Hi MDB! I thought I might let you know how the interactions at the Thalmor party work. There is actually a way (or several) that you can use to cause a distraction without the wine. However, most of them require you to have done side quests. One that I know of doesn't. If you wait around Erikur long enough, he will try to flirt with a servant girl and fail. Talk to him and do as he asks, and there will be a distraction with no item needed. It might take a moment though. I thought you'd be interested in this or others might like to know about it if they take the challenge on themselves. I'm a huge Skyrim fan and have been playing it for years, so I know a bunch about the game others might have missed. Hope this helps!

Oh, and fun fact: apparently the thugs show up if you get caught stealing after the fact. Any character is able to send them after you even Parturnaax, dead bodies, and ghosts.
Funny story about hired thugs. Recently I started playing a "race-lock" (a self-imposed challenge where I can only take perks in skill trees that a given race starts with bonuses in, and the only power that can be used is the racial power, aside from when Shouts are required by plot) of Skyrim as an Argonian (since Argonian is the only race that doesn't start with bonuses in any crafting skill, I thought it'd be the most difficult). I decided on grinding my pickpocket skill to 40 for the poisoned perk, and did so by training my pickpocket with Silda the Unseen, then pick-pocketing the money back. Once I was done, I rested at Windhelm's inn for the night, and on my way out of the city the next morning, hired thugs showed up and fought me right outside Windhelm's gate. I barely managed to take them all down, and when I looted the corpses, I saw that Silda the Unseen was their client. That homeless, penniless lady I just finished my training with by stealing all of her gold could somehow make the money to afford hiring three thugs, and then hire those thugs, in the few hours I took to sleep. My only thought was that Silda picked some pockets to make all of that gold in so little time. But not mine, for some reason.

Skyrim challenge idea: Can you beat Skyrim but everyone is spiders? Just get a mod that changes every model into spiders. There's a mod that makes the courier a spider so you just have this dog-sized rapidly approaching spider and then it goes "I have something to deliver you!"
I'm pretty sure that other people have already told you, but their is other ways to cause a distraction in the embassy. I forgot all the ways to do it, but my favorite way is to have the rich nord to harass the Barmaid
These are great! I actually can't wait for more skyrim stuff! I'd also love to see you take on Dragonborn once instead of the main quest, since you have the DLC, and it would lead to a slightly different gameplay! Maybe a shouts+Unarmed only run?
Fun fact: Killcam executions do not calculate armor. Only base damage of hit and hp of target. Doesn't matter if you have Daedric Armor or your skivvies if the game wants to kill cam you it will kill cam you
I've gotta say the pokemon challenges and the elder scrolls challenges have become my most anticipated videos on UA-cam probably due to being my favourite games that I've grown up with. Thanks for making such entertaining content.👍
If you want a truly difficult challenge, beat Skyrim with the following restrictions: -level 1 -the only offensive techniques you can use are shouts -no looting dead bodies or chests (excluding quest items) -any money gained from selling must be spent in the same town/village you're in -if you discover a place, you must explore it - legendary difficulty only - no running from fights - no followers
at the thalmor party erikur can actually cause a scene with the waitress. So you could have gotten throu this section without the nonstolen wine EDIT: The big question is thou, can you beat skyrim on legendary difficulty
Not gonna lie, these challenge runs are the only thing i watch on your channel, but i love the dedication. Honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if you could still do pretty well off of a one video per week format with just these challenge runs. At least for a while.
@Mah-Dry-Bread there are other ways to get through the party without the wine but it would require you to become a thane i one of the holds other than whiterun or finish the thieves guild questline
Easy, go to riften at level 1, get the chillrend, get pickpocket up to 70, steal the blade of woe from astrid, level up dual wielding, you’re set for the rest of the game.
Yes I have done it before. You need to know that you need some items before starting but I think most quest items for the main story don't count as stealing.
Enemies that are on fire take extra damage from the rest of your attacks. This makes having flames in one hand and a weapon in the other a much more powerful option to clear enemies
I'm pretty sure you can give the guy any old wine as long as you've got the specific wine in your inventory, so you could've just given him stolen wine as long as you'd stolen it before going there
Plot Twist: He is going to just play normally the game because the items are stolen anyway, forged by exploiting the proletariat's hard work. Communism 101.
