Programming a new key for Dodge Grand Caravan is VERY EASY! Here’s how you can do it!

in this video i will be showing you a very easy method to program your Car remote(RKE Fob - remote keyless entry fob) in a few easy steps. you don't have to pay $$$$ for your dealership to get a spare car key fob , do it yourself and its very easy and you will be amazed :D on how fast it can be done.. i bought new programable key fobs from amazon and did programming myself which i have shown in this video.
You need at least 1 Manual Key/remote or 2 remotes to program additional ones.

This will not work with any Dodge Grand Caravan that was done after 2010. This was possible before 2010 Dodge. Starting from 2010 Dodge is unfortunately not allowing to copy key fob yourself. But anyway - good job with this movie. It shows the whole process very good.
Thanks for the comment, i believe this process can be done with 2 electronic keys for newer models like commented by other people for whom it worked watching this video. are you trying to program with 1 manual key and 1 electronic keyfob?

In case anyone else has the same issue - (for my Dodge Grand Caravan 2019) I only received one fob from the dealer with the physical key inside and when inserted, the physical key showed on the screen as "damaged" so this method didn't work for me, I'm assuming because I only had one "key" at that point - because the fob did work. Anyway, I had to purchase the OBD device off amazon and use the app - I used the i Car Pro and had to purchase the VIN license for the vehicle (20.99) and it worked for both new fobs from Amazon I was trying to program. Super easy.
So it worked even though it was “damaged”?

I am trying to program a 2016 dodge caravan key fob remote, does your method require that the key have a chip in it? Or does it matter the key I have to use is not chipped
not required to have chip on the key. do you have original remote that isn't working anymore? its better to have atleast one remote even if that doesnt work.
Can you do this with a fob from another dodge caravan or does it have to be a new fob only
you can re-program any key, but its a must to have 2 keys( like shown in video).

You may try one manual key and one original keyfob to program duplicates like shown in the video.
I have two old fobs that start the van, but I cannot get the program light to work

If I have lost 1 remote. Can I do this procedure using only the second remote (the FOB + the physical key inside the remote)? Would the FOB and the physical key inside count as 2 disctint keys? (Dodge Grand Caravan 2020)

Here's my thought about it: If you are able to start the car with the manual key thats inside the fob, then certainly you can follow the procedure given in the video to replicate another new Keyfob (electronic key). Is this programming feature available in all trims?? For example I have a 2014 Grand Caravan SXT. If I purchase these keys I should be able to program them as you did?
I am not sure but it should be similar , do a quick check of whether the car is beeping (indication of programming mode that I had shown in the video?)
I have a 2010 sxt and cannot get it into programming mode with this technique

What the difference between this method and purchasing the simply key programming module which connects into the obd. I have recently purchased a Grand Voyager 2008 model with only one key.
with the programming module you can program the new keyfob without the need of duplicate keys.
Managed to get my EZ key from amazon and programmed it into the vehicle. I only had the 1 key when I purchased it but now have 2 working keys so either way I am able to program an additional 3 rd or 4th key using this method or with the EZ tool!!

thank you for your video nice and simple explaning, i have 3 key fobs all three start the car but only one will open the doors etc the other 2 do not, the key if inserted does nothing wont the car ignition to any positiion its like its too loose its the black key, so what do you suggest ?
Hi, sorry for the late reply, I suggest you buy dummy keys off of Amazon and program the way I had shown you in the video. That way, you can use just new keys and still be able to lock, unlock and start the car.

Will this work on 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan?..I have one key that only locks. The rest no longer have remote ability (i have put new batteries) but do start the van.
Yes I think it should work. Please try and let me know. Alternative would be to program via the RKE programmer from amazon

My wife just bought a 2013 caravan and it only came with a key and no fobs. If i order two key fobs can i program them with only the key, or do you need an original fob to do it?
In my opinion, you must have atleast one keyfob to make duplicate keyfobs. With that being said, you can give it a try with the manual key that you have: See if you hear that beep sound(car going in to programming mode) like shown in the video, if it does, then you should be able to.

