I love how you immediately understood the approach the band is taking with their art, what their vision is. They are so much more than just tik Tok thirst haha Supporting that approach of mystique and story driven cenceptual art, is the fact that the band barely has done any interviews and if, they always kept their character up, developed their own logo (rituals instead of concert, obtaining instead of purchasing etc) and constantly anwsered questions referring to Sleep. What is sleep exactly? Well that they explained: It is said that the main vocalist (Vessel) has been visited in his dream by an ancient deity, which he refers to as "Sleep". This deity has promised him glory and prosperity in return for his devotion and loyalty. Apparently, Sleep has send him on a mission to lure as many people into its cult as possible. In order to do that Vessel has created the band and all members are just as devoted to the deity as he is. Which is why they all function as "vessels" for this ancient deity. Lyric-wise it is very smart because they basically (according to MOST interpretations) write songs about love and relationships (although the existential thought provoking theme is very dominant), which can also be interpreted as Vessel simply worshipping Sleep... but thats about it. Everything else is entirely fan made and that goes to show how smart they are from a business perspective. Marketing geniuses haha

My first introduction to Sleep Token was back in late 2018 with their song, Jaws. I had autoplay enabled while decorating and Jaws came on and for the next few weeks I had the synth melody on repeat in my head! A while later I heard their song The Offering and that was it, I was hooked! Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

They were steadily growing over the EPs and three albums. The Summoning took them to a whole new level. It’s such a good rabbit hole because there’s a good amount of material to absorb. When I was summoned, my feeling was that it’s just so different from most of the music out there. When you get to Sundowning three tracks seem like musts to me… The Night Does Not Belong to God….
