I’m disappointed to see that my neighbors house is not on this list.
Ha ha ha

My dad spent the first 23 years of his life in toledo, and he told me he knew guys that worked at the Jeep factory and whenever they wanted a break, they would throw a tool into a machine have it break down and wait for the line to get repaired and would get back to work.
That would've been discovered by the repairmen.
@@dcasper8514 the workers likely went "slipped out of my hand."
Another reason to move is weather. I was born in Texas and lived most of my adult life there. Every summer got hotter and hotter. The only time I ventured away from AC was to walk the dog. It got to where depression would start in March when the AC had to turn on and last pretty much all year, although one could turn off the AC in early November. It had to come back on some days sporadically throughout the year. I escaped just because of the weather which worsened due to climate change. I escaped to a cooler, cleaner, greener place and still get excited and awestruck when it rains. It rains often where I am now. Even though the state made your list for some bad things that have not affected me.
P.S. The homeless continue to migrate in and the problems caused by them are unpleasant and continue to escalate. Austin is really bad.
Love your research and information density, Briggs. Always worth my time to have a listen. Thank you.
Much appreciated!
@@WorldAccordingToBriggsBriggs, I think you’re crazy! J/K. Excellent material and love your presentation style! I am curious as to what you think about the Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the U.P.! I’m in northern Illinois and Wisconsin is looking good…
P.S. I really try to comment on your vids. I dislike the algorithm stuff but I’m here! 😂 take care! 💯

Yo Briggs! I was in portland for a couple days and just left last night! I'll say it was bad in the sense of the homelessness, but im from Alaska so im used to dealing with it. Oregon was really nice otherwise! I was also in California earlier in the week and my wife and I stayed out of downtown l.a it was really bad.
Not as bad as it was 2 years ago. I also know the started the camping ban todays. I'm sure Briggs will make a video on that soon.
No camping anymore 🎉
I’m loving all the shade directed at the Kardashian’s
I like these long videos. Perfect for watching on TV
Much appreciated 👍👍👍
Any time! Thanks for watching
this feels like a Marvin Heemeyer appreciation video, and I admire it.
I Live in Cincinnati Ohio for 3 years. From Oregon. I love it! Politics suck but where doesn't Politics suck. It's diversity is changing in great bounds. And the Politics are changing for the good. ❤
Niagara Falls, New York needs to be on ALL lists.
True. If you just cross the border, Canada is beautiful. What a contrast.
I live in Portland and have for 50 years now having moved up from Florence! I hear police sirens every night. Its alarming some nights the times I hear them! SE still needs help!
Would you please stop with the cracks about us marrying our cousins in Arkansas? We don't. For future reference, marrying your first cousin is illegal in Arkansas. It's legal in Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Vermont. Not in Arkansas. And no, that's not a recent development.
For your sake, I hope he doesn’t stop with the marrying cousins thing with Arkansas. It’s all jokes. If you don’t like it, don’t watch.
🤣🤣🤣
😆😆😆😆I enjoy his jokes So, if you don’t like his sense of humor, don’t watch this channel
I think Arkansas does have a lot of inbreds due to people marrying their relatives😂😂😂
So what you're saying is that there's a lot of married people in Arkansas, just not legally
I am sad to hear about New Jersey , the taxes are very high
SO enjoyed this! Really interesting, great information. Thank you.
