I had goosebumps at the intro holy shit man your playing is unreal
agreed
So far, all my favourite clips of the 40 and 140 have been yours. Until recently, I didn't care about cleans, and then one day payed attention to fender cleans and realised the duchess is my jam as most of my distortion and dirt comes from pedals into a beautifully clean amp. Cheers for the phenomenal playing and examples of these amps.
Chris, what a joy you are. All I can say is thank you.
Yes... me too, I picked up a V40 last summer, I'm really happy with this amp.
Get on the... ahhhhh! Bisto!
Gorgeous amp, I’ve been coveting the little one for some time, but the deluxe is just pure class!
Looking forward to that tour, Chris! Much love.
Slow train is amazing! And you're the most inspiring "new" guitarist I've heard in a long time. Keep on rockin'. Hope to see you in Norway!
Sublime outro, Chris, thank you
The intro track on this is one of the reasons you are my favorite UA-cam guitarist.
Beautiful playing as always Chris, and sound great through the amp. Sad you won't be in Italy again this year but I guess you've got other things to do 😉. And congrats on 20k subscribers too. 👍🤘🎸👍🤘🎸👍🤘🎸👍🤘🎸
I've been watching your channel for a while now... one thing I've taken from it there's nothing wrong with affordable gear... but its nice to have nice things....
And playing is most important
OH MY GOD!!! that intro... bloody hell chris!
Sounds fantastic Chris. Great playing as always! I’ve just bought a v40 and a Hamstead artist 60rt. I had a stress out about the v40 and nearly took it back to swap for the v40 deluxe. But I sat with it and it’s staying. A really fantastic sounding amp. Plus I got the v40 for the portability in the first place. The Hamstead is a stunning amp also. Some great amps being built in the uk at the minute.
I just bought this amp because of this video. You're up there with Mayer and Asato, my friend! Beautiful playing!
Your playing is always just sublime and this amp just brings that out even more. Congrats on the new amp!
Awesome playing man! Oh and you have a new subscriber ;) Love the intro
That sounds mint Chris, as much as I love the old fenders that victory looks as wonderful as it sounds, stunning. Congrats on the subs mate, its gonna keep climbing for sure and you deserve it. 🎸👍
It is beautiful when Chris pluck with his right hand
Such warm and smooth tone. Love it!!
geez, that touch
Yeeeeaaaah- big shout out to Ian and guitar breaks. I'll be catching up with him next week in Guildford.
Beautiful
thank u man!!!! love your work!
Seriously, more people should know about this channel. Quality content! 🙌🏼
I can recognize your playing from the movement of your hands, I was listening though headphones and had to step a away...when I came back your vid was playing and I knew it was you with the headphones laying on my desk.
Chris, i have a tip for you for helping with sciatica pain, sit on the sofa with your knees up in front of you and grab your legs around the front of your knees and pull them towards your chest, it stretches your lower back and relieves tension around where the nerves tend to pinch.
The V40D is crazy good... It's by far my favourite amp at the moment! Shoutout to Ian from Guitar Breaks, he does an amazing job organizing those! Also the 1x12 does definitely sound different. I checked out both side by side and the 1x12 is certainly snappier and quite a bit clearer which makes the cleans even better :)
Lovely lovely lovely. Nailed it Chris.
Repeating that intro over and over again. Amazing tone. Awesome. I did like the recorded version, but the driven sound in this is just something else.
Outstanding Chris
Ohhh man, amazing playing, amazing sound. Its so tasteful and present
Super classy playing mate.
I’ve been a Matchless owner for a while. I’m getting one of these this week. Thanks for the inspiration
Really beautiful playing and tone. ☺
This is my next amp. Thanks for the tasty demos
I saw this in your backline at the Cozy tribute. It played well against the Marshalls Jim was using and didn't lose anything. 'Tis a very classy sound
The outro was magic! Well done
Man the intro is stunning!
Got to the point where I hear the word Revstar and instantly twitch!
Great sound buddy... and again, congrats on the 20k
Hi Chris, I have a chance to get either Black Box 2 Overdrive or used KOT. Which one would you recommend for bluesy/Mayer-ish tone? Or I shloud ask which one do you prefer more/find yourself playing more? Big thanks!!!
Love your tone, and man, the way you play is amazing!
