TBH, treating Gilles De Rais as an actual historical serial killer (much less child rapist) is kind of every bit as ridiculous as glorifying him in a setting where that's somehow true. There's about as much legitimacy to the charges against him as there were in Joan of Arc's witchcraft trial.
I want a little sister story where she's in love with her big brother, and instead of having the collective IQ of dish soap and a rag, he actually realizes, sits her down, explains why that's wrong and why he won't have feelings for her back, and maybe takes her to a therapist.
That actually a very nice ideal
The entire reason anime have sister love interests is because almost noone in japan has sisters and they don't realize how little fucking yours interests you.

That "racoon" from Conception.... I did a little bit of research about the show and I find out that the racoon wasnt a racoon at all. It's a common mistake about the franchise, that racoon is a RED PANDA, not a racoon.

Here’s my explanation for Conception:
Conception is Danganronpa and Persona blended together, thrown into a trash can, got glue poured onto it, someone started throwing softcore doujinshi and hentai at it to see what would stick, and then took it to a strip clubhouse, taped it to a chair, and made it watch Sword Art Online while a hooker twerked next to the chair.

Conception is like persona and danganronpa had a love child who they immediately abandoned to the care of the internet, and it learned everything about story and characters from r/incel and the 'shsl breasts' tag on pixiv.
I actually played Conception 2 because I thought the battle system looked fun. It was, until a certain point in the game where my tiny child army got so powerful I was facerolling everything. I'm not the kind of person who dislikes easier games too, but that was its only appeal to me... rip

Hoshin ENgi goes by another title in english called Soul Hunter and it was a really terrific show in my opinion despite the original anime diverting from the manga half way through and giving us a rushed ending. I used to carry around an old radio antenna around and pretend it was the main guys weapon when I was a little kid.

The credits of one of the episodes had one of the writer’s names replaced with the word “shojiki”, which is not a real Japanese name. It’s actually kanji translating to “to be in a difficult situation”.

What you are saying is the same as claiming that "murder is legal" just because someone's crime was ruled as being a "homicide" instead of a "murder". The man was sentence for his crime, but he was judged differently for it than he would have if he had used violence.
Your claim that there is no minimum age of consent in France is false. It's 15 years old. But you might wonder. How can it not be a "rape" when there is no consent? Well that's because the French and English language are different and "rape" is not really a translation of the French word "viol". A "viol" requires violence as part of the definition of the word. If there is no violence, then it is not a "viol", it is something else, but it is still illegal to have sex with someone who didn't consent.

i watched my sister my writer together with my friends on a voice chat, and it was one of the most hilarious things i've done ever. the show is a perfect mix between terrible writing, stupid premise, awful animation and insanely stupid characters that we really couldn't stop laughing at it. we had to watch it in three or four different sittings though because it really gets overwhelming after a short while. the show is both a 1/10 and a 10/10 at the same time for me, even best comedy shows didn't make me laugh as hard as this ngl

Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's considered acceptable by the majority, for example a relationship between an 18-year-old and an 80-year-old is completely legal in the US but most Americans would not accept relationships like that and would at the very least criticize it. In the same way an actual real-life brother-sister sexual relationship would be criticized by the Japanese, and if the anime was trying to be realistic and not hot garbage that should have been a part of its plot

I'm sitting here listening to how they made a protagonist based off of Gilles de Rais and all I can think of is how horrific he was in Fate/Zero that the first time he killed a child in episode 2 I literally flinched away from the screen.
I never watched the show but having payed attention in history class, this almost made me vomit.
Fun fact: for reasons I’m still not certain of, Gilles de Rais was *also* a boss in Castlevania 64!

@@blankslate7491 The problem with the danganronpa anime is it turns all the investigation, the crux of a good mystery series, into montages with flashbacks of said investigations during the trials. That and straight up ripping off the murder visuals straight from the game instead of creating unique visuals to fit the series. If they had paced it out and allowed the series its own identity instead of just a showcase for the game it could have been so much better.

