- If you love the look of a MacBook and want to give your iPad more of a laptop feel while adding in a row of function keys and utilizing the BIGGEST multi-touch trackpad on the market, you've got to check out the Brydge 12.9 MAX+ keyboard case. In this video I compare it vs the Logitech Combo Touch and Apple's Magic Keyboard.

You dont skip a beat with the cool looking caps…especially the black one you had for the beats studio buds review it was 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
They need to make a case like this with the 360 rotating screen
FINALLY a reviewer who commented on the use of non-brydge screen protectors. was looking for confirmation on this everywhere!
Great review… I actually just finished up using the combo touch for the last week. I just didn’t care for it. Basically, you had to be on a flat surface or it was falling off the magnetic keyboard, etc. I’ve also had the magic keyboard from apple as well, it’s certainly better than the combo touch. I went ahead and purchased this, pretty please so far! Thanks for the great insights!
Yes im also curious, how do you like your keyboard after all these months?
Really love your videos, Chris. You’ve influenced a lot of iPad, iPhone, and more, accessories purchases in my Apple Journey the last few years. Keep up the great content!
Great to hear!
This is the most asthetic looking keyboard 🖤
yeah right
aesthetic, and how?
It's someone else's opinion and I agree. Draw your own conclusions people. Great video and more than enough information to do so.
I wish it was a smart connector keyboard like the Logitech
I bought this Brydge after my comment below. First irritation: the screen swings below the level of the bottom of the keyboard (see 2:00), so if using on your lap the sharp edge cut into your kneecaps. Second: my trackpad could not, under any circumstance, recognize a "zoom-in" gesture (it could zoom out); I could use the screen to do it. The third: after a few weeks it started making clicking noises when I opened it, then finally both hinges failed catastrophically (plastic). So, its in the trash now, expensive mistake.
Did you not talk to them about replacement or refund? If after a few weeks, its certainly still in warranty. I'm using the original non trackpad with little clamps right now on my 2018 12.9--I have the Magic Keyboard case on my 2021 12.9 Pro and am trying to find out how common the hinge issue is on the Max+. Use it a lot in my lap and both keyboards work well, balanced enough and I touch type pretty fast. Have seen issues with Magic having peeling issues with soft material on keyboard--so considering Brydge again rather than one of my external keyboards and trackpad that tie me to a desk LOL>
I just bought the new air max + they made for the iPad Air 4. Can’t wait to try it out
Do you have a link where to buy it?
Another fine video review Chris. And yes the podcasts you do are great narratives of the in-between the videos as well as some editorial on some videos that you shoot in the same week as the podcast, more or less. Thanks again!
I have a Surface Pro and a Brydge for it. It's pretty great and I haven't looked at the included keyboard much since. The only downsides of that device are waking the keyboard up, and getting the Surface Pro out of it. Looks like Brydge has solved both of these problems with the 12.9 Max+ and I will be looking at one of these for my iPad Pro.
I love that they got rid of the clips, that’s the only thing that was stopping me from getting the older models. I already have a magic keyboard but still I wonder how much this weighs with the iPad in it.
I wish they make one for the iPad Pro 11” ASAP.
EDITE: Brydge has debuted its latest keyboard, the Brydge 11 Max+
@Varang Pratap Singh Yes it will work but it’ll be kinda weird I guess.
They have the Brydge Pro+ and Brydge Air Max+ both of which work for the 11-inch iPad Pro.
I also wish the 11 inch one looked like this but unfortunately it has a weird design im not to fond of
@@davidempire4874 Yeah I know but it’s not gorgeous like the 12.9 Max+ , am not fan of the hinges on the Brydge Pro+, Maybe I will go with the Air max+.
@Varang Pratap Singh In other way it’s Bluetooth it will work lmao
I bought this one because it fitted better with my space grey then the magic keyboard. Here it was cheaper then the magic so thats also why. It really gived a laptop feel this keyboard.
I get my silver Brydge keyboard next week. The magic keyboard is nice but the brydge looks premium!
Not having mine yet is the only thing I don’t like about my new M1 iPad, once have that will be complete. Went for the white as I love to use my iPad outside in the summer so maximum sun reflection was my main reason. Want that lap angle for when commuting (when that returns) but also the 90degree angle is ideal for watching stuff outdoors in the sun. Currently have to prop my 2017 iPad Pro with apple keyboard up artificially in my sunshade to minimise reflections (another reason for not going apple this time)
Great video. Keyboard has some shortcomings compared to Apple’s keyboard due to Bluetooth but I love that look since I’m typing on it all the time. I wish they make the 11inch version!