This bloke could make a broom
Sound amazing. Nice touch
Fantastic playing as always Chris. I got the V40D (combo) a few months ago and I've been looking to get my first overdrive pedals. What would you suggest? You've played a lot of different pedals and guitars so I trust you. Can't wait to hear more of this wonderful amp.
nickardasis obviously I don’t have the skill or experience of Chris but I run a Cali 76 Deluxe with the dry at 3 o clock (so mostly dry signal) into the boost section of a Thorpy Dane into a V40D and it’s the sound I always dreamed of. Somewhere between John Mayer and Chris Buck. Rich and velvety (sadly I can’t play like either of them).
Damnit. I want a cali76 soooo bad and everyone keeps saying how amazing it is but I don't know if I can justify the price. I've never used a compressor before but I know I love the tone (I'm after those J. Mayer tones too). The Dane seems a really good choice as well. Thorpy makes great pedals. Thanks for the answer mate.
An Xotic SP will get you close but I hated the noise issues with it. The Cali is everything and more. It makes everything sound twice as expensive. Get the deluxe with the dry knob as that is how you get the fatness without too much squash. Good luck. I understand the struggles!
Love the V40D, run mine stereo with a Blackstar Artist which just sounds lovely. Awesome video as always.
Hang on, I've got one of those and 15 minutes ago I thought it was brilliant but after listening to you play that intro I think mine is broken. There's a slim chance it's because I'm a bit shit though.
Have a v40d. Amazing amp. At some point I would love to get a two rock. That being said I am not looking at anything worse than that, because the Victory has it covered. Imho the only thing that it's missing is a bigger reverb. It's a great always on unit, but it won't give you huge reverbs. It might be better this way I don't know
If you want bigger reverb buy a reverb pedal
Hi,
I also have a V40 Deluxe. Great amp. What settings are the best for blues like John Mayer. Greetz Vincent from Holland
You found Mayer settings on the V40 deluxe? I wanna know too!!!!
Nice one I tried out the V40 along side the deluxe & ended up with the former. Both excellent anyhow 👍
Kickass intro, Chris!
Also love victory amps, man. And that one is my favorite of the roster.
Cheers
Looks like the Victory has been replaced by vintage Fenders. It turns out the amp didn’t really matter and it was Chris’ playing skill that made him sound great all along.
I bet you just can’t listen to that intro just once. Is there a backing track available Mr Guru?
Damn, that's hot. Looking forward to next weeks news too, cheers Chris. :)
just getting better and better...
Sooo good! When’s that new music coming? It hasn’t fallen through or anything?
Not at all. Big news next week 😉
Sounds stunning buddy. Killer fair play 👍✌️👊
congrats on 20k man :D you deserve 1mil+ subs with all the amazing feel and tone you have
Victor amps are quite hard to test over in Sweden/Denmark. The V40 and the one you play is it like a deluxe reverb with more headroom?
This is my dream amp
You had me at the purple LED...😎
Whatever guitar or equipment you use Chris, your playing and tone is always awesome. Great channel, great vids. Inspiring 👍👍
Chris did you try out the Richie Kotzen model? And if so, what are the main differences between the V40 and Richie’s?
I'm seriously jealous. Been wanting one since they came out.
I got my strat pickups down flush like that too. I hate hitting the magnets with my hand.
So... how well does your Victory V40 Deluxe take fuzz pedals if I may be so bold to ask? Been mainly using a Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb myself for some years and been looking for a decent fuzz to go with it, but it doesn't take fuzz pedals well... been eyeballing that V40D for a little while now...
Hey man. Very well in my experience. Fuzz pedals can be a bit hit or miss with Fender style amps in my experience, but if you’re looking for a fuzz face style circuit, check out some that have a bit more low end and/or mid range. That’ll stop it getting too fizzy. Either that or stack it with a mid-ranged-voiced overdrive like a Tubescreamer or Bluesbreaker style circuit. That’ll fatten things up 🙂
Buck And Evans Yeah... sadly my experience as well. Not a huge consumer of Fuzz though so amp type takes precedence... Thanks for the tip though :)
Would the King of Tone do the job? That is sort of a BluesBreaker type if I’ve understood it correctly. My time on the waiting list is soon at its end hopefully. Time to confirm or debunk the hype :)
DAMMIT CHRIS! I just decided on a new amp and now I gotta rethink my decision! 😜
tick the box on ticking boxes...
Fantastic outro. Such a great feel. Love the guitar. What make / model is it?
Yamaha Revstar
The train may be slow, but it's full of soul!!!! 😁
christopher suggs good trains go slow. That gives us time to feel and experience, so its about the journey not the destination 😎😎
From 🇧🇷 ! very good .
Please tab out that intro. It’s smoking!!!
Which voice do you prefer Chris, also do you use the mid kick?
