NOT GOOD/10
Y'all know this is just my opinion, right?
love it or hate it, you have to admit that covid-19 is one of the most influential releases of this decade
Lebanoob
man just called a country a noob
My country lol
Technically it came out last decade, it originally dropped in the east Asian market at the tail end of 2019, but the American, European, African, and Oceanic releases didn't come out until 2020. And of course, it didn't get big international attention until 2020, so I can totally agree with it being considered part of the current decade.
What a shame that we'll probably never know who the original artist is. I bet they couldn't match the level of attention and influence with a follow-up even if they tried.
Yeah not a lot of people remember its glory days back in '19. It was real underground back then before all the mainstream normies ruined it
"My taste and sense of smell was completely gone" We already knew that, Anthony.
He must have had it when he reviewed at long last asap 😂
Yo! 😂🤣 So fucking good.
Anthony telling us to wear a mask in 2023 lol
@@malcolmxpanther imagine watching this video and laughing at wearing a mask lol
LOOOOOOOL
This is officially the most popular record of all time. Think about it, over half a billion people have listened to it and billions have heard about it.
I don't know man, I think Thriller still has it beat
It's the Drake of communicable diseases
Second to the Ground Breaking experimental album: Cancer
idk I think the Black Death still is the most influential record, one of three people in Europe had listened to it.
@@MyPimpinAfro14HAHAHAHAHA PERFECT DESCRIPTION
Covid’s debut was pretty clearly its strongest work, but its ability to remain in the discussion for this long, even with some of its more uninspired follow up projects, does speak to the unique and infectious energy it brings to the scene. Personally I’d like to see it take some time away from touring to focus its efforts into creating something a bit more novel with less of a focus on wide appeal, something that niche audiences might be more receptive to.
Lol
You are a brilliant person hahaha
It’s insane how the track Fatigue off of this one really floored me. So sleepy and woozy it would actually have me sleeping for days on end
Appetite Loss got me. Put me right off my food.
The track "(Three Day) Migraine" was unforgettable for me. It was so intense I couldn't even look at my phone, which is saying something. I recommend everyone skip that track. Yikes.
'Fatigue' was an interesting track. But the next track 'Cant get out of bed' was really unmoving to me.
I havent fell asleep so hard since I listened to Scorpion
@@user-by1cg2sk5q no this shit was different. I never heard a track off flu like this. Had me so perpetually wiped it was unmatched. For like a month
Just keep in mind that Light 2 means Anthony thinks experiencing one of the most contagious and feared illnesses in modern history is better than listening to Father of All
Loooool. Feared? By idiots maybe

Thank you Anthony. I can finally form my own opinion on Covid 19 after 3 years.
Dealing with it right now as well. Where as it's not hitting me hard, my 70+ year old dad who gave it to me has been in the hospital this past labor day weekend. He has been in ICU under a medically induced coma and intubated. He has improved enough that they will be waking him up here soon, but still a recovery ahead for sure. Scariest shit I have had to deal with in quite some time. BE SAFE PEOPLE.
covid is still very real for people who are more fragile unfortunately:( best of wishes
Hope you dad is ok. My dad has stage 4 copd so he’s been more or less housebound for the last few years 😢
hope he gets better soon and that you and your family are all ok
I hope your dad recovers soon. I wish republicans would take the virus seriously and abide with safety protocols so others don't have to suffer.
Sending you and your pop the best. I really hope things are improving every minute.
Anthony you can't give the album a 10 just because of the line "I'm dying because of the COVID-19 Virus, ice on my wrist."
quite possibly one of the bars of all time
honestly sounds like a Nav bar
Bars
I'm icy I'm clean
Chance got a worse score than Covid-19
My grandma had a harsh sickness because of this. I didn't know how to feel about it until you posted this video, thanks Melon!
Hope she’s doing ok
the same way everyone does: it sucks.
My grandpa passed away because of it
The fact that this video, if you weren't paying attention, sounds just like an album review in tone and delivery shows just how much of a professional you are, Anthony.
My Covid cough stuck around for months, and a cold drink can still set it off almost 2 years after my last infection.
Take some ivermectin
Thank you! I’m new to your channel and I found the track “Sneeze About Me, I’m Dying of COVID” to be very lackluster. You gained a subscription 😊
really cool concept anthony! hope you do a classic review on the bubonic plague, easily one of the greatest sickness
I heard a lot of the demos were destroyed in the Great Fire of London
Yo, I can't wait 'til he does an Ebola review.
bubonic sounds funny 3/10
record’s finally getting the recognition it deserves
If it was called "Co Vid A Butterfly" you would've given it a 10...
Really had to think about that one
As someone who almost died of covid a few months ago, I personally would've given it a Not Good rating
Love your empathy, positivity, consideration, and humor on the topic. As an individual disabled with long COVID since April 2020, I can attest to an outcome far worse (though still short of death, of course), and while it is en vogue to bash those who remain concerned for good cause, I very much appreciate your measured, mindful response and review of the virus.
agreed
can't believe you gave this worldwide-known album a 19/10. very life changing album.
Changes life so much sometimes it stops it
I’ve listened to this one 3 times now, it’s kinda tough to get through if I’m honest.
Really wish they condensed the runtime
He should’ve posted this spring of 2021
it's a little experimental, give it a couple more listens and it will click right away
3 times?? I hope your taste gets better
Holy shit, thank you so much for posting this Anthony. I've lost two family members to Covid (one this year) and as an immunocompromised musician it's been... well... life changing to not be able to perform to the same capacity that I used to. Means a lot to hear anyone speaking about Covid, let alone someone with your platform.
I’m so sorry for your losses, hope you’re doing ok x
Aw shit man. Covid is definitely still around and people don't realize how bad it can be for someone with lower defenses. Sorry for your loss.
Damn bro, sorry for you losses man
I'm sorry for your losses.