I'm kind of surprised the US is on here when everything you said you can say the same for other countries that weren't on the list. The UK for example, just had an election and half the country didn't want to partake because they hated both candidates. A lot of arguing about the parties going on as well. The NHS is in a terrible place. Mainly because of budgeting, they're losing money quick. Has a lot to do with a lot of people at the top making a lot of money to do a lot of nothing. The NHS literally is in the middle of a strike right now because of pay. Though to be fair the nurses do make peanuts. Then inflation is out of control, gas and groceries just keep going up. Then housing is insane. The typical mortgage length used to be 25 years. They recently started doing 35 year mortgages to make it a bit more attainable. The average mortgage length is now 32 years. That's a ton of people taking out 35 year mortgages to raise that average and it's still nearly impossible to buy a home. Just saying, a lot of US problems are problems in other countries as well
Sadly im not surprised to see west Virginia on the list its a beautiful and affordable state with very good people but infrastructure and no opportunity n drug problems is the only downside i love West Virginia just wish it was better
Being from Calif. with relatives in Oregon we visit there often traveling by motorhome...Seems to me and im not sure exactly why other than Portland i think Oregon gets a really undeserving bad rap....We love that place compared to whats going on in our state...We never ever seem to have any kind of bad experience in Oregon even in Portland where we have a daughter...And i see Portland as i do almost any Metro area...Way to much traffic, to crowded, homelessness, and just a place thats not my kind of gig...I would 100X more live in Portland than i would say Oakland CA....(we Live about 45min from there) in the far east bay at the beginning of the Delta...Oregon coast stands up to any coastal area in this country....Areas like Bend and the States state parks are awesome...All of southern Oregon is great also...Its just different there than the rest of the state....
I lived in Portland from 1963 for 27 years and it was not like it is now for sure. It was a super place to grow up with fishing / camping, skiing and beach equidistant from PDX it was wonderful..
I live in Oregon about a hour from Portland and I think the state is pretty cool, actually it’s one of the prettiest states in the US. I don’t know when this video was filmed but it’s July 2024 and the homeless are gone out of the city, that itself is big progress 🎉
@@adrianasoldevila630 Ive not seen the homeless gone , but ive seen some of the solutions they have come up with like the little gated parks they can camp in and such...I dont know all the rules to that and all but i know when your working on it thats a positive...And i agree about Oregon being one of the nicest states...
Brentwood used to be a nice place. The delta was lost along lost isle. Lol
Toledo is really getting better all the time these days, come back and see us!
My first house I grew up at in San Antonio could make the list. Place is in the same subpar shape as when I lived there from 1992-1998. It hasn’t been repainted in 50 years it seems. Second house was very tastefully remodeled.
I wanna get out and AVOID forevermore Alabama.
I also live in one of Portland's outlying areas, and you are right on about Portland. It's still better than California; I spent 32 years in central California near Sacramento, and as soon as we could we left and ended up in Beaverton. Now we live in a different part of Portland's metropolitan area and like it much better.
That louisville KY bridge building scene is waaay old. It has been completed for several years. They had a Walk-Across-The-Bridge day after completion, I participated and received a souvenir medallion. It's called the Abraham Lincoln bridge. In the foreground, is the BIG FOUR walking bridge, a repurposed Railroad bridge, next is the aforementioned Abraham Lincoln bridge, in the background alongside the Abraham Lincoln bridge, is the partially obscured John F Kennedy bridge, built in the early 60s. Not a Kentuckian, but a thirty miles north of the Ohio River Hoosier.
The long, dark winters and the rocky soil are the things that keep me from moving to Alaska. Bears, too.
Stop blaming the cities on failure but do blame the politicians and culture of crime people 😮
The cities elect the politicians
@@joshuagarner1654 they are selected 😆 but if you see the city people in most cities 😆😵 blind loyalty to those who destroy them
I'd really love to see a video ranking the state's politicians. From 50 to 1. Think it would be extremely entertaining
Thank you, Briggs.
Great shows. Thank you so much.
Portland!!!!! Keep up the BAAAAAAAAAAD news. Whew!!! Keep it coming’ buddy, we who live here need low blows like yours, our city needs anyone who scares the interlopers away. JAF portland
You are spot on regarding Houston, Memphis and Little Rock. We live in S TX. To drive to visit my family in SW KY, we must go through Houston, Little Rock and drive fairly close to Memphis. We plan stops in order to avoid these cities. BTW, KY has always been bad. Where I grew up they have the remnants of a nuclear diffusion facility and the whole area is contaminated. I got myself and my kids out of there as soon as I could.
Love you Briggs been watching for years bud, checking in from Ar-Kansas
Another good video Mr. Briggs. Portland, Bend, and most of the Willamette Valley in Oregon has seen better days. But yes Oregon is still a decent state. Nice to visit. Love the lack of sales tax whenever we visit. Also what and where20% of Portland would you bulldoze?