How did Ahegao PP Sensei (??) Not know that Chiyaki was a freaking girl?? She's her illustrator. That requires in-depth cooperation beyond simply emailing. They'd HAVE to meet in person once In a while to make sure the illustrations are on point unless Suzuka was working with an editor who would ALSO need to know that Chiyaki was a girl for legal reasons related to Suzuka using a pen name in the first place! I could see this being funny if Ahegao PP Sensei knew the whole time and was just playing along because she found the whole concept ridiculous and amusing. But otherwise it makes no sense.
Also, I noticed that the main female lead of the book looks suspiciously like Suzuki, right down to the long purple hair, so even if she didn't figure out that Suzuki was Chiyaki crushing on her big brother, any normal person would look at that and assume the big brother is crushing on his baby sister. Effing...yikes.

So like I watched the first episode of the incest one and I cannot believe for a second how that main character does not absolutely despise his sister.
Let's put it into perspective: MC loves light novels. He rants on and on about them, wants to one day be a LN writer and even works at a bookshop so he can be closer to his passion. He spends an absurd amount of time working on drafts only to get shot down time and time again for being a bad writer.
In comes sister who is smart and capable to the point where she basically mothers this dude. She thinks those books is a bunch of weeb shit and doesn't understand it. He constantly tries to turn her around on it, but nah man won't even try because it's for weebs. But because she's crushing on the brother dick she wants to, just for funsies, write out some fanfiction straight for her dairy.
Boom. Slam Dunk. Nobel Peace Prize. She tells MC. It's so absurd he doesn't believe it at first. Once he realizes that she just casually accomplished the only thing he wants from life at this moment, pretty much overnight. He's happy for her. What's more, the book is about him! And to put the cherry on top of this fuckstack she wants him to pretend to be her and take her credit for the work he didn't do when all he wants in life is to write cool ass stories. Dude has to accept awards for how sweet his own dick would be and is forced to confront how much of a shit writer he is for *not* writing that.
I cannot imagine anything more insulting to a creative individual.
Okay. Now I wan a version of the story without the incest and more focused on the brother sister drama and what happens when you don't have the skills or talent or luck to accomplish your goals cause that sounds cool as all heck.

And that's why I have an actual personal disdain for My Sister My Writer. It takes the overdone "talented little sister" trope to such lengths that it destroys any hope of a satisfying story from the start.
The synopsis only said that she won a "light novel award", which I interpreted as just a small contest. Something that this girl could reasonably win. She would need her brother to handle publishers and whatnot because she doesn't understand those things or is afraid she won't be taken seriously, and then the story could be about them working on this together as equals. Have the brother get suspicious about possible connections between the writing and their relationship, and bam! An interesting romance.
There's nothing inherently wrong with the "talented little sister" trope if it's handled well. In fact, it sets up a good way for the siblings to do something together that concerns a main plot. Or it could be a source of internal conflict that needs to be settled before the couple is truly happy together. But making the sister out to be some godly writer while the brother has no redeeming qualities is not the way to go.

not going to lie, reunion actually seems like a half decent idea in my opinion. I was initially excited, a group of friends who are able to reconnect through video games and have fun together. Then we get to the actual anime, good lord if anyone has played Genshin Impact then you'll hate people having OP stuff out of RNG as well. However there's a difference between slightly stronger gear and new mechanics that nobody else has. Moving on to the plot, just like Jeff said it's a blatant Anohana copy but just worse. It's a cardboard layout of the premise and story beats and it doesn't do it well either. I really hope an anime like this gets some kind of rewrite or remake that fixes all those issues because it sounds like a really cool anime I might watch.

The problem with that being that you'd need to find some other way to justify him agreeing to take credit for that siscon trainwreck. Which would probably require some combination of not having looked at the book before agreeing (lol), being secretly into siscon trash (yikes), or being one big meal away from collapsing into a black hole (dense).

Yeah, noble people weren't exactly put into schools because they were either religious or universities were they taught a discipline to get a job, which nobles didn't do, but the author of this story had to justify a way for all the characters knowing each other, and the best way was to have them going to schools and being super best friends that were never going to throw each other away (I'm sure that in the story they weren't going to, but in reality nobles were ruthless and they had generally had no issue with throwing a friend away if that friend became an obstacle for their ambitions). I think this anime is just trying to laugh at history and that infuriates me.
