I purchased a 2018 Pioneer 700 from a friend and it only had 600 miles on the odometer. I have been a Yamaha fan for the past 15 years with 2 Yamaha 450 Kodiaks. The Yamahas were basically bullet proof for the years I owned them. When I started looking at side by sides the Honda jumped out at me because it has an actual transmission and not a belt drive. A friend and his son both have Pioneers and so far they have not had any problems running tracks on them which they use in logging and trapping. I like the ability to choose from auto to manual shifting and since my model is a deluxe it has power steering. The only thing I don't like is that the battery is located under the seat on the passenger side. I have a winch that I purchased and have found a battery box at the parts house and I will be mounting that under the hood in front along with a battery isolator and a battery switch. I don't think you can go wrong with a Pioneer.
@@donschlonski2936 I am taking a 7 day camping trip in north central Idaho and I want my 4500 lb. winch and all the other accessories to be isolated from the starting battery. And to add to the mix I have a CPAP machine. I'm also adding a solar panel..

Looking forward to more of your videos of this machine! I have a 2018 700/4 in same orange color, it is still stock except for aftermarket tires. I replaced the factory tires within 2 weeks of purchase with 27/9/12 Tusk Terrabites because them seek to be more grass friendly for what I use it for. I have other plans but not yet. Good luck!
Jimmy Abercrombie what would you recommend for hard packed dirt/mud roads. Im driving on mostly dry hard packed dirt/mud terrain here in my town. We dont have gravel or concrete. Just hard packed mud basically which gets soft when it rains. But i dont drive during rainy days cause i like too keep the pioneer clean for family rides.
One big thing I noticed when using Honda's website to configure. There is no option to add a heater on the base model. This is only available on the deluxe version, at least on the website. For me, out here in rural Maine, I really want to have a heater installed
No difference between the deluxe and base model that would prevent you from installing a heater. You do technically have to install the aux electrical system with voltage gauge and switch panel to install the OEM heater. I may try and come up with a heating system on my own this fall. The Honda system is overpriced.
Nice review - ok I’m ready to pull the trigger on the 2021 base model / any regrets or still satisfied? I’ve gone out of my way to avoid anything belt driven and I’ve always had good luck with Honda products-
@@farmerwood Nope I tried the dealer here is shitty. They told me they would call me when they got one in. I checked back and offered to put money down. No luck they had no idea when they would get more and said it could be 3 months. I bought a 570 Ranger. I love it. Except for the shifter. Hard to get in gear at time for my kids. And the box sucks to open and close. Other than that it's very smooth and fast. Honda would have been my first choice though. Maybe next time.
I really liked this video. I'm debating purchasing this same year model. Granted it only has a top speed of around 43-44 mph, do you feel the engine is adequately powered? For a 675cc Rincon engine, it seems like it on paper at only around 38 horsepower I believe.
It has plenty of power for going slower on trails but if size doesn't matter, the 1000 is a much better machine. The 700 is smaller and works better for where I use it. It would benefit from more power but is adequate.
It's not necessarily about horsepower. It's about gearing. Look at a four horsepower mini bike they're very impressive. It's all about gearing. And top speed of 43 is more than fast enough for what you should be doing with this machine. If you're going any faster than that you don't belong here get a Jeep
Then you don't know what this machine is for. It's not supposed to go faster none of these side by sides are supposed to go that fast. They're not stable enough they're not meant for it and you shouldn't be doing it. Get a Jeep

What's wrong with the battery where it is? You should easily be able to hook a winch to that

Why do reviews never say the price? It would be so helpful to know the price we should be our target.
Well from what I've seen they can range from a couple grand to over $20,000. This one is probably around $10,000.
Nice looking machine, debating on weather to buy one or not.

It's a great machine. It would be better with a 5 speed transmission instead of 3, but that's the only thing I don't love about it.
Thanks for the info. Do you still like it? I’m stuck between that and a Polaris Ranger.
I love it. I'm biased but it is hands down better than a Polaris based on the transmission alone.

is there lots of room behind the steering wheel for a big gut?lol imight need a shoe horn to get in and out of it.
Decent amount of room. Lol
How did the transmission hold up on your 2016 700.
Is there a huge power difference between 700 n 1000..does the 700 turn the tires fast if need be
Huge difference. The 700 will turn them over. but not anywhere close to the 1000
Also the 1000 has a dual clutch transmission (6 speed I believe) where the 700 has a 3 speed auto with torque converter.
Is there more pioneer videos coming?

Do you have any issues with heat coming out from under the seat. Gets very hot. burns our legs.
Not on the 700
On my 1000 it got pretty hot
How are the tires doing for you. Mine are bald at 325 miles

Does the 2019 700 have a problem being weak on the take off or bottom end speeds and torque
Not at all
I think that was when they first came out and then they revised it in 2015 and now they have 2 spark plugs
Have they fixed the heat problems under the seat ?
The 700 never had heat problems. I think you are thinking of the 1000, which got very hot under the seat