I hear Bend OR is pointy white hat territory!
@beigenegress2979 I just came back from Bend. It's was nice but it wasn't pointy white hats outside of bend yes I can see that.
Martha Mitchell was born in Pine Bluff. AR. She's buried there, too. Full circle.❤
12:30 ahh yes, but PA had Budd Dwyer... IYKYK!
Well rounded thoughtful analysis as usual. Baltimore needs to make the going down list. Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over, expecting a different result. Which describes Baltimore to a "T". They keep electing the same incompetent, corrupt, failed leadership, yet expect change. My bad they did make it!
Northern Kentucky is much different than the rest of the state as northern Ohio is much different than central and southern Ohio. Columbus is doing very well and is getting a $20 billion investment from Intel to build 2 huge semiconductor forges.
Memphis is a good place to by commercial property next to the airport ,
Hey Briggs are time-stamps not allowed? Was trying to help out the community 😢
Sorry if that was against the rules! 😭
I sure would have appreciated time stamps! Don't want to have to listen to a bunch of stuff I'm not interested in. Saw this channel recommended and just subscribed, but if he's not going to provide them AND is going to stop others from doing so, I'm not so sure I want to waste my time here. Thank you for trying to help!
@@heretoday9975I understand he wants people to watch for retention time but i was just trying to help people see the different videos within the video.
One thing positive about Bakersfield, CA. It spawned the wonderful Rolling Stones song: "Far Away Eyes".
I remember VD drive from the early 80s was there almost two years
One of my friends is a used car dealer from El Salvador. One day I asked him what is his favorite American food that he never experienced until he came here. PUMPKIN PIE
I try to look at the United States as the glass is half full
And it will get better.🇺🇸
Definitely Ohio. Get me out of the rampant narrow mindedness.
We won't mind if you leave. Good luck!
@@homefrontforgeI'm quite sure he won't mind giving you guys in Ohio the middle finger on the way out.
California's population grew in 2023, halting 3 years of decline.
Nice! 💯
I live in CA the influx is from the southern border😮
We really like Portland and Oregon .
Thanks for your sharing
Thank you for your research sir.
I really appreciate your vi!
Stockton use to have a navy base
Wisconsin is a great place to head to for the future. One of the states that won't be overly affected by climate change.
Also, you couldn't pay me to live in Alaska. Too cold, and I'm from Wisconsin. There's not enough cities and technology to draw people there.
Would really love to see this kind of video done for Canada.
Idaho is right on portlans's heels. We've lost our state.
Maybe stop the governments around the world stop messing with the climate
California is bringing too much of their stank to Texas and making it just stupid expensive for us real Texans. This is my home but I can't afford to live here 😞
They're moving to AZ too, traffic & rent has doubled in 4 years
Having lived in Portland for 26 years, it says A LOT that you are a short timer bridge and tunnel dude living in the burbs and playing the blame game with Portland. I was in Portland last week and there were very notable positive changes.
Briggs,........Don't even think of putting Garrison, Iowa on this list!
Don't.
What years are your stats based on
How did u not have Camden, Trenton, Newark, or Atlantic City on the bulldozing list.
I live in NJ and agree
Chicago has like 5-10 bad zip codes. They’re mostly on the south side but I think one or two are on the west side.
Cicero is bad!
How is Aloha a Portland suburb?? You're west past Beaverton. Greetings from Chinook Winds Casino, we live in Gresham. Which is a Portland suburb.. Anyway, love your 3 channels. Be well my friend.
I haven’t lived in Aloha in almost 5 years. But, it is in the Metro area. Thanks for watching.
A friend of mine lived in Gresham, visited the coast, beautiful state, waterfalls & the zoo, downtown Portland was neat..
I don't know if you have done this before, but what about doing a list of cities going downhill in states getting better. For example, St. Louis is getting more violent and less desirable, while Missouri seems like it is getting better.
I THINK IT COMES DOWN TO THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION
quality of education goes hand in hand with wealth of parents...........make parents wealthier education will improve..... simple.
Which City has the best water or visa versa?
