is a person, player, teamate!
Wilson will never take the Jets to the promised land. If he learns to be a game manager, he may be taken to the promised land by the Jets though. Will be interesting to see how it goes
