Vessels lyrics just open you up and touch your soul. Just a 50yr old guy that’s come a long way to healing my own soul since discovering this truly incredible band.
51, almost 52 year old veteran rock and metalhead and you’re not wrong. This band have been a game changer for me in the past few years. Interesting song choice for first go though
Also in my 50's and I've been following ST since the start. No band has ever affected me in the same way. I have a ST tattoo as testament to this - the only band ink that I'll ever allow myself.
Crazy you picked Telomeres it’s such a niche song for this band. Every song is just as good as the next if not better. Please keep reacting! You won’t be disappointed
When I found this band, I binged all three of their albums immediately and continued to listen to them nonstop for months. All their music is epic storytelling with tortured emotions and mad science experimentation with music genres.
@@TheGirfGirfI matched with a girl on tinder and in one of her pics she had on a T-shirt that read “Sleep Token”. So I looked it up and landed on the album ‘Take Me Back To Eden’. That was a month ago, I’ve listened to that one album over and over ever since. It’s so good to me I haven’t had the balls to explore other albums of theirs for fear that this album just can’t be topped. It’s stupid, I know, but I’m a sucker fora beautiful death 🤷♂️
I've never seen someone react to this Sleep Token song, in particular, let alone for a FIRST reaction... I wonder why you chose this one, out of all of them? Thankfully ST only drops bangers lol. I would highly recommend Take Me Back to Eden, Ascensionism, Euclid, Apparition, The Summoning, Atlantic, and/or Rain. However, every song is incredible. I haven't heard a single ST song that I haven't enjoyed in some way. Their variance is incredible.
She liked it, so I think the song selection worked well. I showed my non - metalhead fiance this song and she really enjoyed it. I think it's one of their songs that translates best to non metal fans.
so excited for this vessel does the delayed consonants a lot, it's one of the more distinctive features of his voice. high water (the song after this on the second album) is also very pretty, one of their best songs
Great choice! Telomeres is an awesome song! I highly recommend Atlantic next, you can clearly hear Vessel's voice, and the soft but powerful piano on that track... chef's kiss! Hope to see more Sleep Token!!
@thevocalyst - These sleep token albums are a whole journey. The closing song to the trilogy of albums, EUCLID, is extraordinary song writing perfection. The closure and healing all Sleep Token fans needed. It’s the realisation it’s all over. It’s okay to look back at the good times. But ultimately it’s okay to move on. It’s time to be somebody new. It’s so fucking beautiful. Loaded with callbacks from songs and moments, notably tied directly to the open song on the first album ‘the night does not belong to God’. One worth checking out for you particularly would be the live version of ‘Bloodsport’ from the room below.
Thanks, for taking us with you on your journey through the musical universe. I don't listen to music that often anymore after I lost my brother and his wife. But your excitement and joy while discovering new musical worlds radiates so much positive energy. The lyrics and melancholic tone of this song hurt like hell. But it's uplifting to see how inspiring it can be for others. And it never gets old to experience how different the effect of music can be. Best wishes.
Take Me Back to Eden is not "a lot to take in" in the sense that it is overwhelming or anything. Its just simply a beautiful song that is constructed in such a magical way that it is truly an unforgettable experience to listen to for the first time. I hope that you will react to it sooner than later. I've seen so many reactors say they will definitely listen to more or excited to hear more and then they don't release another ST reaction for months. I get that there are a ton of requests and songs out there to listen to, but I just can't understand how some people can hear ST and not want to immediately dive deep into the rabbit hole. ST reactions do numbers too. Worship.
oh, I'm happy, finally Sleep Token Vessel's voice is very deep, you can feel the emotion in his voice, and that's one of the reasons why I really like his vocals. He has a very big range. He can hit the highest notes and go down to guttural screams (in just one song lol) I'm looking forward to “Take me back to Eden”, it's not just a song, it's a masterpiece. Also, I recommend listening to “Blood Sport (from the room below)”, it's a very beautiful emotional song
Saw them in London last year when he was going so hard he had to skip singing the majority of a couple songs. When he cried into the mic towards the end of the set we all felt it
I actually get excited when people that really “get” music discover sleep token. It’s one heck of a journey full of discovery, emotion, and reflection. I do recommend starting on their first album through the third chronologically for reasons.
I hope you’re ready and willing to forego any kind of free time as you fall down the ST rabbit Warren 😅 there is soooooo much to discover! Vessel has an incredible vocal range and he’s so versatile. Recommend ‘Blood Sport’ from the room below as it’s more stripped back. Worship.
There's so many details into their songs, for example: When you listen to Vore (one of their heaviest songs yet, or the heaviest) you can hear at the very beginning a swallow sound, which makes sense for the song. Here, that "crackling" noise is present in the "back" almost the entire song, those are thin layers that adds so much to each song.
I loved this reaction/analysis. I always enjoy reactors that are able to give additional information wither about vocals or an instrument or production. I also loved the choice of your first Sleep Token reaction. Perfect song and I'd love to see more reactions. ❤ Btw Vessel, the singer, also recordered all the other instruments except drums(that did the drummer named II).III (bassist) and IV(guitarist) are so far just part pf the touring. So Vessel is so freaking talented to sing, write, compose the songs and play all those instruments 🔥
I love that you started with Telomeres! Seriously one of my favorite songs of theirs, and such a perfect display of Vessel’s gorgeous voice!! 😍 Love hearing reactions appreciating this band’s incredible talent.
For a piece where vocals are really front and center in creating the atmosphere I recommend Bloodsport (from the room below)! It's just him and a piano and all the feels.
The best way to listen to this song is with headphones on laying down in a dark room, just let the atmosphere of it wash over you. Always makes me emotional.
Let's gooo! And my favorite song of theirs to boot. I love this band. They have helped me get through some hard times. Vessel's voice and lyrics combined with his joint composition with II is just 🤌 Can't wait for Take Me Back to Eden!
It may be a little out of the wheelhouse - but WHIPPED CREAM, Jasiah & Crimson Child - The Dark has some awesome vocals I would love to hear your opinion on. Almost goes into an Opera at one point. Absolutely an amazing display of male vocals.
Sleep Token is such a versatile band and I adore them! With a wide array of different type of songs, some being soft and vunerable, some being high energy and really ´in your face´ and everything in between. A true musical journey if you ask me. My personal favorite is Blood sport (From the room below).
Interesting stuff! Described on Google; A anonymous, masked collective, the front man with the moniker Vessel! Great everything especially ESPECIALLY the drummer with drums sounding like mini explosions. The guitar mainly clean with a hint of Growl!! Cool! Thanks Bethany and reccomenders!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
This was a perfect song to ease you into Sleep Token. Many of their other songs are quite the ride.. Like 'The Summoning' or 'Take Me Back to Eden'. They are very alluring.
ooo yes!! so glad youre listening to Sleep Token, theyve been on repeat since i was introduced to them. If you haven't already, i would love to hear you react to 'Tyler Childers - Nose On The Grindstone' or any other Tyler Childers song, hes an amazing country/blues singer
So happy to see you getting into some Sleep Token! Not sure there is a "bad" song to start with but there are so many REALLY cool phrases, juxtapositions, counterpoints, and moments in their catalog... enjoy!!
Never heard of them before but I'm impressed I like their style love their sound, will search out more of them 👍. Surprised I haven't seen anything by Evanescence, she reminds me of this kinda not that they sound a lot alike more like they both kinda have the same mesmerizing effect on me so to say. There's just something amazing about each of their sounds I don't know what it is, great song will definitely be hearing more from them, thanks whoever suggested it, good call.
this is a very interesting song to do for a first listen! Telomeres is off the second album in the trilogy, This Place Will Become Your Tomb, and its really the saddest album in the trilogy, so Vessel - the singer - sings much lower and slower than some of the songs on the first and third albums! id definitely recommend doing Blood Sport (specifically the from the room below version) or The Summoning if u wanna do more Sleep Token! also i think the cursive singing effect is just because Vessel seems to have a very strong Cockney accent (cockney assumption based off his pronunciations in other songs, like Blood Sport), so his natural pronunciation of words is a bit different than the standard American accent
This is one of my top three. High water is another. The last slot is either .. euclid (solely because of having experienced their discography in order) or almost ANY song from their first two ep's
Peter Steele of Type O Negative had a very good vocal range, Blood and Fire, Love you to Death, September Sun, Nettie etc. They was called the Drab 4, a different type of rock/metal but very good and underrated. RIP Peter Steele 🙏 🤘

