The irony of popular artists who say "don't worry about likes", they always have more than 1k likes on everything they posts
Yea but when they say that their art is deserving of that number cuz they do all the right things
Unpopular artists on the other hand...
@@MrSaltyWasTaken i have some moots that make the crispiest most delicious pieces of art one is basically the second coming of yoneyama mai (im glazing a bit but trust me) and they only have like a few hundred followers total when i thought they had like atleast 14k... actually underrated artists make me want to mald
@@MrSaltyWasTaken There's many unpopular artist who do all the right things and still aren't able to find success no matter how hard they work though. Are they not deserving of reaching the same amount of likes and interaction as popular artists?
And they’re right. Every person was unpopular online at some point. They’re talking from a place of personal experience. A couple of people are responding with valid takes like how they know an artist oomf who’s amazing but only gets double digit likes if even. This video isn’t for that, what those artists need at that point is to learn how to network and spread their art cause the algorithm alone cannot be relied upon for growth on these platforms. This is more for people who haven’t been putting in working towards improvement and despite maybe trying to network no one is interested, so they’re mad.
Though imo I think an artist shouldn’t be attached to social media at all outside of using it to track your progress. It’s easy to get into the mindset of creating art for likes instead of addressing your bottlenecks and focusing on improving to a level you’re happy with.
@@AnnieandNeneif that is true then they do deserve it more than most people, idk their situation or how much algorith has fucked them over
It's either you follow the trends but loose your individuality, or embrace your style but face backlash, its one or the other sadly.
True but there is a way of drawing how you like and still doing things to grow
Literally how dare UA-cam HIDE this from me for FIFTEEN MINS
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
How dare they hide this from me for FIFTEEN FUCKING HOURS
I have a friend who also used to feel very insecure about his art but when he opened up and I gave him help he grew a lot. So much to the point that his almost pretty much better than me. Never give up, don't compare your art unless you want to learn from them or you want to improve
..
REAAAAL!!
Thank you Goku for that heart felt speech at the end
GOKU IS THE GOOOOAT!!!!
It took me around 6 to 7 years to finally understand that the only way to grow on any social media is giving something of value for people ! Ill take my channel for example, i used to only do speedpaint for 6 to 7 years and i never got more than 20 views ! Now i learn fundamentals ( because my god its hard ) and make tutorials to emulate korean's and japaneses illustrator artstyle ( the type of art you see in gacha games ) and my first video got around 800 views in weeks and my second one has around 1k in only 3 weeks ! So yeah ! Do things that people are interested to see, and give value or good reasons to follow you and learn to improve your art ( by practicing fundamentals ) and editing and views and followers will come fast ! ( also im french so sorry if my english is weird ) But basically : Your video is right !
YESSS!!!!
also your english is amazing dont worry about it!!!!!
W video as usual👌 ive always known that its rare for people to actually be underrated bc whenever i see good art it usually has a high following
Thankssss youuu
Bro, you art got so much better, it's literally amazing because it was so little time, I hope I can see more of you work in the future :)
thank you so much,i hope i can get even better!!!!!
I'm hapy to see another small art channel like this. Lets unite!
Small channels strong
@@MrSaltyWasTaken
Yes 💪
Good vid as always. Haven't seen anyone talk about this topic yet, but you got all the points right
im happy to deliver!!!
I've been there, my art was gaining a lot of attention back in 2021 during the rise of madness combat, I enjoyed it but it gets tiring really quick so I quit the community, it took me 2 whole ass year to finally recover from it and not care about the attention, whatever, I draw what I want and practice more styles to improve my portfolio because guess what, if you want to be a professional artists, you don't have to be a big popular artist, if your art is good and meet their standards they will hire you.
real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The thing I love about your content is, first you fucking say what is need to be said, second you do it with good amount of humour. Like you're spitting facts then making me laugh 5 seconds later. p.s Imma just recommend omori since the art is peak. (:
im glad you like my content!!!!
I really want to make a career out of drawing, but the thing is that I'm so burned out of social media (despite posting around 2-3 weeks) that I'm considering quitting posting. And yeah, also because of nobody seeing my art it just makes me feel like a ghost
that is actually sad state of how social media is for artists, sorry to hear your going tru that
Yes appeal is a HUGE part of becoming popular on social media, and it's not just having good art and many people don't get this. "Appeal" comes in many ways, usually you just need to be midlevel skill at best and don't need to be super pro for it. And a lot of "appeal" on social media revolves around following trends but also somehow managing to keep your individuality/spark in your artwork.
1. It's less about "detail", detailed art only worked back in the old deviantART days or in sites like ArtStation or Pixiv. Your composition has to be striking enough for scrollers to stop by, that's what people see first. Interesting colours, good use of focal points.
2. Unique concept/ideas.
3. Your art having a cool narrative/storyline behind it, making good use of emotional storytelling. Both #2 and #3 would invoke an emotional response from the viewer which would increase engagement.
4. Clean presentation, especially for traditional art and video-making (something I still have to learn aha). But also a lot of people who make decent digital art don't add the final touches that really make the piece more cohesive (colour editing etc) and these things don't require huge skill but make a huge difference.
5. This one needs people to be fast which sucks but following certain timed trends, like the Miku thing for example.
6. Fanart, but I'm sure most people know that one. And memes/relatable content.
7. CONSISTENCY. You need A LOT of milage to get somewhere when you start, very hard to balance if you have responsibilities but you need 4-7 drawings monthly at least.
8. Providing something of value like tips and tutorials + engaging conversations with your followers about other important topics.
And you know, most of these are hard! The problem is either you'll burn out from the sheer level of consistency required (especially if you already have studies/job/chronically ill), and most artists are more reserved so its hard to "perform" in the way social media requires now (like seriously needing to "show your face" etc.. and again the relatable content thing). I *know* what's required to become popular, but my issue is that I *can't* do all of it, and the biggest challenge is finding a balance between me and social media and not compromising my vision but still finding what works. Sorry for writing an essay got carried away XD anyway it do be hard.
so fucking real
I like ur humor man, ur very grounded and that video was sick!!
thank you!!!!!
Used to be anxious about not getting attention or likes, but now I just post what I want whether it's trending or not, and it really takes the heavy pressure off! That and learning to not rely on external validation.
Got some art ideas here and there, the only things that are stopping me from posting are a lack of motivation and focus... and a lack of coffee or tea.
Im happy you got out of that slump
@@MrSaltyWasTaken Thank you! And I'm very grateful that you made this vid! ✨💖 Thank you for the Goku speech as well!
YAY NEW POST!! Imma watch this while eating some pizza n animating :D
YEEEEEEEY!!!!
DAYUM you improved like crazy over one damn year
Big props to you my guy
And geez the point on your video sits with me a lot, thanks for making me realize this
Ty very much, i hope this can help a lot of artists how toxic social media mentality is
Thank you so much for this video, I really needed to hear this❤
And that goku speech truly changed my life
goku allways has your back!!!
Who are you!? Who are you that suddenly pop in my feed and having mildy rage bait title but resonate with me very much!!!?
You says everything im so frustrated right now about art.
You're like me. Not literally but acceptance in art in social media. No like? Cause your art is shite! I feels like I have multiple dunning Kruger effect. Im so confident about my art then boom, it's shite. Now im very confident about my anatomy then boom, it's shite. And lastly about my perspective then, you guess it, it's shite.
So..... Im gonna subs to you now and see your journey of how long you will resonate with me.
let us both grow and let our art bloom into beautiful flower field
10:08 For i push my art to limit post speedpaint only for yt algorithm make me flop 💀 to point it create new mindset. my mindset is dont seek like. Nobody cares if your artstyle ain't fit their standards
I draw for myself, not others, I don't need popularity, I need to visualize what I write, that's the only motivation I have and need, and slowly but surely I am getting better.
YOU CAN DO ITTT!!!!
I love the background art

