@k a That is what is known as duplicating ballots. Duping ballots is not voter fraud, it is a way to make sure an incorrectly filled ballot is fixed so it can be scanned by machine (ex, someone circled a candidates name instead of filling the correct spot on the ballot, poll workers use a new ballot to transfer the voter’s ballot choices to the new ballot and have it counted)

@@egirI Actually, there are a few reasons why you’re wrong in assuming that COVID-19 is nothing to worry about.
1. COVID-19 has a case fatality ratio of 1-3%, which is actually a lot higher than one would expect; it means that for every 100 people who contract the disease, at least 1 to 3 people will die. This is comparable to the H1N1 strain of influenza, which had a case fatality rate of 1-4%, though not as high as SARS (which was over 10%). By comparison, the case fatality rate of seasonal flu in the US is less than 0.1%.
2. The SARS-CoV-2 virus is still relatively unknown compared to most strains of the influenza virus that cause the seasonal flu, and the long-term effects of COVID-19 have yet to be understood even by infectious disease experts. Unlike SARS, which killed mostly older people, COVID-19’s fatalities also include many people not within the danger zones, which is a great cause for concern because we still can’t tell who exactly will recover quickly and who will fall seriously ill.
3. Aside from the people who contract COVID-19, we also have to take into account the strain on healthcare systems around the world. Resources devoted to treating a COVID-19 patient are resources that are diverted away from those suffering from other diseases. Naturally, if the disease is allowed to spread, the number of people being admitted to hospital (i.e. those who suffer from severe symptoms) will be significantly higher; as such, a failure to control the disease’s spread among the general public will invariably lead to additional burdens on the healthcare system, which in turn will affect all of its dependants.
In short: we absolutely DO need to take COVID-19 seriously, even if it doesn’t seem that deadly to some people.

It's hard to even imagine a landslide election nowadays. The Democrats hold a ton of responsibility for losing to some 78 yr old with a 1:1 win loss record.
@colinmcc8564 with elon owning Twitter he owns so much of the narrative, same with Rogan and rumble, truth social, bubbles on Facebook, Newsmax, fox news, and more all bringing this deceitful narrative forward that Trump is the key to unlocking cheaper groceries and fixing everything, this propaganda machine has been too powerful for the traditional, presidential, and dignified campaign by the democrats to compete with. So many voters never even found out what policies harris brought forward. Simply because their algorithms figured they didn't really care to know. The simple ideas by trump that he would be good on all these very basic issues, without offering much substance, was more than enough to convince enough people to imagine their policies for trump in their own positive image. It didn't matter that biden has been getting inflation and crime down, because these algorithms don't care about letting their victims know the true numbers, it's just vibes and anecdotes, and for all the voters frustrated with their situations, happily accepted anecdotal evidence as evidence of what the larger picture is because it's usually easier to jump on board the opposition when life is tough, even when the policies and authoritarianism of that opposition are deeply concerning. Democrats need to figure out how to reach out in this new world, and not let the far right dominate the narrative, because they abuse it by using lies and manipulation to get power. Not figuring this out is an existential threat to democracy because the far right don't nearly have the respect for democracy that they should. 2020 election denialism is a very clear example. Truth (there being no evidence after all these years) did not stop this push either, which tells you all you need to know about how much they give a cr@p about democracy or the truth.
The people with power saw Barack being elected as a symbol of their dwindling power base, so the level of political attacks on him and the level to which some on the right would stoop started going downhill about this time. That time is also around the time social media became much more mainstream a la Facebook - so bigger, sh/ttier piles of bullsh/t ideas could reach far more people.
When I think back to WHEN exactly America was Great(er), it might have been moments in time but never consistently. Moments like right after 9/11 and how unified everyone was for a couple days after. And moments like the video, when the highest symbol of hope and change came to fruition with Obama's election.
A few people became terrified of what they might be losing and led a charge to retain it by any means. Social media allows this disease to spread like wildfire.
Trump brought out the worst in us.

When he won Virginia and Ohio, we all knew it was over.
For me it was North Carolina. I knew that if the map went blue that far south that the moderate states were going to follow suit. Same thing with the 2024 election. Whoever can make the biggest dent into either the red or blue territory will be taking the oath in January.
@@pigs18 Thank you for sharing. Of course, we can’t leave out NC. I did not support Obama in the Democratic primary, but like many people even across the spectrum I did respect him for doing the groundwork of building support in reddish purple states, such as NC. He will never receive as much credit as he is due for reaching across party lines and trying to give the Democratic Party a huge umbrella. That said, regarding 2024, although Harris is riding a tsunami of Democratic enthusiasm, I don’t think that enthusiasm will translate to enough votes - the fact is that Trump has played the long game and, like Obama, has done a lot of leg work in building a base in those purple states. I question whether a couple months is enough time to siphon enough independents and weak Trump supporters to win. If she does win, the margin will be razor thin.

It was one of the happiest days of my life. My first presidential election that I got to vote in, I campaigned for him in Missouri where I was from and was going to my freshman year of college. I saw him speak 3 times. When he won, I burst out of the dorm into the quad and joined hundreds of celebrating peers. We have fallen SO far, SO fast, and to be frank it all started with the racist backlash to this moment in our history, which we knew would come but which nobody truly anticipated the ferocity of.
Unfortunately Obama helped and continues to help stoke those divisions. I have a lot of nostalgia for that era but he was a letdown.
