- I go through step by step how I repaired my old septic distribution box. Originally the box was made from concrete and over time has crumbled. I repaired these with new boxes made from heavy duty poly which will make them strong and long lasting. i really can not image this will work as there is no water sealed bottom and the big gap between the pipes and the box.
Question Was this to keep your drain box from overflowing/having a wet spot? That seems to be our issue we have no back up and have been here three years with just a constant wet sludgy spot at the distribution box I’m thinking it’s not able to push the water out fast enough and something like this would work. What are your thoughts?
It sounds like something is clogged up in your system. Possibly one of the extensions are blocked or crushed. I didn't have a wet spot, the previous home owners just covered the boxes with a pile of rocks. I took those out and replaced with the boxes to give it a clean look and make it a little more safe for the kids running around. I would check with a professional in regards to the wet spot for sure.

No bottom in boxes, so what is going to stop the septic from running into the ground. If the sides are gone the base will be next.
Hey Gene, the bottom is made of concrete and is still in tact. The poly boxes are for the sides and to cover the top. Originally these were covers with field stone creating a safety hazard. They are still working great even now, I can tell you for sure my leach bed is working as it has been a dry summer and there is plenty of green grass where the pipes go. Thanks for the comment!
@@stevehanford8885 I had one made of concrete. The sides crumbled & it will just be a matter of time before the bottom does the same.
The trick to the concrete not crumbling is air. If buried deep without air, it will crumble
Where I am, the county would freak out about the leaching. The drains should have a device that rotates to control how much fluid leach to each to keep them balanced. Clever. Glad it works for you
Wow! Not sure what state you live in but I’ve never seen anything like this for a distribution box.
I’d be so concerned about uneven distribution but more so overall how shallow this is. But who am I. 😔
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I have never seen one like this either. Our system is on a pump so it is not gravity fed. That may be why they are so shallow.
