We have a fleet of these trucks with 5.7 Hemi engines, and they have been really good to us. We also bought Chevrolets and have had nothing but transmission and brake problems with them. The main problems we have had with the Rams are some recalls on computers and electronics. We do have some exhaust manifold cracks on our older high mileage trucks, but we beat these trucks to death. We have stayed away from Fords because of their oil leak issues and their aluminum bodies are more expensive to repair. I am not saying Ram trucks are the best thing on the market, but they have been really good to us. I have one with 170,000 miles on it, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the US.

Just purchased a 2020 ram 1500 big horn V8 5.7L hemi w/etorque, gray w/the night edition package, equipment 2 package. It came with many options including heated seats & the 12" screen, auto mirrors, usb's & plugin's in the front & rear, etc. Love this truck so much! Paid 43k after rebates, financed 18k.

Great video. But you didn’t mention the front leak at the drivers door, rear glass leak or weak ac. Other than these I’m sold on a Limited Black Appearance, just don’t want to buy a headache. Nothing compares to the Ram, and I know every brand has issues, but those 3 seem constant, frequent and hard to repair, if at all, no ac fix at the moment.
Have you experienced any of these on your old rebel or have you heard of it?

Yes you should continue,in fact the manufacture should compensate you for doing a great job detailing their product.

Nice video! Thanks, although i prefer the 3.21s. That 8 speed scoots off the line. Dont need optional gears like we used to. And i prefer the anti spin over the locking diff. I think if more people educated themselves on the difference, they would go with the anti spin.
    on road = anti spin
off road = sure, locking diff instead.
But the locking diff is actually an open diff 99% of the time.

Its not the truck that is expensive its the options that you choose thats what makes it expensive the big horn is around 32,500$ msrp add 4-6 options the truck cost about 53,878$ which is the msrp of the longhorn. So you have to be careful with the options.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Offroad. My Wife and I really love this truck. It has the 12 inch screen and led pkg which really let's you see better. It has the 3:21 gears that gives me about 24 strictly Hwy. We pull a 6K travel trailer which it pulls with ease. Plenty of power. Gas mileage plumets of course to about 10 but it's a truck folks. Also I don't drive it to conserve fuel, especially pulling the trailer. I go! It's been drop dead reliable at 19000 miles with several Thousand mile trips under its belt. It is very impressive and I am well pleased.

It’s been back to dealer 5 times to fix rear window leak. Just got back from dealer and will see if it’s fixed when it rains again. If it’s not fixed it’s going bye bye. I have a 2022 Longhorn RAM with the Crew Cab, Ecodiesel, and all available options including air suspension and 3.92 gears. I love the truck, have had 0 issues (well, honestly, only 11K miles but my last 2014 RAM had 156K trouble free miles (Hemi) before someone T-boned me and totaled it. I LOVE RAM Trucks and, although I have owned all of the Big 3 and Toyota trucks, will only buy RAM, for their overall toughness, reliability, and REFINEMENT, especially on the interior. DON'T listen to what others may say that it's a Chrysler/FCA product and is therefore a piece of junk! They're wrong. The only people that say things like that are people that haven't owned one for period of time, in order to see how GREAT they really are. Buy Ram....you won't be disappointed!! I love the Ecodiesel too -- yes, you lose a second in 0-60 over the Hemi, but you gain so much more -- 40% greater fuel economy; 480 lb-ft of torque, so it FEELS GREAT, especially with a 3.92 rear gear; greater REFINEMENT; great sound; and 0 turbo lag. Plus it's extremely quiet most of the time but sounds great during acceleration and idle. And oh -- check the Delmonico Red Pearl Coat color. It's like a beautiful, burgundy color thar looks very "rich" and makes the truck stand out. One more word of advice: if you can, buy the new body style RAM- 2019 or later, not just for its looks. It's lighter by 400 lbs with more high strength steel, but yet it's 40% stiffer, SAFER, tows more, has better aerodynamics, hauls more, and gets better fuel economy overall model for model than pre-2019 RAM trucks. Plus i would highly recommend the 4 corner air suspension. It's nit that much, the ride is incredible, and it has AERO mode fir better fuel economy and TWO off road modes to raise the truck higher than normal. Ok, the advice is over, lol. Good luck and I KNOW that you'll enjoy your RAM, regardless of year, model, or engine. They're great trucks!