I don’t know what to put in the comment, it’s really not original to just “suggest a challenge” and plus I can’t actually suggest a good one. So, I pondered for a bit, wondering what comment to post. I thought time and time, again and again, pondering at such a predicament. Eventually I decided on one simple idea that isn’t rare, but instead really common. Not so common that it’s basic, but so common that it’s funny and most people love. This comment will be.... “Comments are good for the UA-cam algorithm”
Been binging these. At first I was iffy on watching cause idk plot and I figured I might want to try the games myself and not get spoiled(especially Fall Out since I think that looks super cool) but Im getting more and more into it. It’s really easy to get sucked into these challenges when you have a good script, pacing, and “is all around a good guy” (hope you get that reference). @@TheAero16 Yeah, I think he should do a poll whether the majority prefers to have challenges once every week with possibly poorer quality (his first elder scrolls challenge video is still my favorite of all his videos tbh) or only one video once every two weeks where he invests himself more in the challenge and the game overall Although I also don't know how much of his income comes from challenges so that may also be a reason why he sticks with the current schedule
Also at the embassy party. There are several ways to cause a distraction. Giving the guy the alcohol is just the most obvious one. I can’t remember them though.
there's that one where you can get the guy in the middle of the room to get into an argument with the high elf woman in the corner playing an instrument
Yeah, I'm glad someone else brought this up. Giving the dude alcohol is the easiest, and has no prerequisites, but if you've done other stuff beforehand, (quests for the partygoers, before you went to the party), you can have them cause a distraction. My memory isn't 100% perfect, but there's Maven Black-Briar, who's quests you can do in Riften, if you are part of the Thieves Guild, and a Noble from Solitude, who has a quest or two, can't remember him all too well.
Week 23 of asking for a Poochyena Emerald run I'm surprised that he hasn't done it yet. Its worse than all of the Pokemon he's used in his doubles runs in Emerald, but what can I do except leave a comment from the UA-cam algorithm.
YT algorithm! But yeah, when I started leveling pickpocket I noticed a considerable difference in item quality vs just looting corpses. Figured this run would be scarce of decent equipment but that was downright abysmal. Congrats on beating the run!
I hope you didn't experience some of the annoying pickpocketing bugs. I had loads of issues with gear that was supposed to boost performance lowering it drastically instead for example.
But the alternative to the peace treaty is completing the Civil War quest line in its entirety before reaching that point, which would take even longer.
There's no weapons at that point in the game you could steal, so outside of just running away and waiting for your friend to do all the fighting for you it's impossible. Your friend can also wind up going down in the fight repeatedly too on harder difficulties which leaves you having to kite the enemies while keeping them distracted enough for them to recover. While possible it's not fun or interesting. Whenever I do challenge runs myself I just assume everything in the first tutorial dungeon doesn't count, while very little is impossible in the first dungeon it's just not entertaining because of the lack of options.
Skyrim or oblivion idea: Only using pickpocketed items. In Skyrim pickpocket is such a neglected tree but in both games it can be used to great effect with stealing equipped stuff and reverse pickpocketing poisons.
Hey MDB! I just wanted to comment that during the party, you don't have to use the wine. I don't remember the exact sequence of events, but if you talk to Erikur and the Elven bard lady you can get a different distraction for the party. Loving the Elder Scrolls challenges, keep it up!
Even though followers always equip the highest base damage/armor rating items in their inventory, it's not always a good idea to give them those. Luckily Lydia is a warrior class so she gets skill in both one-handed and two-handed as she levels up, but it's usually a good rule of thumb to give followers the same type of equipment they start with, unless you want to look up their class.
If you get tired of the war council sessions you could always pick a side for the war (iirc) and complete those quests tho that probably takes longer than 16 minutes of dialogue but may spice up things for your later runs so you dont have to always do similar things
I first found you through pokemon, but these elder scroll challenges you've been doing are really fun and I think I like them more than the pokemon challenges, especially since you seem to enjoy them too.
There are other ways to cause a distraction in the Embassy, those need you to do something for the individual - including Idgrod Ravencrone, the Morthal Jarl. Enjoyed rewatching this video.

@@ZorotheGallade Money is also an item, and technology NOT stolen if you killed targets and picked them out of their pockets.
Also pre sure you can pickpocket guy saving you to take his weapon.. that could have beeb a thing?
The hired thugs came after you because of the stolen items.
Skyrim challenge idea: Can you beat Skyrim but everyone is spiders?
Just get a mod that changes every model into spiders. There's a mod that makes the courier a spider so you just have this dog-sized rapidly approaching spider and then it goes "I have something to deliver you!"
"No gameplay mods"
-Gets attacked by invader bear
What are you talking about? Spider bears are part of the Skyrim fauna, obviously!
I thought that too, but I guess it's just cosmetic for arachnophobes
I love the Elder scrolls challenges! I'm pumped for this one.
