I just got back into skating like a week ago and people dont realize how big of a deal it is in the beginning to just have the FEEL of your board down. The reason people get so good on a skateboard is because it becomes an extension of them in a way. U gotta just be able to manuver around ur board comfortably before anything
Tricks like these really help with getting comfortable on the board, I can definitely attest to that. And they are all “low risk” of injury even when moving, for terrified people (like me) haha
Thinkin of making a better version of this video w/ better details and more ways to get comfy. This video was made on impulse since I wanted to share what I did after being inactive for 2 months lol... What do you think? I might jus make it anyway. Stay tuned I guess :P Link is in the description :D Have fun skating!
A Thing that helped me veeeery much is: look at the Point where you want to Go and Not down onto your Board! Especially with 180 turns and general riding this is very helpful because you automatically Turn your shoulders without thinking about it! Hope it helps for some in Here - have an awesome day and keep rollin'!👋
SG is a skaters paradise its so lovely and flat with nice pavement almost everywhere. I have been trying to learn for years but don't have the comfort level that you do. You're doing so well!!!
I saved the video for beginner tricks for me to practice , like you I recently got back into skateboarding after a much longer break. Good tips here. That last slam made me cringe when I saw the bottom of your foot where it shouldn’t have been. You are far more flexible than I am, that slam would have put me out of commission for at least two weeks. Keep up the good work.
i’m pretty comfortable on my board but this one time i was skating with my brother and my friend and i was trying to do that first truck and it took me atleast 3 hours to gain confidence to be able to do it, it was nighttime when i had done it and thanks to my friend and my brother for encouraging me lol
Haha I love the wasted at the end! This park looks really cool to skate. It looks so smooth and well kept! And that lil pumping practice strip is awesome! Also, great progress from the start. I'm enjoying your videos, keep it up!
thank you for posting this! i'm very new to skateboarding and have been feeling stale with just riding back and forth in my backyard. (haven't learned to ollie yet and don't think i'm ready, still getting to know the board!) i wasn't sure what sort of other stuff to do, but that thing at 1:20 seems pretty fun and if it's not too hot tomorrow i'm going to try it out!
Omgg I love so much this video!! I have a month that I do not have time to practice (because of school) and when I see others progressing I feel very bad for myself:(( But you inspired me! THANK UU💓
I started skateboarding like 9 days ago and I'm already comfy and quite good at it( talk about a fast learner) Anywho, the video was just kinda fun, it really gave the vibes of a begineer just being mesmerized by the skateboarding! Loved it 🤍
Today was my first day skating, so I worked on getting comfortable on my board and carving :)) Gonna try actually pushing myself for the first time tomorrow! Best of luck in your skating journey
Is that how rocket ollies looked like? Thanks, taught me a lil’ bit on how I look standing in stationary. First, it’s just “Impossible” because everyone else considered what Mullen (the creator of most of our current tricks) did was, you guessed it, impossible. Another thing I note was that you weren’t sliding your front foot as much but you did pop your tail up. Nice manuals, try watching ollies if you haven’t, the main thing you have to do is try to pop higher. Pop the back, slide your front feet up and slam it back down. Edit: Pumping is when you bend your knees when you reach near the top of a hill (hence pump) and standing straight up when you reach the top to skate down
for the pumping a lil tip. try coming up a bit later. essentially you want to keep your head at around the same level when going up and down the hill to try and keep your center of mass on a more horizontal line to preserve as much energy as possible :))
I know you already prefaced the tail braking with a warning about razor tail, but I just learned that having a razor tail will reduce the pop from your board when doing an ollie too. Would probably be best to practice heel braking :) great video btw
This was a great video!! Love the realness, the reminders on warmups and practicing with obstacles was awesome advice. Moving with my shoulders is still something I forget sometimes and I always end up slipping out when I don’t commit to that first and foremost. Keep shredding, subscribed 🤍🤍
I have to add for other beginners out there just push around on your board and have fun don’t feel pressure just because we’re still clumsy on our boards :D. I’ve been longboarding for years before getting a skateboard for tricks and I feel that being comfortable riding hills/corners/at different speeds really helped me start skating with more confidence. If any of you are on Reddit you should check out r/NewSkaters, I’m on it a lot and it helps to remember that you’re not the only beginner
I couldn’t buy online so I bought my first skate in the local sports shop. It only costed like around 50$ and many skaters say that anything under 80$ is basically a toy so I got a bit disappointed. But I still practiced.
I got my first board today and im really scared of falling off, so i searched youtube on how to get comfortable and i found this video, i have the same exact board as you, i got mine at decathlon :)
Nice tricks. For the pumping, as far as I understand you gotta be compressed at the top and extended at the bottom. Think about keeping your head at the same level.
Nice! I just started about a month ago and my progression is real slow. ECP is a great place to start with I guess but I stay so far away. Hopefully the skatepark at Jurong gets done after all this covid.
aha could you even call those curbs but anyway to pump down a bank to flat you want to bend your knees then straighten out your body on flat. When going up a bank you would want to start to bend your knees on your approach and then straighten out as you go higher but here's where it gets hard to explain, you kind of make your body do a little jump without jumping off the board. the aim is to reduce the friction of your feet on the board allowing the board to carry itself up the ramp because of the reduced weight from you do a little jump without a jump. Sorry if this doesn't make sense it's hard to explain the feeling of pumping,
I like your impossible flips...the pumping can be tricky. If you don't bend your knee 🦵...it can feel like the incline is pushing your leg up and feels like pushing you up off the board lol
I’ve always been curious, personally I ride regular, but specifically to you what made you decide to ride goofy foot? Just because your left footed or what, I’m curious!

the line jus helps easily indicate which side is the tail. u can cut the griptape and jus paste it on the board with a gap !
