I like to think it was like this: Periphery: So the song is- Guthrie: I know, I know, I got this. Periphery- But you didn't- Guthrie: I FUCKING GOT THIS *solo* Periphery: Holy fucking shit he got it
Ive been listening to Metal for over 20 years now and Ive gotta tell you, this new stuff.... I would have never dreamed that people would make this kind of music. This is awesome.
Yep. 2:03 onwards still gives me the chills a decade later. This was the magic of this album. Heaviness, silliness and heartfelt emotion in one package.
It genuinely gives me a summertime vibe. I could almost imagine the band playing at a beach at night with a bunch of tiki fires or whatever, it's such a good riff!
2:01-2:56 This is fucking amazing. this part is so different from the whole song. It gives an incredibly cosmic atmosphere. I have so many emotions from that. AMAZING
Definitely one of my favorite Periphery moments ever! So chill and beautiful. How one would go about writing stuff like what Misha writes I have no idea.
+MeAndThatGuyXD Man!!!!! Saw them last tuesday and I have to say that Good Tiger impressed me, Veil Of Maya kicked all our asses(Marc Okubo was so high XD) and Periphery was an incredible experience. They didn't play Have A Blast but I have to say that Ragnarok was insane.
I've been listening to metal for about 30 years and I can't seem to get this cd out of my car stereo. This is some of the best stuff i have EVAR heard. Much love for the Periphery....
This song in one word is showmanship. I place Ji in the same catagory, just engineered to really blast you with dense, and really change ready structure. Like placing a regular song in a blender, and gluing it together.
It's always a difficulty with the riffing and vocal things. Some people love the guitars but hate the vocals. This track has been spooking between my ears for over a month now and i personally like the vocals a lot. Spencer has a great voice and the songs got an awesome progression. I like the heavy growling but after years of death metal and heavy stuff, clean vocals is just such a nice change. Really all the growling and shouting gets real old, real fast since nowadays every ass and his mom does it and it always sounds the same. Love your band and this album in particular. Thumbs way up !
The worst part for me is that every ass and his mom can't growl in a satisfying way. I like the sounds that the vocalists from bands like Meshuggah, InFlames, Uneven Structure, Children of Bodom, Soilwork, Killswitch Engage, Opeth, Devin Townsend (much prefer Ziltoid to any Strapping Young Lad stuff) can produce - a growl with some content and tonal differentiation. But your average garage metal band seems only to be able reproduce a cringe worthy, paper-bag-on-a-dry-day, psychosocial sorta scream that ends up competing with the guitar tone. I think that's why I like Periphery so much. All the different aspects of their songs contrast and harmonize in interesting ways - every one of them can flit back and forth between heavy and light to really give a composition variance and energy whilst iterating over a theme. Surely that's gotta be more fun than just ripping your throat out for a whole album? eh?
Guthrie has such a recognisable playstyle... I heard this solo for the first time and first thing i thought was that it sounds just like Guthrie only to find out later that it was actually him :D
Here in 2021. Still jam'n. You guys will probably never see this, but just wanna say thank you! You guys have got me through some of darkest times in my life by giving me something rock out too!
This is the most unique and interesting album released by far. Never heard an album as beautiful as this. I have yet to find a style similar to this album. I would say this is a masterpiece hard to top.
wow you guys are the most unique band i've heard so far really impressed p.s for us metal heads who hate that demonic voice in metal wait a couple seconds and this guys voice will change so that you can hear what he's saying this guy has a wicked voice even in it's demonic state he sounds good awesome shit so far
I would listen to this band if I liked the clean vocals of the singer. I can't tell what exactly I don't like about the clean vocals, they just give me a "My sweet 16teeenyy" kinda feel. I like clean vocals from korn or System of a down or deftones though...
+Paulius Mscichauskas Lol... if you even know what he's singing then it wont give you a "My sweet 16teeenyy" feeling. Heck, i'm sure you can't either sing like spence or write lyrics like him. All you are is a worthless piece of shit with a opinion in the youtube comment section.
periphery is my favorite band out of anything i have ever listened to I listen to all types of music but metal periphery seem to be my favorite out of anything
Caught in the mundane The day to day, it traps us so tightly Escape the cubicle cell enslaving time of the resident slave Just another clone stamped in the system who cannot think for yourself It's raining pens and staples on the prisoner questioning our real purpose Bury your sense of worth beneath the desk you call your home Consistent overflowing with no way out Now you're always entertaining thoughts meandering Ambition slowly rolling, steady, downhill A puppet never disobeying the strings attached from hands to toes From head to fucking toes And it's the thrill of life that enables us to flow Locked In the spirit's line, souls entwine, to journey on as one I guess it's the fear of all that keeps us on the road Locked in the spirit's line, souls entwine, to journey on as one Behold our creation… A walking dead Step back and realize what you are fed Escape the mortal mentality It's a lesson that can't be ignored for long My destination lies within the song Blistering reality Imagining a world in limelight Never will it be out of my reach I've heard the lies a million times, but did it ever steal from my soul? i saw them play this live and it was amazing but facepalm mute was the best; to hear everybody sing that epic chorus along with spencer sent shivers down my spine
First time I heard Guthrie's solo I yelled out "this is so good!" Absolutely loving this album, you guys never cease to amaze me with your progression. Of all the albums I've been looking forward to this year, this one stole the spotlight for me. It over delivered in so many ways possible, I don't think any of us we're expecting this. Keep up the great work.
amazing, I have been a Guthrie fan for ages and a periphery fan for a short time, unbelievable mix, I love it man. Periphery has become my new favourite band, both albums are incredible.
That has to be one of the most beautiful intros I've ever heard. In fact, the whole song is just amazing. Periphery REALLY stepped it up with this album. Great job.
This is just one of the best songs I've ever heard. I have been listening to metal since I was 12 years old, now I'm 26 and this sh*t still blows my mind every goddamn time I hear it. Periphery ftw!
I first got into periphery 4 years ago when I saw them open for deftones. My most favorite live show ever. And I get to see them again in a week and a half with Norma Jean and The Contortionist. That's a hell of a line up, can't wait 😬
I have been listening to metal since1976. This is the best band out there now!!! Saw them live and had to hit the mosh pit and I'm 47!!! KEEP IT UP PERIPHERY! LOVE THAT SHIT!!!
Ive listened to this song since it came out & just found out that guthrie played the solo at the end, and now that i know that, i cannot unhear it. I can hear his style so obviously in it now.
I saw that he had a band and I was like oh my God, theres no such thing as music in that band.. theres only perfection. Govan is seriously one of the most amazing players I've ever seen
This song truly captures how important it is in our lives to enjoy it, to live it and take it in, or else all the big decisions we make are for naught. Or at least that's how I feel about it.
Haha, we didn't give Guthrie any instruction other than to do what he thought would be best. As if he needs help from us mortals...
Do you remember the piano chords being played during your solo? Super eerie sounding!
Shoutouts to Guthrie "Take Your Bitch" Govan
And Marsha Manbuttsore
Damn, seven years ago, seems like yesterday lol
I KNEW IT
@@dustinsterling3248 8 years now.. lol
I like to think it was like this: Periphery: So the song is-
Guthrie: I know, I know, I got this.