Sounds amazing, you have great touch!
Chris - any chance you could do a lesson video for Slow Train? Been dying to see how you play it - particularly the echorec thing.
Hey chris did you add some reverb or is it Just the amp reverb with a little Delay 👏👌💪
whoaaaaa sounds like derek trucks late 90s/early 00s sound. what a great player and amps maaaaannn!!!⚡⚡⚡⚡
Ye man anything from Martin Kidd is worth every penny as far as I'm concerned. He's a great builder and a nice guy too. I got a Kraken as soon as they came out but wondered why they hadn't brought out a version of his old flagship, the Cornford MK50ii??? Then the Super Kraken turns up.......\m/QQ\m/ 20K subscribers!!!! F**k, it was 8 the other day???? :-D
Bloody Hell, Chris! This intro jam is brilliant. Is this actually going to be part of a B&E song? Also, come and play Porthcawl Pavillion! I'll even buy you a pint.
It already is, it is called "Slow Train". Check it out!
@@valentinhuber8875 awesome. Cheers mate.
Is the amp hardwired or PC based at the price I am thinking the former
The tremolo on that thing sounds ridiculous!
Sorry, what’s your new amp ? Thanks
what kind of speaker in the zilla cab??? and also what model from zilla ?
최원석 - I don’t know the spec for Chris’s cab, but I run my Deluxe V40 into a Zilla 1x12 Fatboy (currently with a closed back, though the three-piece option would let me use it open if I wanted to), loaded with a Celestion G12H-75 Creamback. Fantastic tone! For my money, Zilla make some of the best cabs on the planet!
최원석 - Sorry! “Fatboy” is the 2x12. The 1x12 is called the “FatBABY”!
@@stevebaskerville6752 Thanks for your response!
I also have the v 40 deluxe and have used a nobrand 1X12 cab with G12H-75 creamback.
I wasn't so satisfied with the sounds I got, but seems like the actual cabinet itself adds to the sound ..!
최원석 - Victory’s own V212-VC 2x12 - a vertical open-back cab with Celestion G12M-65 Creamback speakers - is their chosen pairing for the V40 Deluxe, and always sounds great in online demos. But, once again, well-built, solid pine construction with good internal baffles, probably makes all the difference. I don’t play very high gain stuff (you’re not going to djent with a V40D anyway), so didn’t want the (to my ears) harsher Vintage 30 sound, but find the G12H-75 has just a bit more edge for blues/classic rock than the G12M-65. That said, the best speaker-choice in the world is still going to sound crap in a crap cab!
man, you can play!
Hi Chris How about a demo of the amp on its reduced power mode as with some amps this affects the tone
Still prefer your tone with the Blackstar man..
Damn I wish this amp wasn't $2K. It sounds incredible!
@@colaboytje Yes unfortunately... What does €1400 equate to in dollars?
@@colaboytje Damn, that's a pretty significant difference...
Would be betterto buy from UK vendor?, like andertns?
Boogie Cali Tweed or this?
So what or where is the Evans part of Buck and Evans?
Andrew Bettis. His band partner Sally Ann Evans. If you haven’t listened to their album Write a Better Day then I’d highly recommend it. Sally Ann has an incredible voice that perfectly sets off his playing. Think the better bits of the stereophonics with a female lead, better guitars and more blues influences but similar power and emotion.
Chris JS Cheers Chris, that’s very kind of you ☺️ We’ll be releasing the first single Slow Train next week with details of a release date of the album to follow very soon, for those who haven’t been able to get a copy yet 🙂
Aha. Didn’t realise it wasn’t generally out yet. It has been on very regular rotation on my record player for a few months now. Awesome album. Some real shivers down the spine moments in it.
that intro a song you have released ?
I had a v40 and sold it as too dark. Does the deluxe have more presence/ treble on tap?
Haven't personally played it, but from watching hundreds of videos, I can def say, it has more presence. There's great comparison videos!
Equalizer !
Sounded great. Only thing I didn’t like was the fact that it took you 6 minutes before playing. Overall great video🤘 you sir have a new subscriber.
Thank you. And that was the amp you were listening to for the first minute and a half :)
Backing track?
Shit, Chris even taps his pedal in the song tempo.
nice. can I have your old amp?
just kidding, my overtone special is great
The amp like all victory stuff sound dark
😮😮😮👍
This vs Mesa tweed California please
Love it but Geez what happened to your knob 😁
👍🔥🎸🦅
Yeeeeaaaah- big shout out to Ian and guitar breaks. I'll be catching up with him next week in Guildford.