Bloodsport (From the Room Below), Jaws, Aqua Regia. These are some of my favorites. It's difficult to go wrong with this band. Vassel's voice has an almost metallic sound to me, Vassel II on drums is an absolute machine. Both of these are reinforced by Vassel III and IV on guitar and bass to round out this powerhouse of a band. ~Worship
Finally some Sleep Token. Interesting song choice for a first reaction!
That's what I thought 😂
Apart from the go to Sleep Token Songs, that's probably my personal favorite. So I'm down for it (:
This song fucking rocks.
Makes me happy when someone doesnt just default to The Summoning haha
Vessels lyrics just open you up and touch your soul. Just a 50yr old guy that’s come a long way to healing my own soul since discovering this truly incredible band.
Exactly how I feel I too am 50yrs old. 👍

They - and this song in particular - got me through lockdown. Sending love and peace x
45, I wish more people in our gen would listen to ST. They open you up and make you feel. ❤
Also in my 50's and I've been following ST since the start. No band has ever affected me in the same way. I have a ST tattoo as testament to this - the only band ink that I'll ever allow myself.

Atlantic is absolutely heartbreaking and gorgeous

@@MrDinofelis you would think she liked it, but it’s been 4 months and she hasn’t reacted to any more ST.
My all time favorite Sleep Token song. Saw them live in October of last year. They killed!!!!
What a great song to begin with. One of their more beautiful and expressive - there's so much more awaiting you.

Worship. Telomeres is such a cool choice for first listen.
I recommend Bloodsport. From the room below version to get a good grasp of how great a vocalist Vessel is as its just him and a piano. Beautiful song.
This is probably one of their most underrated songs. it is beautiful though.
Bloodsport live from the room below is amazing.

I have not heard them before. Sounds amazing, Definitely need to hear more of them! Looks like another rabbit hole for me to go down, Hahaa!
Venturing down the sleep token rabbit hole you go, chokehold by sleep token should be your next one to know and react to .
Can I just say II's drumming on this track is insane too. Especially the last fill at the end. 🙏

Great drums. Sound and phrasing.

Love these reactions and analysis... I'd recommend Sleep Token's 'Take Me Back to Eden' for you next.
An untapped source of content for music reactors, vocal couches in particular, is the band Fair to Midland.
Huh...I thought Sleep Token was just very heavy all the time. I guess because I saw "the Charismatic Voice" had Will Ramos over to listen to it. I do expect them to go heavy at times. You can hear hints of it even in this one. Anyway! This was very interesting, start to finish. Even the title. I wonder what drew them to telomeres of all things.
Thank you for the video!