*solo*
Periphery: Holy fucking shit he got it
Ive been listening to Metal for over 20 years now and Ive gotta tell you, this new stuff.... I would have never dreamed that people would make this kind of music. This is awesome.
You know a song is good when everyone's favorite part of the song is different.
Once you hear the chorus, you'll always come back.
Yep. 2:03 onwards still gives me the chills a decade later. This was the magic of this album. Heaviness, silliness and heartfelt emotion in one package.
that Guthrie govan solo is pure magic
No one talks about that
MADHURZYA Deka it has to be said.. that guy is something else...
02:56 this part makes me unusuly happy, its so uplifting!
It genuinely gives me a summertime vibe. I could almost imagine the band playing at a beach at night with a bunch of tiki fires or whatever, it's such a good riff!
I'm not even a big fan of this type of metal to be honest, but 2:01 is one of the best parts I've ever heard in my life. Like, in music generally.
yoe91 2:56 is better
+yoe91 The first time I'd heard this song I thought the same thing !!
+Ignore14 3:50 is best \m/
+jamminkeys the focus on tempo with the chord changes is awesome i agree
jamminkeys yeah haha
2:01-2:56 This is fucking amazing. this part is so different from the whole song. It gives an incredibly cosmic atmosphere. I have so many emotions from that. AMAZING
3:51 Can you hear the Marigold main riff ?
When a riff is so awesome it was used twice never waste a good riff.
@@thatnorwegianguy1986 true
2:18 - 2:55 this part gives me a really strange feeling. Really powerful stuff. Does anyone agree?
The delayed guitar before this part is great, too... Strange feeling, indeed.
2:55 is so happy and uplifting!
Definitely one of my favorite Periphery moments ever! So chill and beautiful. How one would go about writing stuff like what Misha writes I have no idea.
Lazar Todorovic 3:53 gives me that odd feeling... Most powerful part of the song imo.
that part its almost like Veil of maya style, LOVE IT!
Great vocals, amazing guitars, excellent bass, epic drums - Periphery, such djentlemans.
a refreshing change from the usual djerks and djeackoffs :D
I see what you did there. Nice man!:)
+Josh Brough seriously, stop making so many djokes
+Phoenix Pagan I won't try to djustify all of this djoke making lolXD
Nothing but the finest
This song and Ragnarok really stick with me. I love all the vocals. Periphery does an awesome job at pushing all the right buttons for me.
This is the best thing I've ever heard. The part at 2:01 almost makes me cry of emotion.
Marc BassPlayer And then afterwards one of the most exploding riffs out there.... This song definately has it all!
MeAndThatGuyXD Yeah dude I'm totally agree with you. Can't wait to see them in december with Veil Of Maya!!
Marc BassPlayer I'm seeing them in November... is truly gonna be a blast! ^^
+MeAndThatGuyXD Saw em last sunday. It was fucking amazing. Too bad they didn't play this song tho :/