I have a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan, with two fobs, I can't program the third new key after I followed all those steps. Not sure is that related to an engine warning I had.
did you ordered the new dummy keys from amazon from the link i had given in the description? did you wait for the beep after moving the car to programming mode?
2010 caravan sxt does not flash for programming mode after second key, still treats the new/third one as badkey
Damn, then could you check the owners manual on how to move it to programming mode? probably its slightly different for your car?

yes it should work. but please make sure you are ordering a programmable remote keyfobs suitable to your car.

This would not work for my 2013 Town & Country. It never went into programming mode. Brought the new fobs to a parkin$95. Still a great deal.

@@puttasampath Yes, both of my Fobs start Van. Pings, remove fob, insert other fob, pings, remove insert new fob, pings, red 🔴 on screen flashing. Fob doesn’t program, nothing on new fob works. Saw video that you need security code for vehicle that you can get from dealer with vin #, but a machine is needed to program fob.
@@rodneyfodor1899 they key is to wait for few seconds once it shows the red icon to move the car to programming mode. Can you try waiting for few more seconds each time with your original keys? Just like how to shared in the video?

Could be the remote buttons inside have gone bad. Open the key fob and you can check
Do you need 2 original key fobs? Why can't you use the same key fob twice instead of 2 separate key fobs? I mean turn the original key fob to the on position for a few seconds take it out then put it back in and turn to the on position again. Wouldn't that do the same thing?
The keys have different ID numbers, when you do this, you need two "Authorized" keys in order to program/add a additional key.
Not necessary. i have shown in this video that you can do programming of a new key if you just have 1 Manual Key and 1 Keyfob.
Hello. My keyfob will start the car, but the doors can not be locked or unlocked with it. It will not work the buttons. I already changed battery and cleaned buttons and still nothing works. Is the keyfob broken or just not programmed? I only have one.

Hi, yes I think it’s possible to program another key with just 1 key fob. try following same process as I gave in the video and let me know. Alternative would be to get a fob programmer from Amazon.

@@feyrrari no, you need atleast one original remote to be able to pair another one. If you don’t have any remotes, you need to program the key with a key programmer from Amazon.

I tried on my 2013 Grand Caravan but it didn't enter the programming mode. The dashboard shows only the engine light.
Have you tried the steps given in the description of the video? There’s a way to program it via the car connector.
I have a 2019 Dodge Caravan. The first key that you put in my ignition won't even turn once it's in, so I can't proceed any further. This method didn't work for me.
So you don't have another electronic fob? why aren't you able to turn on the Ignition with manual key? doesn't it go all the way in to be able to turn?
@puttasampath I have one original key fob from when I bought my vehicle. I ordered 2 key fobs off of Amazon and they both have to be programmed.
@puttasampath so yes...to answer your question, I have my original key fob. I even tried taking the silver key out of the key fob, stuck it in the ignition, and it wouldn't turn over.

@@KeithStinerTunes may be the key is not the right one then? i don't understand why the keyfob that came with the car which has a manual key wouldn't be able to turn the ignition. I would assume that would be the case if the Key is too short and it is just enough to open the driver door from outside.

whats the issue you are seeing? you need to wait for that first beep sound. only then you can program the next one.

which car model do you have? does it not beep when you place your original key or when you place the programming key?

@@eee19618you mean when you turn on the car? Does the audio system work on your car ? May be an issue with your cars speaker system. Check atleast the red light 💡 that glows at the same time as it sounds.

@@puttasampath No issues, I followed all of the steps, not difficult. But the new fob does not work. Your dash is different but here is what I can tell you. A programmed key when turn to the on position, will have a solid red dot. A non-programmed key will have a blinking dot, at least on my Caravan which is a 2010.

@@puttasampath No, the two programmed keys go in fine and the red dot is solid. I followed the steps numerous times, using different time frames, 10 seconds,12, 15 in the on position then whenever I put in the new fob, the red dot blinks, I put in the on position for 10-15 seconds, still blinks. I remove new key and it does not work.