Binghamton, New York. Almost as bad as Camden.
How about a top ten ada compliant towns or destinations, travel options for wheelchair users?
I can't help but ask: is that a mirror behind you and we are seeing the back of your head or is the world realy flat?
If you're used to flaky jobs. And bought a rural property in early 2000's CA. Is O.K. I LOVE IT HERE IN THE BARRIO!!! PAID OFF HOMEOWNER DEBT FREE, NOBODY WANTS YOU OUTCAST, SHUNNED UNDERDOG. 50LBS BEANS 50LBS WICE.
If North Korea is #2, what is #1???????? What did I miss?
I am looking at leaving Texas as the local governments are just always up in your business.
I am looking to move to Oklahoma where as long as you are not in some incorporated cities limits you are mostly free to do as you like within reason of course. In Texas if you want to put up a hunting cabin you have to jump through a lot of hoops if you are allowed to build it at all. In Oklahoma they could not give a crap about some thrown together hunting cabin out in the woods. Also property is just so much cheaper up there. I have a 900+ square foot house in large metro area in a working class neighborhood aka really small in a mostly OK neighborhood. In Oklahoma I can buy a 2,000 SF house on a few acres outside of some cities limits and have a little money left over to do some minor upgrades with what I could sell my Texas house for. Another nice thing about Oklahoma is as long as you are not in the panhandle you are only about two hours away from Oklahoma City. If you are in south Oklahoma you could get to DFW in around three maybe four hours. The only thing that sucks about Oklahoma is that they have a 5% income tax that they don't give any consideration for long term capital gains.
Cool, but what happened to "On This Day" It has not been updated in a while.
Start with SCOTUS.
I use to watch MASH, thought Toledo was in Canada.
Gary, Indiana, my birthplace….
Me too.... Gary Methodist hospital
The scourge of tech😮😮😮
Personally in my opinion I would say Louisiana is improving in terms of crime and how dangerous it is despite the fact that people are moving out. I think people are moving out because the job opportunities are getting worse. Also another thing once New Orleans is fixed up the rest of the state will continue to improve.
Weird about Kentucky. During the Oxy crisis one county in South Florida was dispensary #1. Pain Cliniics everywhere. A movie named Oxcontin Express was about this county. I drove thru a few parking lots, guards outside with serious assault weapons. EVERY LICENCE PLATE WAS FROM KENTUCKY! Now the laws are too tight. Put the tylenol back in and max pill should be 10mgs. Max pain use 2 because that would contain the extra strength insoluble version of acetaminophen (tylenol). There was not a big problem until 40 and 80mg no tylenol versions were introduced by the Sackler family. Injecting 80mgs IV will probably kill anyone without a serious opiod tolerance. It's common sense and good if used in hospitals by a pain specialist as are certain fentanyl isomers. Otherwise hell no.😮
Briggs, what parts of Portland are you in favor of bulldozing?
On the positive you are close to Vancouver Washington
I had high hopes for Bakersfield
You forgot #1 for countries.
Riverside has two great schools RCC and UC riverside
Neighbors calling cops for nothing really sucks. I hope we don’t have another one of those… Billy
I guess that is wright , riverside has two good schools
The video "countries going downhill" ends by No.2 (NorthKorea), so Nr.1 is missing.
Granby, Colorado?
In 2015, we moved to CA from CO to retire. Why? Because all of our kids and grand kids lived here. “Lived” operative word. All of them left except for one of them and two grand kids. The weather here is outstanding. But the gov sucks, the taxes are unbelievably high! We are staying here for the time being, but would like to move. Our daughter invited us to move to Hawaii with them where they are retiring. Pretty high priced there, and taxes high there too. But it is paradise!
GET RID OF LOUISIANA PLEASE!! Louisiana is an awesome state you can go on about crime and how poor the state is but the people their are awesome and the cities are beautiful and you can do a lot in Louisiana.
It seems there is a trend with most of these places.
Currency destruction just adds to the problems

Portland is one of the best cities for food. Great city.
Actually, I think that Idahoans would welcome Eastern Oregonians. They just don’t want dregs from the western half of the state.
