When millions of Indian youth are still unemployed, asking a small proportion of people to work 70hrs per week and calling it as national development seems to be very stupid.

@@spg6651 You know what is development??
      Wait, let me explain.
Development is when we bevome progressive with our country many infrastructures, building smart cities, making metro, using more digitalised products. It's not when you exploit people and call it a development. We can use UPI because it is easy to pay and also used in grocery stores . Note that grocery store doesn't require any employee to count that money, owner can do that. Computer will be superior to type writer because you can change your mistakes and it will be quicker not like type writer in which you can't do a single incorrection even by mistake. It will add stress to employees life. E mail is quicker and can be quickly get a response. Development are these. Not making employees " Sl@v€s "....

I have a lot of respect for Narayan Murthy. He might have put in a lot of effort in the early days of Infosys, working very long hours, as Sudha Murthy mentioned. However, there's a difference between working hard for your own company and expecting employees to work 70 hours a week. Narayan Murthy knew that if Infosys became successful, he would be the owner. But as employees, even if we work tirelessly, there's uncertainty about whether the company will reward us or let us go when it achieves success. That's why I strongly disagree with his statement.

It is very difficult to work 70 hrs per week, tell me after working 8 hrs a day we will get tired or not? If we are tired then can we be productive after that, so even if you work more than 8 hrs a day productivity will not increase whether it is a labour work or intellectual it doesn't matter.

I think Mr. Narayan Murthy has lost his senses long time ago. If we bluntly follow his advice there will be no more good family, good friends, good social relations will be left over in the society. Wealthiest resource of this nation is not money or commodities it is human personnel with good health and clear mindset. Corporates want to exploit us in these areas also.

First of all getting selected for corporates in respective roles seems sometimes Hard and after that these miracles will happen
bcz of the office politics work hours
    No social life,
No one cares your hard work,
    No private life,
    No free time,
Begging Permissions for every single leave,
    No health,
    Stress,
    Anxiety,
    Sleeplessness,
    Depression,
    Lack of emotional health,
    No time for extra activities,
    No leisure with family,
You are just a number not a member like human, for the corporates
Im not saying it is applicable for all but some companies do provide great benefits and good work life balance for their employees

Employee is not a shareholder they are there to earn a living not to be abused by these elitist . Who have sufficient money in and a personal stake in the company . I would like to work on my company for 70 hours a week but not at anyone's company where I do not have a substantial stake into . His words are cruel and stupid at the same time .

    Work life balance debate-
    Explanation -
    1. One rule can't be applied to all as every individual is different with capabilities, dreams and nature.
    2. There are people who are extraordinary and ambitious like Narayan Murthy.. which may be account only 5% of total population..
    3. So what about other 95% population who are very ordinary in capabilities and ambition..?
    4. What about per capita income and purchasing power..?
    5. If all people will focus on one job then what about other industries.. ?how other industries will get customers from..?
    6. Work life balance will balance all industries.
    Conclusion -
    1. Narayan Murthy philosophy is good but is only applicable for few people and not for the most of the population as it will create imbalance in society..
    2. Instead work life balance will improve per capita income and purchasing power of an employee which can become a customer for other industries..
    3. So work life balance philosophy will help accelerate economy of the nation..
    Indian constitution says
    सत्यमेव जयते..
So am I telling the truth..?

    This redeculas sqezing employee sweet,
Same way Will they provide triple their salaries?
India should have employee benefit policy. And their work hours per day 6/7 hrs per day beyond that it's illegal
After covid all employees moved to their hometowns and only remote/wfh only possible in feature in IT jobs
And add the employees as partners so they feel like they work in their own company max time

How much Money Infosys is spending on R&D? and how many products did they develop?. We should be doing smart quality work not hard work. Even in the age of ML and AI where automation is at peak, Mr. Murthy is counting the no of hours a person should work instead of looking for productivity.

Singapore counterpart team of our poject literally does same work like us but they are paid 120,000$ per annum. But we are getting paid 14,000$ per annum.
Argument which supports that paygap is cost of living. If my country has groceries, fruits and vegetables selling at lesser price because of abundance of availability and Real estate cost is lesser. I should be called the blessed one for having opportunity to save major chunk of the income. But it doesn't work like that.
Sunce cost of living is less in India, employees from that country shall be paid peanuts.

This video is missing the whole point. This basically built a strawman argument about how Infosys is exploiting its workers and not paying them and attacking that. Well that may be true, but that is not what the discussion is about. Human beings are remarkable creations. And decisive statements like "No one can work productively for more than 4-5 hours" is complete nonsense no matter who said them. It depends on your motivation. Because if you are having fun doing it then you can work productively for much longer. And if you dont enjoy what you're doing then you cant even work an hour. I studied for 12 hours a day 7 days a week, when preparing for JEE and that was the best time of my life. What is implicit in what NM said was find something worth it. Something that truly inspires you and then work 70 hours. He never asked you to work a dead end job at Infosys. That is just what people are misinterpreting what he said so it is easier to defeat the argument.
