In other words buy a silver 1987 Toyota Celica.
Funny enough. I canceled a order on a new Subaru because I couldn’t permanently disable this feature. Found this video later. It really reinforces my concern.
Absolutely annoying feature
You don’t have to be a GENIUS or a MECHANIC to know that this is a bad idea.
I remember when I first learned about some cars having this auto stop/start, I immediately thought of how much wear that would put on the starter. Pretty sure replacing a starter will cost more than whatever you save on gas.
People walking by when Scotty records, proof Scotty is from this realm
It is about time someone said what a bad idea this is.
I swear “why not to buy a car” will come up soon
Useless technology. More expensive.
It’s just another rip off... how far will they push this insanity
I love how they put a button to stop it. But it goes back on by default. They should allow you to decide if you want it on all the time or not.
Car companies hate Scotty Kilmer! But we love his knowledge!
Gas savings is quickly eaten up by increased cost of fixing starter and battery.
It’s about time someone said STOP to the STOP START feature. I have it & disabled it immediately. Thanks Scotty!
Sitting next to them at red lights, I always wonder how many starters they go through. Good advice as usual from Scotty.
This almost killed me it shut off when I was trying to pull out into busy traffic. All it takes is a split second and ur dead. I will never forget that night. This is definitely one of the worst things ever done to cars.
My 93 cutlas had that feature. It would turn off at a red light and turn on when i cranked it for 10 min...
I always wondered about the start stop feature. Especially at night in the winter. Sitting in traffic with the heat, radio, lights and the kids in the back watching Frozen. The battery is definitely going to take some abuse there. And I feel these cars contribute to the traffic light congestion by increasing the time it takes for the line to start moving.
I've always said that start/stop technology is like sitting down everytime you have to stop.. all that effort to stand back up again is extra hard work and energy you don't need to use...