Shoot, they don’t make it for the 11”?
@@msjenniferracy Nope! Well maybe not yet? Right now they recommend the 11 inch pro with the iPad Air keyboard. It snaps on like this but looks kinda cheap. Not as nice looking as this case sadly.
They’ve just announced an 11-inch version (should work with the Air too).
FWIW I have a Brydge keyboard for my old 10.5 inch iPad Pro which connects via Bluetooth, and it has never missed a single beat. With the instant-on thing the Max versions have I suspect you may not even notice the difference, at least where typing is concerned.
@@tmb8807 that’s awesome I’m going to have to pre-order one now. I’m so excited. Thank you!!!
I think I saw in an other youtube video about de Brydge, that there is a dedicated button to turn of the trackpad while you are typing.
What video was that? I haven’t seen that. I saw it on another keyboard but so far nothing on brydge.
Is this true or not?
When you take it out of the keyboard case it stays connected though correct? Try to start using it as a tablet and it will still be thinking you’re using the external keyboard.
There’s a power button for easy on/off
Thanks for sharing an Apple Music playlist. Ive been looking for something new to listen to and so far the list you shared is pretty good.
I already have a Magic Keyboard for my 12.9 2018 Pro, but I want this one toooooooooo. I have the first gen Brydge Pro keyboard (without trackpad) and I honestly hated the typing experience. The key throw was too long for the mush feeling. Have they improved the typing experience since then?
You make awesome videos chris, looking forward for your future videos..😘😁
03:50 double tab on cntrl button !! WHAT ,, i didn’t know that
thank you very much
I am really confused. I got an M1 IPad Pro 12.9 this week but I can’t make a decision to which to go for Magic Keyboard,Logitech Combo Touch or Brydge 12.9 Max+. I like the immersive floating style of MK, the added protection & viewing angles of Logitech & the aluminum finish, lapability on the Brydge.
MK, I'm using it since April's 2020. 😬
been using this keyboard for the past couple months, and honestly its a pretty good keyboard! a few cons to it but theyre so minor that theyre not even that much of an inconvenience only thing about the 11 inch is that the dictation button doesnt exist on the keyboard but instead as a little button that pops up in the corner of the screen
Purchased this keyboard in January and for. The most part, it’s been working. However I have had several issues with the trackpad for which no reviewers seem to be mentioning. About 3-4 times a week, the trackpad will stop working. Bu that I mean if I move to to the left, right, up or down the cursor will just barely move or jump all over the screen. In order to get it to work I may have to press the power button on the iPad, turn off Bluetooth on my iPAd, or reboot the iPad. Software is up to date as well as I’ve reinstalled the keyboard software.
In fact while writing this, it has happened twice. I also turned the tap feature off due to if I’m not mistaken it disable pinch zoom.
I know this is an old response but here goes I would unpair it reboot the iPad then pair it up again.
@@dfiantii64 Thanks for the response. I've unpaired, rebooted and then paired many times and it still gets squirrley. I normally turn the keyboard off for about 5 seconds and then turn it back on.
@@davidanderson4705 well that sucks because im trying to venture into the iPad realm and I was looking at this keyboard case and the Logitech Combo Touch
Excellent review; thanks for the perspective. The one deficiency I find with this, and other keyboard reviews is that the actual weight of the device is not given. In the case of the Logitech, it would also help to divide that weight between the keyboard and the back, since the keyboard is detachable.
Love it but why-why-why would they remove the Lip notch available on every other keyboard case! Itwould make opening it SOOOO much easier!!
Brydge is evolving 💯
And great video man......🔥🔥
But sadly, both Logitech and brydge isn't available in India....
Soooooo..we have to stick with the apple magic keyboard😅
By the way... love from India 🇮🇳...... keep growing❤️
Ooo... thanks man🙏❤️
buy it online! usually it’s cheaper as well, but then if it isn’t available in your country, sellers may set the price to make it more expensive as it’s exclusive
I just got mine for a gen 3 12.9 and at first glance, it seems very nice. A lot better than my cheapo off Amazon that was the same price in 2019 as the Brydge now (70usd). Shame that the Brydge app is not available for download at the moment.
I got the Logitech combo and its perfect. Nothing beats this keyboard.
U prefer the Logitech 2 this?
Awesome video review! I bought this case exact case and … it lasted about 70 days from the day I received it. Main problem with this case and any cases of this kind is the hinge. Hinge is not made to last. It just doesn’t hold any angle on the day 85 of purchase and now I have to lean the back of a screen against something to continue my work while I get a replacement.