Oblivion as a high elf with the apprentice birthsign and no armour challenge would be pretty difficult
Custom spells would make that super powerful though. You'd be able to 1-2 punch virtually everything and still have room for buff spells.
Awww, you missed out on the “free” elven bow in the Companions! 😂
I'm pretty sure that other people have already told you, but their is other ways to cause a distraction in the embassy. I forgot all the ways to do it, but my favorite way is to have the rich nord to harass the Barmaid
Skyrim as only a vampire lord, overpowered but a lot of drawbacks
G00SEit did this a couple of months ago
These are great! I actually can't wait for more skyrim stuff! I'd also love to see you take on Dragonborn once instead of the main quest, since you have the DLC, and it would lead to a slightly different gameplay! Maybe a shouts+Unarmed only run?
6:29 Fun fact about this staff: it has charming in the name but uses the fury spell
Which if I recall correctly I why that dude was dead. Tried to use a fury staff to calm whatever killed him.
Fun fact: Killcam executions do not calculate armor. Only base damage of hit and hp of target. Doesn't matter if you have Daedric Armor or your skivvies if the game wants to kill cam you it will kill cam you
Literally nothing:
My brain at 4 in the morning: “Watch MDB”
In the thalmor embassy, you can get Erikur to threaten the drink girl via talking a few times.
God, the amount of ways to get through that party if he only knew...lmao
I've gotta say the pokemon challenges and the elder scrolls challenges have become my most anticipated videos on UA-cam probably due to being my favourite games that I've grown up with. Thanks for making such entertaining content.👍
I see you decided it was okay to put "stolen" in the title. Lol
i expected for him to call it borrowed with large quotation marks
Jarl Ballin (or balgruuf if you're a weenie) can set up a distraction so you don't need the wine bottle
Skyrim Challenge: Only with scrolls/staves
I like it
So, fun fact, my first play through I stole an elven Warhammer, and played through almost the entire game with it
“Can I beat Skyrim with only starting equipment and shouts?”
Your challenge videos have over the past year become some of my favorite content on UA-cam. Keep it up! :D
You stole my heart and left it in the UA-cam Algorithm
Playing without the Unofficial Patch sounds like a challenge run of its own. Couldn't be me.
You know me just commenting after all
It’s good for the UA-cam algorithim
If you want a truly difficult challenge, beat Skyrim with the following restrictions:
-level 1
-the only offensive techniques you can use are shouts
-no looting dead bodies or chests (excluding quest items)
-any money gained from selling must be spent in the same town/village you're in
-if you discover a place, you must explore it
- legendary difficulty only
- no running from fights
- no followers
Huh, surprised you didn't take the elven bow from the companions. And I think there is some dwarven weapons in there too
There's several ways to get through the Thalmor Embassy. It's not just the wine distraction.
However the other ways do require some setting up.
at the thalmor party erikur can actually cause a scene with the waitress. So you could have gotten throu this section without the nonstolen wine
EDIT: The big question is thou, can you beat skyrim on legendary difficulty
Not gonna lie, these challenge runs are the only thing i watch on your channel, but i love the dedication. Honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if you could still do pretty well off of a one video per week format with just these challenge runs. At least for a while.
Question. Did you escape the master's vigilance? For the UA-cam algorithm.
MDB you would HAAAAAATE the spiders in Hunt: Showdown and now I need to see you react to seeing the spider in Hunt: Showdown
0/10 should’ve been called stealing my way to the end of Skyrim
I love how happy these challenges make you
What about 'can I beat the thieves guild questline without stealing'?
Yes I have done it before. You need to know that you need some items before starting but I think most quest items for the main story don't count as stealing.
I'm really glad that you explain why you are making those changes. Makes us feel heard
Wouldn't selling items count as using them? So if you sold non-stolen stuff, then you failed the challenge.
Enemies that are on fire take extra damage from the rest of your attacks. This makes having flames in one hand and a weapon in the other a much more powerful option to clear enemies
Now defeat the Ebony Warrior using only stolen items
I'm pretty sure you can give the guy any old wine as long as you've got the specific wine in your inventory, so you could've just given him stolen wine as long as you'd stolen it before going there
Plot Twist: He is going to just play normally the game because the items are stolen anyway, forged by exploiting the proletariat's hard work. Communism 101.
What a leap in logic
you ain't gotta invent shit - there are literal slaves powering most of the economy ;p
A really solid weapon you can steal pretty early on is the elven sword locked under one of the display cases in dragonreach
can you try to beat any elder scrolls game without usage of money
I love watching you and Goose play skyrim. I like to see where I would do things differently
Using the flame spell was not a good idea, dosent really make the challenge ligit, imo.
