So i could set low priority for downloads so network stays usable for other tasks while download is running? does it always properly detect type of task running? thats sounds like something useful if it works that way

The XFinity modem/routers suck. Tell them to put it in bridge mode for you and connect your own wireless router. In the meantime use a cabled connection.

If you really want to get granular some routers may allow that. Typically you choose a certain activity for specific machines.