Were they able to cover it under warranty?
It’s really good but it would’ve been better if it had smart connector support :(
Gonna still need the combo touch for drawing though, but it looks cool.
Finally no more clamps! It just seems to 'wobble' much more than the Magic Keyboard while typing.
Great video and super helpful 🙏
I will be returning my Logitech, I can't see a way to open it without having to remove the Apple Pencil first (plus, yeah, its lousy on a lap). This looks like the right replacement.
I didn't like the Logitech at all!
Just watched an 8 minute ad about the Brydge keyboard.
Sweet. I need this for the iPad mini 6. Come on Brydge.
the fact of getting of the keyboard for artist can work but it would be really cool made their keyboards like surface keyboards that can flip all the way around.
I ordered one and I’m waiting for it to ship. I also have the current Brydge keyboard so I’m wondering how it compares to that one.
How it works? Did you like it? 👀
@@Nino3580 I do enjoy using it. Sometimes the trackpad glitches but otherwise I love it despite the weight of it as well. Hope this helps you out.
@@jajacobs2 Thank you so much! 🧡
Great review! Very informative and well presented. Question about the keys on the Brydge? Are they nice and smooth, or do they feel scratchy under the fingers? I had an older “hinged” Brydge keyboard and its keys were awful, they just felt really ‘scratchy’ under the fingers. So i hope they’ve sorted that out with this new device.
I haven't noticed any "scratchiness"
@DailyTekk can you make a review of Brydge Air MAX+ thank you
I wish something like this for lenovo, i don't like folio stand style keyboard cases. Im mainly on my laptop but i do like relaxing on tablet on my bed but hate using touchscreen for typing.
I don't like that you can't 'securely' store the ipad pencil, which I've had to replace because I lost it.
I think you mentioned it very shortly but are you able to draw on the iPad without it slipping away if you close the Brydge and pop the iPad on the back?
I am pretty sure that the back is rubbery.
What frustrates me is that no matter which one I pick I have to take the tablet out of its protective case first every time I wanna use the keyboards. Maybe getting a magnetic case would make it easier at least..
For me I’ll stick with the Zagg keyboard with its protective case, I’d rather use a standard mouse over a trackpad anyhow.
This is what I do and it’s great super easy!
But most importantly.. can I use this on my lap while chilling on my couch?
Yes ofcourse
I am becoming a fan of iPad pro and your videos
Oh if you get to the 4:30 mark you get your answer. It is not good. I have not had an opportunity to play with this keyboard, however after hearing this review, you can tell that there is a build up and eventually ends on disappointment. I don’t understand why reviewers don’t get to the point right away. If you’re going to spend the money on a keyboard, might as well go without Apple’s magic keyboard. Nothing else compares to it and I believe Chris knows that.
Thx for your review. I will it order, when the German Layout is available .
Plz… inform me too 😂🥰❤️
Did you get it in the end?
Very nice review.. thanks!
Can you switch the keys if you live in different countries?
Can I still connect to my Bluetooth speaker for music at the same time while using keyboard?
I was looking forward to receiving my Brydge 12.9 Max+ keyboard but after weeks/months of delays I have just cancelled my order and purchased an Apple Magic Keyboard. Brydge support has been useless and have just kept asking me to be patient. Unfortunately patience ran out …
Hey! So how does this work if the iPad has a protective slim case? I want to use this just for typing but I rather have my slim case when doing artwork.
Im a pretty big stickler most times I refuse to use anything other than OEM Apple Products but this one does look pretty cool lol I cant stand the Kickstand design of things like the ComboTouch, just feels too cheap
Great video as usual!
I appreciate that
Great review. Thank you. The Brydge is a very good keyboard in sense of funcionality. There is only one downside but this downside is very cruitial. After using the keyboard for about 4-6 weeks the hinge is cracking. Send it back. Got another one but the same problem. So I cannot recommend this keyboard at all.
What is your take on it since June 2021 in November 2021? Have firmware updates made it better since June 2021? Is the bottom edge of the iPad in danger of rubbing against the keyboard case edge (near the hinge)?
Are there any cases that would work with it? Like the Cover Buddy or Pitaka?
Hey I have iPad Pro 12. inch 2 Generation can I use that Bridge case ?
I am new to all of this iPad stuff, even though I need on...
So I noticed you said 12.9 MAX... that is different from the iPad Pro?
Thank you for this great video...
