    I have been watching your channel for the past week and I have to say that I am highly impressed with how you edit your videos to show the charge rate and and time it took to charge the vehicle!! And I am extra impressed with how you calculate at such a good rate what charge the vehicle needs to get to another station!!
    I am starting to learn a great deal by watching your channel how the charging works and how great the car drives long distance! Although I am not a big fan of driving long distance!! But its great to know TESLA has built a vehicle that can hold its weight on the roads and highways!!
    It is one of my highest goals to try and purchase a TESLA next year hopefully!! And watching your channel helps me to learn about the vehicle before purchase!! I am now becoming a big fan of TESLA model vehicles!!!

    I live in Arizona and have made three trips back and forth across Texas to Alabama. Two comments next time you’re in sulfur Springs go to the town square while you’re charging there are two boxes that look like big mirror cubes. They were actually restrooms that have a one-way mirrors while you can see out nobody can see in. Another great drive is to use the ferry to Galveston Island we did it coming back to Arizona. Last charge was Lake Charles. And then drove down the Bovair peninsula and caught the ferry across to Galveston the next stop is Webster. You will not regret doing stop in Sulfur Springs and walking around it’s like a little touch of Mayberry. And the drive along the gulf to Galveston is quite fun. These are just a few of the great things to do when driving across Texas.

    Hey Kyle, my wife and I met you at Fully Charged Live in Austin TX. I drove my Bolt EV there from Arkansas. You left the day after the event heading North... Unfortunately for me I was traveling South into that horrible wind, going down to Corpus Christi TX to visit family! I charged up to 90% (more than enough normally) and fought that wind all the way. Towards the end, I was driving well below the speed limit with my hazards flashing... I arrived at the relatives house with 0.8% (yes, zero point eight percent) SOC! That is the lowest I have ever taken the battery on the Bolt.

    Kyle, can you do a video on what your process is of selecting supercharger locations and level of charge? I love watching your road trips. I can't wait to do my own when my Model Y gets delivered. My gut feeling would be to charge and "fill up" the battery each time I stop in case the next charger is out of order or full. That must be the "range anxiety" that I've heard about.

    • @andguent
      @andguent 4 роки тому

      The car now knows how many charging stalls are out of order. My local supercharger has 8 stalls but the Tesla app on my phone and the car navigation both say 7 of 7 stalls are available. Also I highly recommend checking out abetterrouteplanner as it does a lot of the charging math and routing for you.

  • @ronb4633
    @ronb4633 4 роки тому

    Enjoyed the video but you were reported charging speed vs your reported numbers are off by quite a bit. Is there a lot of loss during charging that would explain this?
    Example Texarkana you stated that charging was stable at 150kW yet 45.63kWh and 24min would be 114kW. HVAC heater on full (which the weather didn't seem to need) would only be like 7kW?

      Agreed,. But there are some deals on Chevy Bolt EV.. I've seen low $20's for a new one .
      At that price it's a compelling choice..
      If you are in the market for a new car at all.
      Personally I have some philosophical issues with Tesla, mostly right to repair and ability to repair.
      No doubt that they are technically superior in many ways.
      I just absolutely detest the interior on the Model 3 and Y, and the Model S is an extremely complicated and expensive vehicle to service after the fact if you bought one used.

      No you can't. Go on their website pick the standard + RWD, It says $35,000. But that's after estimated savings.
      The actual price is $39,000.
      apparently there may be some way to actually get the $35,000 model if you know how to custom order something on their website.
      It's still not a terrible price for a car. But they throw that $35,000 price around a awful lot when they don't actually really sell it and for a long time they actually did not sell it at all You could not get that cheaper model. It was available for like 4 weeks in the beginning and then they ended the line. And then brought it back but as I said apparently hidden in the website ordering options.
      I'm considering an electric myself. And right now the Chevrolet bolt EV is your best price. Sticker MSRP is way too high and always has been. But Chevy is knocking big money off I've seen brand new 2020s for $23,000.
      it's not as luxurious as a Model 3 it's not as fast, but actually has more rear seat interior legroom and headroom and it's a hatchback.
      The only real negative on the Chevy Bolt is the DC fast charging speeds are pretty slow by today's standards.

    These videos are very misleading and unrealitic..this so called road trip is done with free supercharging..average people cant shell out 70 to 80 grand or get a free tesla...I want to know the range and actually cost to charge ..not how cool the car is..I want to purchase 1 but I doubt I'd be able to afford the ones with free supercharge for life.
    I cant get a real answer and it's very aggravating. Lol you guys giggling like girls recharging as you go but its litterly costing you nothing but the coffee and food your buying..lol

      It’s so cheap anyway if you have to pay it doesn’t matter. All of the pricing is on Tesla’s website - go check it out. This is solved with a quick google search my friend. Add in their pricing model with either the per minute (I always say how long we charged) or by kWh (which I always show) and do your math. It’s probably around $3-6 on average per stop.

      I bought a new 2021 3LR AWD on March 31st 2021 for less than 50K. Considering performance, technology, and low to no fuel cost (charge at home) it it absolutely the best value in a car anywhere. I now have 1800 miles on it between quick trips around NC and VA and spent about 1/3 the cost of fuel at Superchargers. My range at higher than normal speeds (10 over speed limits on the hwy) is a solid 280 miles IF you charge to 100% which I don’t do. It is more efficient to charge just enough to roll in low to the next charger.
