I’m 12 minutes into the video and already so glad I clicked on it. I just started to offer website development this year and before I even had a business name picked out I got my first client. I am completely self taught with no formal background in website development and felt major imposter syndrome. I especially felt weird using platforms like Wix and my current client is using Squarespace because I’d tell myself “real” developers would use something like Wordpress. This video is so validating. She brought up a really good point, using something like Squarespace makes the handoff process much easier if the client chooses to maintain the website themselves. Loving the interview so far! ❤
YAY Sarah, landing a first client before you even picked the business name out! Love that! Yeah as you can tell from that experience there's still a TON of people needing the service. And not to fret on the being self-taught, I'm the same! You're in good company. 😊❤
There was a lot of helpful stuff in this video. The title says that she charges $5000 per project but at 16:50 she says she has a service that is 50% cheaper than the fully custom $5000 site, and she says her customers all choose the 50% off one. Did I hear this wrong? So is she making $2500 a website starting with templates?
Yea she is making $2,500 per project using templates. She also has an offer of $5,000 which are fully custom. She also stated that she has gradually increased her prices because she has gained more experience. So the title is correct she now charges 5,000 for fully custom websites.
