I really like this! It puts things in perspective. I like when you give the litteral translations instead of just the English structure. It helps to actually think in Chinese instead of trying to translate.

This video is excellent. You have taught us the vocabulary for cooking a simple dish using all the basic ingredients found in a Chinese kitchen. I hope you can do more cooking videos and teach the vocabulary for making tea/coffee in Mandarin. I learned a great deal of Mandarin words and phrases from this one video alone.

    我很喜歡你的影片,李老師!我覺得這個教中文的方法很有趣,你一定應該繼續這樣做!我有一些問題;你說“米飯一碗”,也可以說“一碗米飯”嗎? 還有呢,你說 “把雞蛋放進鍋子裡”; 既然“放進”的意思已經是 “put into”, 你為什麼也用 “裡”?希望你能幫我明白得更清楚!謝謝你老師!

Ms. Katrina!!! Another video well done! This is really fun! I can also hear it in your voice that you enjoyed filming this as well. It's so much fun to learn this way. I think I can remember tones and vocabulary easier because we're like talking/practicing how to speak Mandarin in real life situations. More videos like this, please!

Thanks so much! I'm a retired school teacher and the ultimate way to learn is by doing! Here is the simple key for successful and long-term retention of new information: the more neurons that are activated, the more chances for the new information to stick! This is the reason that physically writing down notes, as the muscle movements are using more neurons, vision (70% of the brain is for processing visual data), self-repeating and putting in one's own words, and associative memories with emotions (high emotions are keen learners: enjoy learning!) Basically, using more neurons than just passively reading off a monitor which is radiant light (like looking at the sun, not natural for our brain and uses less neurons), whereas, reflective light (all our environment) processing is our normal, high level neural activities and functions.

    Can I ask u a favor?
    You're really good.
I was wondering if maybe u can consider doing a 30 day or 15 day mandarin speaking course on UA-cam.
Maybe teach us how to be a little conversational in a month or two weeks.

I'm very curious to better understand the "if this, and this, then that" combination of word creation. For example: Doesn't 玉 mean Jade? How would that combine with 米 "rice" or "meter" to make "corn?" The literal translation should be "Jade Rice." How is this method taught to children? (I have a feeling I'm over-thinking it.)