definitely make sure to rest after acute covid infection. rest is so important during that time for preventing development of long covid, which many don’t experience the onset of symptoms for months after their initial infection.
Tbh I think a lot of people underrate this project. It’s a great listen in isolation(not the best to listen with others). Plus it will always be remembered

Nice lol
it still sucks in isolation but at least you won't subject others to hearing this garbage
This was my favorite albums of the last couple decades the melodic mass hysteria along with the rhythmic yet relaxed deep anxiety and fear really makes this a great listen
Literally effected the entire world
I wholeheartedly agree. I had already sensed that this was going to be a generational record since the first listening party in Wuhan, but it truly delivered once it was formally released in the United States.
That said, I kind of viewed the Delta rerelease as a cash grab.
@@GodsSon987affect, effect or infect 'tis the question.

@professorXcross wrong spelling on my part, but I'm still right because it's all of the above 😎
Glad to see you review this album although unfortunately you forgot to mention the Delta and Omicron remixes which vastly improve on the original in every way. Hoping we get a redux review soon 🙏

COVID’s first album was the best. I think it’s really grasping at relevance after being on top for so long.
But when variant came out in 2021 they really came on their own. Artistically and commercially
The sophomore album Delta was awesome though.
Gasping* at relevance
Yeah Wuhan was much better than Omicron.

