    This is my first sweater ever. I have only made crochet hats so far but this design is super easy. However, the yarn by Caron Cakes is not available in Germany or extremely overpriced. Instead I'm using the yarn Schoeller & Stahl chic & warm with a 5mm hook. Works like a charm and has a similar colour line. Also, I started with 100 chains on my hook for my sleeves because I'm very tall (1,83m/6ft) and well familiar with the problem of too short sleeves :) Thank you so much for the tutorial!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial, you explain it well and so I made my first-ever sweater!! It took me 1 week and 2 days to make, I worked on it during my study breaks while watching youtube videos or listening to music. I made mine with 4 different colours (actually 5 bc I ran out of yarn for the last few rows of one sleeve). Each sleeve is a different colour (pastel green and dark green/turquoise) and the front and back panels are half a light shade of pink and the other half a darker shade of pink.
    I have made your bucket hat in the past and even my mom and sister wear it once in a while. :)

      hey i wanna make my front and back panel half red and half turquoise and have both sleeves either color. Idk how to split the 23 rows of the neck so its exactly half/half. Can you help me maybe? I dont know if im gonna notice if one has 1 more row than the other or is it not that noticable? Thanks!!🙏🏻

    • @angelicadvd
      @angelicadvd Рік тому

      @@multicolori7722 hii, that sounds like a nice combination! So i made my neck too small but I also had uneven rows:15 rows. If I remember it correctly I continued until the 14th row and switched to the other colour for the other half. For me it isn't noticeable that one has 1 more row.
      I am also just a beginner but I hope this helps.

    day 2 of making 1 sleeve, im pretty slow at crocheting, but i am enjoying it. Hopefully I'll be back here once im finished :)
    3 seconds later and i'm back, i realized i made the sleeves waaaay to long now that i've been looking on how it fits on you. I made my sleeve from wrist to shoulder, this most probably will ruin the design but I'm too stubborn to take it apart 😭
    update: omg it has been 2 months since i have been here last and all i need to do is stitch all the parts together!
    Update: okay i finished it, i made the front and back panels waaaaay too big, i failed LMAO

      I am experiencing the same problem. I think it is because I am using a thicker yarn and I don't crochet as tightly as she does. I'm an XL and thought that I would have to add more stitches and more rows but following her pattern exactly got me a sweater that is going to be a little big on me.

    Hi Viv! I've just restarted my crocheting journey (after putting it down for years), and I absolutely love your channel and tutorials! Your instructions are so easy to follow :) I managed to make a beanie in one evening, and I get so many compliments on it!
    I had a question about this particular tutorial (or, maybe a crocheting question in general I can't seem to find an answer for online): If I wanted to taper this sweater out from my waist, how would I go about doing that? As in, how do I add an additional stitch each round, and drop one?
    I'll try my best to explain what I want to achieve: I'm basically aiming to have it straight where the sleeve attaches (obviously), but then gradually add length each round to the bottom side of it until I get to the "hem". Then make it straight, until I come to the other side, where I will drop a stitch each round until I reach where the sleeve will attach. Sort of making the jersey \_/ instead of |_|, if that makes sense. The major reason is that jerseys that go straight up-and-down tend to look horribly boxy on me.
    Is this just called an increase / decrease? Or an additional foundation stitch? I actually don't know what to look for!
    Thank you so much for your hard work - I'm excited to pick up basically all of your tutorials as projects! ❤

    • @VivCrochets
      @VivCrochets  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi, thank you! This sweater isn’t a great pattern for what you’re trying to achieve because it’s worked sideways instead of up or down.
      You might want to try the two-tone raglan sweater tutorial I did. That one, you just need to do decreases on either side when you work the body to get that taper. Or, if you’re working from the bottom-up, you’ll do increases

    • @VivCrochets

      You would do a color change in between the sleeve and the cuff and leave the yarn there (don’t carry it over). Then, when you get back to the ribbing, it’s there for you to pick up! I have a couple of color changing videos, but the one most relevant to this way is my catghan video if you’re interested in how I do it!

    Im trying to make this sweater butchave a couple ?s, firstly when making the length when you say chain 70 is that long enough for you to join to the sweater for a size large? I have made several carnigans and sweaters before, for a size large i find that chaining 103 for the body works nicley but how many chains for the sleeve length still 70? I did 90 chains but dont know if that will be too long. Next ? Is about the slip stitches and then double crotchet, the double crotchet are fine i can do them but everytime i do 10 slip stitches and do the next row i go back to doing to the slip stitch part of it and find it super difficult to make slip stitches on top of the slip stitches from the first row that is already done. Ive tried upsizing my hook size but that didnt seem to help at all 😪😢😔

    • @VivCrochets
      @VivCrochets  Рік тому +1

      Hi, I used striped yarn that had multiple colors in it so I didn’t have to do any color changes or decide when to change colors! I don’t show how to change colors, but in my vintage catghan video, I show it.
      Basically, once you complete the last stitch of the row, you want to loop the new yarn onto your hook and pull it through the loop of the previous color. Hope this helps!

    I have tried making this pattern but at the end of making one sleeve i found that i am missing stitches at the end of each row but i have done 4 or 5 sweaters and cardigans before but this never happens with the other ones, also when i make the slip stitches it makes the sleeve super small and the body of the sleeve super big so it doesn’t seem to work so is there any way of fixing this issue? I am going to try to make it with single crotchet instead for 10 slip stitches and hopefully that will make it looser and wont be so tight.

      @@VivCrochets thank you! Would you recommend also doing a neckline on the back panel too or keeping the top of that straight? I appreciate you getting back to me and so quickly, this is the first wearable I’m ever making.

    8:55 after the 10 single crochet, how much do we chain and after these chains do we enter the the first stitch right away or do we leave one (like the beginning)? Please answer

      You chain and turn at the beginning of every row: 1 chain if you’re doing single crochets and 2 chains if you’re doing double crochets. And you should work into the first stitch

    Hiiii, I hope you can answer soon, but I’m struggling with how many rows I should do for my sleeve. Should measure my wrist and go with that or?

    If I wanted to make it not ribbed, can just insert the hook normally instead of only doing it through just the back??

    The slip stitches on sleeves are also to the back loops? Because I think my sleeve will be SO big

    I'm guessing the sweater will turn out smaller if I use weight 3 yarn for this? That's the only yarn I have, what would I have to do to get the sweater to be the same size?

      That’s right, you’ll have to chain longer at the beginning and do more rows!