Satisfactory.

Your first mistake is expecting validation to begin with.
TRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUE
Serbian accent + helling never fails to terrify me or make me laugh 😂😂
Hahaha thankssss
Yeah wait-- actually you do have a point. People will like your art more if it appeals them, sometimes grinding and improving is a good thing. For OC's, you needed to be appealing enough to attract a lot of audiences (plus the art, and the character design)
And other things than that, you need to draw the characters well and improve about it. I'm studying art designing since I realized some of my art needed some adjustments.
For cartoon style; they needed to follow simple rules like round shapes for softer or kind/cheery characters, sharp edges and triangles for evil/intimidating characters. Or both if they're both those things.
And there's also some appeal to audiences like if your specific audiences are people who like cute things, you need to draw cute if that makes sense. Or dark and edgy stuff, that's where other audiences came in.
Exactlly!!!
@@MrSaltyWasTaken Yeah. Some artists succeeded though but for 2 things one of them doesn't follow these things but they actually are appealing enough for it (Aka some of hobbyists), and others went to art school for it that they got popular because of how good their art is by following some rules.
hyper based video, with actuly a lot of good takes well done sir.
im happy you feel that way!!!
Not surprising becsuse this year... alot of artists got into alot of drama recently.
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea

I FUCKING LOVE YELLING
I LOVE ITTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!
0:55 Bro why is this so accurate😭💀
I watched a lot of sr pelo when i was little
what gets me is when popular artists complain online about their sketches getting more attention than their finished work, mind you both their finished work and sketches are like +1k sooo... idk man you've got your audience why are you worry so much about that
idk cuz that happens all the time even when your not as popular but still if i get like 1k per post amma be happy
I love this videooo 🤣🤣🤣 i will send this to that one person who needs reality check (me.)
dont forget to tell them they are really good artists and youtuber too!!!!