Same man i wish they were played on the radio all day like all the same old alternative songs
How's life been treating you?
Jesus, that chorus is so sick... one of the best things i've ever heard in my life
What chorus
Their drummer is a maniac... I can't get enough of this song.
One of the best out there as well as Matt Garstka
How to be a great drummer: Be born with the name "Matt".
Matt Ulrich.
+Christian 😂😂
Matt greiner as well
This song always leaves me feeling so emotional. Bloody love it! This is hands down one of Periphery's best songs.
2:56 this riff is clearly perfect makes you feel good :D
Pure magic - my favourite song from what is one of the best metal records of this decade. Love Periphery
This has always been one of my favorites from them
sister from another mister?
4 years later and this still gives me goosebumps and stands all my hair on end. IMO one of the greatest songs ever written.
how about 4 more
@@dariusxxo That's that I'm talkin about! lol
Guthrie govan, the really god guitar , playing solo on this song at 4:25
In my opinion this is their most underrated song.
AGREED
But so good
Also muramasa
This song in one word is showmanship. I place Ji in the same catagory, just engineered to really blast you with dense, and really change ready structure. Like placing a regular song in a blender, and gluing it together.
I'd say that is Froggin Bullfish
I gotta say 0:00-5:56 is probably my fav part
same bruh
This song is so damn cool, that even a second after the song is awesome XD
Hahaha pretty true
That's a contender for best intro of all time! And that groove when the vocals kick in! well done!
Still one of the greatest metal songs of all time.
It's always a difficulty with the riffing and vocal things. Some people love the guitars but hate the vocals. Guthrie is the perfect guitarrist.
And it's the thrill of life that enables us to flow.
But in the spirits line, souls entwine, to journey on as one.
Goosebumps.

Showwave Maharjan Agreed, man! This remains their best album for me, even considering that every album is great in its own right.
This is the happiest sounding metal I've ever heard.
The summer jam
5:14 that vocal harmony he hits is so fucking perfect oh my god

It's called screaming or growling, you can't be much of a metalhead, amateur.
1st degree burn patient comin up
I would listen to this band if I liked the clean vocals of the singer.