Great review Anthony, although I am a bit confused by the part where you gave it a non rating because “You can’t rate something that doesn’t exist.” Keep up the great work!
Please tell me that your not saying that you think COVID-19 doesn't exist. Because if that IS what you are saying, it would be an utterly ridiculous thing to say.
@@LaStarza61 nah he’s just doing the “Fantano says outlandish things” bit
In all seriousness, wishing you a quick recovery, Fantano.🙏🏾
I jokingly wish for the same. Maybe he could borrow someone else's sense of taste, in case his doesn't return, or even if it does.
thank you for posting this! real rest is BORING, like watching paint dry boring, but worth it to prevent long COVID (which, trust me, you do not want). thank you so much for encouraging folks to mask and using your platform responsibly! we don't see enough of that and lots of places just hit record high numbers of cases. @@libbyphone6747 Fr. Incredibly boring, could be a bit shorter
Now I can finally form an opinion on COVID-19, thanks Melon!
I used to think that COVID-19 was actually a banger.
But after watching the melon give his takes I changed my mind, it's NOT GOOD.
Imagine not realizing that “Rich Men North of Richmond” is about politicians in Washington DC
imagine still caring about some dumb centrist
Imagine your favourite genre of music being “grift”
Imagine basing your opinions on the opinion of a person who is a grifter himself and a rich white American millionaire who is super ignorant. You can’t simply see that Fantano is no different from the people on the right like Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, or any other neo-Nazi right-wing apologist. He is just as bigoted, patronizing and racist as them.
I had a similar experience. I’m an extremely healthy person (only had one illness that knocked me down for longer than a day pre-covid) but COVID flattened me for four days. After that I was mostly better, and within a week I felt totally fine, but the cough and limited lung capacity lasted an entire month. I think it just genuinely damaged my lungs and it took a month to heal.
Also for anyone else who had a mild time with covid who thinks they don’t have to take it seriously now, additional infections have compounding effect. It will be worse the second time than it was the first, and so on after that too. Please be careful out there y’all. 🙏
Please put an N95 or better mask on your face when you're sharing air with others.
Him making a review-styled video on getting covid is the best thing on youtube (get better soon btw ❤)
Had covid back in January 2022 and it was the worst I've probably ever felt. Never lost my sense or appetite, but my throat swelled up bad and the coldsweats I had were miserable. Covid in general is just so odd the variety of symptoms people feel or don't feel.
Ain't no way "Honestly, nevermind" is as good as COVID
Bruh 🤣
"Straight Outta Wuhan" will always be their best record. Their vibe was so contagious
Shut up,you conspiracy theorist! How dare you speak the truth🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
When the first album dropped I listened to it almost 4 weeks straight in my room. The only time i ever left the room was to use the bathroom which was interesting. Out the window the National Guard were removing bodies from the building due to the reaction videos people were trying to make to its debut
Thanks for reminding people that COVID still exists ❤
it's honestly super refreshing for me as someone who is immunocompromised (we haven't just gone away!) to see someone who is not still talk about this disease at all. thanks anthony.
You’ll be fine
@@joshuamcalistair2787 COVID isn't over. Wear a mask.
"[W]e have really solid evidence around the awful cumulative effects of reinfections. If you’ve had three infections, your risk of hospitalisation is about eight times higher than for a first infection [Bowe et al, 2022]. In particular, the risk of heart attacks, blood clots and other cardiac issues is significantly increased [Bowe et al, 2022]. So, we should be doing everything we can in work environments to prevent reinfection."
- World Health Organization adviser and long COVID-19 sufferer Dr Clare Rayner in "The Seriousness of Long COV*D"
“Without ambiguity, our research showed that getting an infection a second, third or fourth time contributes to additional health risks in the acute phase, meaning the first 30 days after infection, and in the months beyond, meaning the long COVID phase. [...] This means that even if you’ve had two COVID-19 infections, it’s better to avoid a third. And if you’ve had three infections, it’s best to avoid the fourth.”
- Ziyad Al-Aly, MD, a clinical epidemiologist at the Washington School of Medicine in St Louis, in "Repeat COV*D-** infections increase risk of organ failure, death"
"I'd love to say we're ... coming out on the other side and we can think of COVID more so like the common cold. Unfortunately, that is not the case. ... That is eminently clear from all of the data. This is not even just like the flu. ... This virus is still very different from any other virus we have seen in our lifetime."
- Dr. Susan Cheng, cardiologist at Cedars Sinai in "Young people are more likely to d*e of heart attacks post-COV*D, study finds. But why?"

