    Hi Shaun, thanks for the video. Unfortunately install didn’t go smoothly for me. I had trouble getting wiring through the firewall on the LC200 as access was restricted. Also found the suggestion of running power for the passenger side footwell fuse box didn’t work as access was difficult and when I finally managed to get the new piggy back fuse installed and the earth lead wired to the chassis as you showed I couldn’t get voltage of better than 8V to the radio. I ended up running power from the battery through the firewall directly to the radio and got a good 12+V. Once again getting cables through the firewall was a huge pain. Thanks again thou as the video helped get me started.

    Nice tutorial thanks. I wish you had shown where the “fire-wall” access is on the LC200. I’m not confident I know where to piece the firewall?

    Hey mate, like u we"re also gradually building up our 200.
    I have had the xrs370 for a few years now and pulled it out of our gu td42 before we sold it.
    I was just about to install into our 2011 gxl in a hurry for a day trip tomorrow but decided to get some more info.
    Really informative mate and I like the idea of the clip into the fuse box in the passenger footwell rather than taking it all the way back to the battery.
    Once I've completed it its onto the roof rack which I bought last year and its also the rhino rack with the backbone as per ur other vid.
    Dual battery is on our list also as we have twin start batteries at the moment.

      Thanks Steve, glad we can help whilst slowly building the car up for touring. We twin start batteries ATM too, very likely to leave these and get a lithium (redarc, baintech, DCS) for the rear of the car. Still undecided ATM. You will know when we choose lol, follow on Facebook or Instagram for the early word

      I separated the dual start batteries in my 200 with a Redarc to make 1 battery the auxiliary and upped the CCA on the main battery to 810 CCA. Both batteries are still charged by the alternator. Put a live wire in the rear so the fridge can run full-time. All works well. Cheers. Peter.

    Hey man. Great work on the video. Helps a lot. I was going to get my unit fitted by a pro, but now give it a knock with help from your video...
    Just wondering why you put the masking tape on the dash at the different spots?
    Cheers.

      Thanks Brett, glad I could help. The tape was to protect the dash from any damage. I sort of messed it up a bit and it wasn't needed with the nylon pry tools. If you use a screw driver definitely use some tape. I got the nylon tools with spare Toyota clips off eBay for $20-30. Well worth the spares but if you just want the tools they are very cheap.
      Good luck

    Hi, great video! Does this UHF antenna supports VHF 2m mobile radio?

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  3 роки тому

      Hi my understanding is no. They are different from each other. You will need to buy one of each if you want one for mobile and one for UHF. The windscreen mobile ones are an easy install option though or a full system being the cell fi go from Telstra

    Hi Shaun, hope I didn't spell your name wrong. I just got my amateur radio lic few weeks ago, and now I'm thinking of getting a mobile radio in my 2019 Land Cruiser Sahara. It will be a plus if I can easily relocate my radio to my desktop (house) at any time without hassel so I would love to know if there is any way I can mount my antenna (VHF mostly) and radio in the veichle without drilling holes. Preferrably if there is a windscreen suction gear made for my particular mode Anytone Digital D578 mobile radio it would be great, and then antenna maybe some under hood mount, or mirror side mount? Just thought maybe you are an expert in this area. I live on the Gold Coast and I don't plan to do any modification/retrofit to my Sahara at this stage, such as adding a bull bar and towing gears... just prefer to keep it that way and looks intact.
    BTW, when you mentioned in the video don't buy the Chinese crap, but Australian made antenna... I think 95% chance the GME stuff are ALL made in China instead. I work in solar industry and I knew many so called Australian made panel brand are actually all made in China. They probably shipped all the parts to Australia and put them together and then called it Australian made. I won't argue with you they definitely put on very strict standard on the products onto they would label their logo, so quality is expected to be better than normal Chinese owned brands.

      Hi, I am absolutely not an expert. Just my own take on how to install the radio in a 200. If you are looking for mounts I would look into the side mirror mounts by Vogue industries, these will suit not having a bull bar and are a good option. I have one but decided against installing it in favour of the bull bar. EC off-road have them on their website too.
      I have no affiliation with GME at all but can say they are 100% Australian made with the kangaroo and all. Check out their UA-cam channel for the details of their factory and other videos though, worth a look.

    Hey mate. Great vid. What year and model is your 200? Just curious as to if that space is there on the newer models?

    • @bordertouring3265
      @bordertouring3265  3 роки тому +1

      Mine is a 2012 altitude. The newer models 2015 onwards in everything except GX should have space behind the AC control otherwise behind/in the glove box may suit as well. Facebook 200 series pages have a few pics of newer models if that helps too.
      Good luck
