This is the part I used in this video. www.jegs.com/i...
You can buy cheaper ones but you get what you pay for the extra few bucks is well worth it.
im having this problem on my old RV, thanks so much for this solution!
Glad to help
Just did this and heat soak problem gone. Best 25 bucks ever spent.
Great video Dale. Informative and to the point 👍
Thank you
I just installed one on my 67 Camaro, I was getting tired of being stranded at the gas pump, I was almost ready to get rid of my headers, wish me luck!
Two months later, has it solved your problem?
@@chirkware Yes sir! Haven’t had a problem since, the factory starter had the grease burned right out of it, I’ll be honest, my car is a beast and very fast, but headers have certainly not been a joy to have. I have to stand on my head just to change the plugs. They are just off the shelf Hooker Headers, it may be time for a upgrade, have a great day.
@@oxyfee6486having this exact issue brotha on my 2016 dodge charger, I have longtubes on it and the heat be eating up the negative terminal. So after reading this there’s hope!!
The only way to fix an exhaust too close to the starter and can not be moved away is just what you have done in this video.
If you have a GM with headers don't waste your money on this stuff you need a Ford remote mounted solenoid, if you were only getting a single click. There are many videos on UA-cam on how to wire this in.
Thanks for the video
I have a similar problem with my ford fiesta 1.6 starts normal when its cold but won't start when engine warms up .starter won't spin.
I think it fried my starter... Won't roll over easily even cold.. ;-(.. Thanks, great solution.
How is the wrap and repair holding up?
You know the truck has only got about a 100 miles since I did it. I did take it to the state patrol for inspection which is 40 miles away and it idled a long time in line and a 90 degree day. It had no problem of starting right up.
@@daleshotrodshop exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks for sharing!!
Did you have any issues wrapping the starter after it was installed
No, I did not but it had nothing in the way. It may be a little bit difficult on a Camaro or Chevelle.
I bough one of these and still suffered from Heat Soak
I understand my AMX has problems I cured most of it with a blanket and drilling four holes in the end plate of the starter. It still has it's moments but way better than it was 50 years ago with my first set of headers.
💃 P R O M O S M!!!
A better solution. Wire the starter direct. Use a Ford solenoid.