Never knew melons could also catch it. Thank you for widening my botanical horizons.
“Something bad happened” by Jerry Rocket and the go go girls is HANDS DOWN the best covid themed concept album ever made.
Underrated LP in my opinion. Love the review, Anthony!
Be careful working out. You gotta take it easy for a while after getting sick or risk long-covid or experiencing other health issues, regardless of if you presently feel symptoms in any way.
I gymed after I got it and I think it worsened the pericarditis it gave me. So yeah wait a good week or 2 afterwards and just do light exercises for a bit.
yeah def smart move. a lot of people don’t realize the worst part about the sickness is long covid issues
I took one week off, and then have been hitting PRs since. It boosted my motivation to lift heavy
and also just as courtesy to others at the gym you really shouldn't go out if there is a possible outcome of going into a coughing fit
I got this last November, And honestly I completely agree. Glad to see Fantano has a take I agree with for once.
Yes, thank you for speaking up! You are absolutely right. Clean air (ventilation, filtering) and respirators like N95 and KN95 can help you avoid infections. Just remember to fit abd seal the respirator on your face so that all air flows through the fabric. And if you get sick, rest and take it easy as long as you can. Take care ♡
i had that residual cough for 3 months post recovery. hope yours goes away far sooner
The first day I had Covid it took every ounce of strength I had to simply move. I coughed so hard for 2 weeks that I would throw up from the gag reflex of that hard of a cough. The lingering cough lasted like a month and a half and I was thrilled when it finally went away. That shit was almost a year ago and I still think about it. Glad you’re doing a bit better melon.
Damn that sounds awful
I actually caught this track on a bus a couple weeks before you did. Got a 103 fever, with lingering post-nasal drip (normal for me in sickness) and subsequent cough. Smell and taste came back literally yesterday, and pnd/cough is subsiding as well
I’m 16 month into Long Covid. I cannot recommend it to anyone! Lots of serious problem I hope you avoid!
Being immunesuppressed since 2 years, it is still so frightening for me to see that more and more people don't take care about vulnerable people that much anymore. So big big THANK YOU for kicking it out
yeah lets just all mask up and get into lockdowns again so a small minority can stay safe lmfao if you're that weak get a fucking booster, wear your mask and stay inside don't get on people's nerves, we got lives to live.
If this project was called “To Covid a 19fly” you would have given it a 10
He finally decided to review the best selling record of the past three years
Imagine he gives COVID-19 a better review than MBDTF. Think the world may implode
Honestly, this review was a breath of fresh air. Finally an opinion I can agree with, showing travesty that was this new LP. I am sure when the new record is released next year I won't be saying the same, but glad to finally agree with the melon for once.
Anthony has confirmed that COVID is in fact officially better than Tones and I's Welcome to the Madhouse
I liked the first album, or the second, I can’t remember. It’s just rehashing the same concept with different variations by now and it gets old real fast. I remember it took my breath away and I thought that was it, but then it completely wiped my smell and taste in things for a week. It was wild! Really goes to show how powerful that record was. Really postmodern in how it questions taste in art itself and how it’s possible to appreciate everything without smell. It was so weird. I know a friend who hasn’t gotten back his smell still. I hate this thing.
Was my first time listening to Covid too. My wife went to a Covid concert and came home talking about it. I didn't really want to hear it, but she wouldn't give up. After a few listens of her coughs it really did hook me. Missed a week of work listening to the latest variant album. Getting kind of tired of it now.
I have covid right now too. Smh. Ngl it has knocked me tf out.
Hope you feel better bro

such a sick project, had a lot of impact on me, really felt it😔❤
A poignant reminder that it’s not over and will likely not be over for a long time if at all
This literally confirms that Welcome to the Madhouse is a full 2 points below the COVID-19 virus
Covid completely eluded me for almost 3 years despite them being the hot sh*t at my wife's school every time they dropped a new interpretation of their genre bending style. My local MC inoculated me and I felt relatively safe, how bad could it be?
Then, just before last Christmas, it hit us hard. Their show was feverish and really blew me away, I was literally breathless for a couple days - 2 of which I had to lie down and contemplate life, death and tea and sleep all day.
Anyway, I had no taste to begin with, the coughing lasted a good 2 weeks and it got old soon, no recommendation from me, 1/10.
Please review the Spanish Flu next.
One of the most underrated albums ever, period.

Only Room on Fire could save him
RIP Lindsheaven Virtual Plaza / Mount Shrine, he was a great young artist who died from Covid
Gave this one a spin last summer, and I gotta say for two weeks it was really all I could think about. I didn't even leave my house, covid was such an earworm that it felt like it had infected my whole body.
That being said, at a certain point I'm not sure why I was still fucking with it because I really wanted to go outside or really do anything else. Worst part is that a year later, I still have a lingering off-and-on-again feeling of general grossness. Gotta say, I wouldn't have given this thing a spin if I knew it would be so persistent.
It's not good.
I've had it three times. It was significantly worse each time. I had longterm breathing issues that lasted about a year.
Have you been vaccinated?

I played this at a party and it was so amazing everyone else got jealous of my superior taste and started trying to take the aux away from me.
Also just gave/giving COVID a listen for the first time. Your experience mirrors mine. Sniffles and congestion at first and then a full -on descent into the fever and chills, aches and pains for like 48 hours. Now I'm coming out of it, and yes, the lingering cough is also annoying. 0/10. Not Good.
Feel better, man.
First time for everything! Sadly I caught it in November of 2020 and again in September of 2022. First time was longer, but the second time I felt way more beat up. Double vaccinated and boosted in 2021. It can still get ya. Stay safe everyone!