According to the wiki there are multiple ways to cause a distraction at the party, but you have to meet certain requirements for them to be available.
Perfection
So profound
Been binging these. At first I was iffy on watching cause idk plot and I figured I might want to try the games myself and not get spoiled(especially Fall Out since I think that looks super cool) but Im getting more and more into it. It’s really easy to get sucked into these challenges when you have a good script, pacing, and “is all around a good guy” (hope you get that reference). Love your vids and happy 10 year anniversary man!!
It would be good to know what difficulty you are playing at.
Looks like the standard difficulty (think it was called adept?) to me, definitely not above
@@Skymin1 mm you might be right tho adept is still quite easy😅
@@TheAero16 I agree, although i can see why he’d maybe not want to play on a higher difficulty considering he also has other projects running that he’s uploading daily and has a schedule for his challenge runs, but expert difficulty could be a good compromise
I’m more bothered by the fact that he used the flame spell so much this run tbh, kinda destroyed the whole purpose of it
@@Skymin1 yeah but that's the thing why do a challenge per week if it's done poorly and yeah flames was not stolen
@@TheAero16 Yeah, I think he should do a poll whether the majority prefers to have challenges once every week with possibly poorer quality (his first elder scrolls challenge video is still my favorite of all his videos tbh) or only one video once every two weeks where he invests himself more in the challenge and the game overall
Although I also don't know how much of his income comes from challenges so that may also be a reason why he sticks with the current schedule
Week 23 of asking for a Poochyena Emerald run
I'm surprised that he hasn't done it yet. Its worse than all of the Pokemon he's used in his doubles runs in Emerald, but what can I do except leave a comment from the UA-cam algorithm.
Excited for the Goldeen challenge! Everytime goldeen comes up I cant help but agree with the horn attack vs peck against ghost types weirdness
Idea for a run: Can you beat Pokemon Red without taking the Helix Fossil?
YT algorithm!
But yeah, when I started leveling pickpocket I noticed a considerable difference in item quality vs just looting corpses. Figured this run would be scarce of decent equipment but that was downright abysmal. Congrats on beating the run!
I hope you didn't experience some of the annoying pickpocketing bugs. I had loads of issues with gear that was supposed to boost performance lowering it drastically instead for example.
Do the dark brotherhood questline without directly killing somebody - only by putting poison in their pockets, using traps, use summons etc.
Sounds fun might try this.
@@ignisshadowflame1027 Great :-D Have fun! You could call it "pacifistic brotherhood" or something like that xD
Pokemon challenges that you should try Pokemon emerald with only ralts Pokemon gold with only slugma Pokemon fire red with only oddish
Great video! It’s good you’re having fun! The peace treaty isn’t actually needed, I’ve beat the game 6+ times and I haven’t used it once.
But the alternative to the peace treaty is completing the Civil War quest line in its entirety before reaching that point, which would take even longer.
Feel like you kinda cheated with the fire spell...
@@scragar I dont have a problem with him using it at the start, but after he escapes Helgen, he should have not used it anymore
Skyrim or oblivion idea: Only using pickpocketed items.
In Skyrim pickpocket is such a neglected tree but in both games it can be used to great effect with stealing equipped stuff and reverse pickpocketing poisons.
Next skyrim challenge: only fists, no magic, no shields, just good old fists
Also you can avoid the wine in the party by having helped some of the other guests before starting this section.
i think the spider mod is less for us and more for you buddy lol
50-50
I’m glad your doing some other types of games now. Pokémon is great but I’m excited to see other games played with crazy stipulations
If you get tired of the war council sessions you could always pick a side for the war (iirc) and complete those quests tho that probably takes longer than 16 minutes of dialogue but may spice up things for your later runs so you dont have to always do similar things
I first found you through pokemon, but these elder scroll challenges you've been doing are really fun and I think I like them more than the pokemon challenges, especially since you seem to enjoy them too.
god these videos are so good i hate when they end thanks for the hard work
Fun fact!
In the Companions living quarters, there's an eleven warhammer and bow you can steal. They're in locked display cases iirc.
I Never played stuff like oblivion or Skyrim but I love your videos and now I want to play it too
There are other ways to cause a distraction in the Embassy, those need you to do something for the individual - including Idgrod Ravencrone, the Morthal Jarl. Enjoyed rewatching this video.
I don’t remember fighting a bear in bleakfalls 🧐
Tfw when you worked all Saturday and panic when you see MDB upload thinking it’s not Saturday what’s going on.
It is Saturday huh.