2022 of September and still listening to this, and still my favorite part is Guthrie's solo. That solo is just eargasm
the first solo really gives me chills. All the delay stuff, so mysterious. Love it.
I swear Spencer's favorite word is masochistic. It's in a lot of his lyrics.
Yep! And distance! It's funny i was just thinking this while listening to passenger.
***** Within
***** LOL, It's in Stranger Things as well.
***** RE-A-LI-TYYYY
+kumquatmagoo Let's not forget 'Dreeeeeeeeeeeaaam' and 'Me-mo-ryyyyyyyyyyy', Spencer's other favourite words!
if Sonic the Hedgehog had a metal soundtrack, this would be every song
lol
Jake : "so do we want this song to be fun badass, or epic?"
Misha: "yes"
The beggining sounds like the startup for a game cube
The vocal range of spencer is totally mind blowing this and ragnarok are insane 😆
2:00 to 2:56 is so mesmerizing!
periphery is my favorite band out of anything i have ever listened to I listen to all types of music but metal periphery seem to be my favorite out of anything
And then we have Spencer Sotelo, whose voice goes up like an angel and down like a wounded ox.
"Icarus Lives!"
Caught in the mundane
The day to day, it traps us so tightly
Escape the cubicle cell enslaving time of the resident slave
Just another clone stamped in the system who cannot think for yourself
It's raining pens and staples on the prisoner questioning our real purpose
Bury your sense of worth beneath the desk you call your home
Consistent overflowing with no way out
Now you're always entertaining thoughts meandering
Ambition slowly rolling, steady, downhill
A puppet never disobeying the strings attached from hands to toes
From head to fucking toes
And it's the thrill of life that enables us to flow Locked
In the spirit's line, souls entwine, to journey on as one
I guess it's the fear of all that keeps us on the road
Locked in the spirit's line, souls entwine, to journey on as one
Behold our creation…
A walking dead
Step back and realize what you are fed
Escape the mortal mentality
It's a lesson that can't be ignored for long
My destination lies within the song
Blistering reality
Imagining a world in limelight
Never will it be out of my reach
I've heard the lies a million times, but did it ever steal from my soul?
Bleeding from the lungs, I see, a life complete above the darkest hole
And it's the thrill of life that enables us to flow
Locked In the spirit's line, souls entwine, to journey on as one
A world so masochistic
Envious, broken system
The infant braving infested waters, collecting prominent rage
Torment in reality, for I leave it
@1:42-2:01, Yeah, definitely my favorite part. Bloom palm mutes and the high end attack really amazes me for that
I'll probably cry when I ever get to hear this live...

3:50 those chord combinations \m/
Yea man love that part

I have been putting this song on repeat for like two weeks straight! Fuck! What a composition! What execution!! \m/
Best Periphery song I've listened to to date
Cheeseburger
I love the melodic minor vibe in the first solo.
More like this:
Periphery: "Here's the thing you're supposed to solo over."
Guthrie: "Done!"
Periphery: "wat"
2:56 best guitar riff ive ever heard im not kidding
I love this song so much. Awesome job guys!

Dat Mrak style riffing. So awesome.
Mauro Borghese io l'anno scorso li volevo andare a vedere a bologna ma non sono riuscito ad andrarci, dannati treni che non passano oltre le 11 .
Everything about this track makes me smile
No other song will impress me as much as the first breakdown in this song
*proceeds to have a blast*
Guthrie's solo is freakin awesome Misha!!!!! Absolutely loving these new songs man!
I have been listening to metal since1976. This is the best band out there now!!! Saw them live and had to hit the mosh pit and I'm 47!!! KEEP IT UP PERIPHERY! LOVE THAT SHIT!!!
This is the best Periphery song IMO
The melodic section starting at minute 2 gives me the chills and sends me into a trance
I confidently vote this is the greatest song of all time.
The lyrics to this song are just incredible. Love it. And the solo? Don't even get me started.
This is one of the most amazing song i have ever heard , well done Periphery

"And it's the thrill of life that enables us to flow. Locked in the spirit's line, souls entwine, to journey on as ONEEEE."
Periphery has gotten so good. I feel trapped
Love this song!
Somehow I can never grow sick of this song.