Almost every Ram 1500 sold with the V8 VVT MDS (with or with eTorque) is optioned with the 3:92 Axles ratio.
All of the Ram 1500 V8 VVT MDS tested by the EPA for Pollution and Fuel Millage are equipped with the standard 3.21 Axles ratio.
The 3.92 Axles increases the Max Trailer Load Rating, and does increase the acceleration rate, especially from a dead stop or low speed.
The penalty for the 3.92 vs. the 3.23 ratio is approximately 10-20% More Fuel consumption, depending on the amount of City and Highway driving.
These Axle Ratio differences are rarely ever mentioned in reviews or forums, where the poor fuel millage of the Ram is often mentioned.
As for the other Rear Axle Options, the more expensive and “Low Speed Off Road Use Only” Driver Selected “Electronic Locking Axle” is the most popular. That is because the Anti Spin Option is Not Available with the 3.92 Axle.
The less expensive and Automatic, Anti Spin Axle is a mechanical system that’s been around for over half a century. It is best suited for On Road and performs well Off Road. But it is no match Off Road for the traction provided by Electronic Locking. It also sometimes grumbles in slow tight turns, like parking maneuvers.

Ben , were you ever able to check out the "Canadian Trim", simply called the Sport? It's similar to a night edition, everything is blacked out. I traded in my 2011 Laramie for a 2019. I didn't think I'd ever like a vehicle as much as the Laramie, but I really like my Sport Crew cab 4 x 4. I bought one with just about every option available. Some of them I didn't learn about until watching UA-cam. It's only available with the 5.7 (Etorque is not an option). Leather is standard, as is the Alpine with the 8.4 touch screen (I didn't know about the Harman Kardon - that's on me, as well as the salesperson - they should all be as knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their product as you are). I like the 8.4 due to the Knobs that can be used without causing any distraction while driving. I don't have the air suspension, which is fine with me. I live in Yellowknife, in the Northwest Territories (east of Alaska). The dealership here won't sell any trucks with the air suspension due to the havoc the extreme cold weather wreaks on them (-40 is the same in both Celsius and Fahranheit). Some of the options I have that I recommend: Power running boards, the 3:92 gear ratio for the towing capability that you touched on, 33 gallon fuel tank, trailer break as well as the class IV hitch receiver, the Sport hood and of course, the panoramic sunroof. I think the only things it may not have are the seat memory function and the reclining rear seat, which isn't a problem because I tend to do all my driving while seated in the driver's seat. So far, I have had zero issues. It was manufactured just a few months before I purchased it last June, so it wasn't one of the early builds that had a few recall notices. was MSRP was $56,000 US before dealer incentives. I paid a few thousand less than 50,000. Lastly, I don't use it very often, but I like having the CD player. Don't know why they deleted it for 2020 - as if there isn't enough storage already.

I’m looking at some 2019 holdovers and now he says there is a problem with the front end suspension? Maybe l will insist on a 2020. The Bighorn is just a bit light on luxuries so I’m thinking Laramie - it has a sharp interior and Level 1 adds a lot. The dealer seems to like to order black or white exteriors and a lot f black interiors which I believe looks like a cave.

I’m in the market and this def helped. I always like to compare what is the difference between models. And sometimes I don’t have time to read the descriptions on websites so they helps. If you want to improve def add more videos or images on the upgrades as you move up in trim. I’d like to see them in person. But overall enjoyed the video.

Was helpful to listen to. I'm considering a RAM in 2021. This is a good overview to understand the Trim levels and some of the primary options. It's much better than trying to understand this from the RAM website, which I did earlier today. The site is not as simple as it should/could be to attract (potential) beginning buyers. Thanks Ben.

Good detailed explanation of the models and differences. I'm still driving my '14 Ram Sport with 3:21 and air suspension. It also has the Ram Box storage. You didn't make any mention of Ram Box for the new 2020 trucks. Are they no longer available? You also say to try buy a new truck at invoice or below invoice. Who is going to sell you anything at or below invoice? I heard many years ago that dealers use 2 invoices; a high invoice that they'll show you if you ask and another low invoice that is the actual invoice that is used between dealers for example when they transfer inventory from one to another. That's if they still in fact do that today. I find it totally rediculas the whole idea of the rebates offered these days. Back in the 70's you could buy a new truck with less money than a rebate today. That completely disguises the market and the ruins the value of something. Everything g is so hyper inflated that they gotta give you a rebate to bring it back to earth to sell it. Who in their right mi d would buy one of these WITHOUT the rebate? Who would pay full price?

Stuart Leis.....Actually, there are a 'Hold Back" price and an "Invoice" price. If a dealer shows you the "Invoice" price, it is most likely around $1500 to $2000 under MSRP. The "Hold Back" price is where you would want to negotiate from with the dealer, and that is why one could purchase a truck for less than "Invoice". Yes, Ram is still offering the "RAM BOX" storage.

I'm looking at getting a Laramie with the multi function tailgate. Your thoughts on getting it with the 12" unconnect or the 8.4" C unconnect? Is the big one really that much better and worth the extra $1300??