Max is the name of the keyboard FOR the iPad Pro. Brydge makes keyboards called the 12.9 Pro+ and the 12.9 Max+. This is the 12.9 Max+
@@CartyCreative
Right! I realized that after I sent the message.
Thank you for your fast reply... I feel so lost about iPads right now... but I love that keyboard with the speaker, or mic rather. Did you say it can dictate? That would help so much.
Again, "Thank YOU" for such a great video.
He Chris, about the Brydge 12.9 MAX+.
Can it be used together with the MagEZ case from Pikata?
With the magic keyboard for iPad Pro 2020,I can’t type more than 1 word in gmail and several other apps. Once I hit the space bar, the whole page highlights and I have to pull up the iPads on screen keyboard to finish typing. Have you run across this issue?
Is there any kind of bumper that can be added to this to go on the outside in a scenario you may go out and about
the design is good, the form factor is good
but what happened to the earthquake shaking when typing.......
Do you think the keyboard would work with a dbrand skin on the back of the iPad?
I think it does
They mention it can fit with a screen protector. Don’t see why it can’t fit with a skin as well.
Unfortunately the track pad on the 11 inch current model is quirky (even with the latest “native multitouch” update) for lack of a better term. It’s not nearly as smooth as the magic keyboard or even apples Bluetooth Magic Trackpad. I pre ordered one so i really hope the experience is better one this one. There must be a secrets API or something that apple does not give third party access too. That is why the apple product will always be a superior experience. But i guess that’s just the way it will always be.
There’s an app to update the trackpad, I almost returned it before discovering it.
It’s also quirky on the 12.9
Why would you need a track pad if the screen is touch?
Love my brydge. Tried logitech - flopped all over the place.
dear friend; my ipad is 11inch ;does brydge have keyboard like that for 11inch gen2 ???
Hi looking forward for this iPad Pro 2021, but could get GoPro max videos 5.6k and edited by LumaFusion and export the same 5.6k res to photo album instead of just 4k ?
Can I connect the Apple TV to the M1 iMac to project the iPad Pro (without the black barriers for the aspect ratio)? Does it work? I’ve neither the Mac mini or Macbook and I’ve thought of this combo but I don’t know if it could work…
Is there also a 11 inch size version and is it also available in space grey🦇?
I want to get the Brydge for my keyboard. My question is: is there a somewhat protective outer casing I can put on the ipad when I don't have it on its keyboard for times when I want to draw on it? Recommendations? (Sorry this is like over a year in responding and asking. I'm fairly new at apple. Late bloomer I guess. lol)
From day one it was clear to me that using the on screen turned the a powerfull tool into a weather and googling machine. I first purchased a Logitech clam type keyboard. I replaced it under warranty because it was going to shreds. The second did the same. Then I found the Brydge keyboard. Wow! You could type on retro lighted keyboard, angle it the way you want. With the function keys it ipad was close to turning it into a computer MacBook. My Ipad is an old generation. The latest models now have the usb c (thunderbolt). You can plug an external drive, screen etc. This would mean for me that a new ipad be my everyday machine, dump my laptop and try to figure out how to replicate word and excel (not the office for mac, our the weak apple suite). Can anybody suggest an app with strong excel functions with the possibility to export to Microsoft. Not everybody is an Apple person. Thanks
Try Numbers for Excel and Pages for Word. They work seamlessly with Microsoft
How many times have you had the Brydge replaced under warranty now because of the hinges cracking? :)
hey the ipad os versions of office apps are fully functioning mirrord of their microsoft alternatives. you should be fine using their products with the current ipad os!
Hope your all well, does anyone know if after putting a thin case on the iPad if it would still fit into the keyboard? Thanks
I write manuscripts/screenplays... can we use the speaker/mic to type, like if I was doing my manuscript... (can you tell I'm so new to all of this... Please HELP)
Thank you.
Yes. With a decent amount of accuracy. Not perfect though.
Did you install the brydge app to get the best out of the track pad?
I love the brydge keyboard, its not that flexy type feel like the old surface pros. I still don't understand how they haven't implanted a keyboard that takes advantage of the USB c port to add more ports to a keyboard like this. Im a photographer i have stuff to pop in and out to be productive.
What keyboard do you recommend?
Just bought this, and I think it is nice, but HEAVY. One issue that I think I may return it over is the trackpad. The whole 25% top row of the trackpad is unclickable. I find this unacceptable. I think I'll try the Logitech next.
Does the white dirty easily? Or has it held it up so far?
Is anyone having an issue connecting this keyboard to the ipads bluetooth? For some reason after I factory reset my ipad it the keyboard stopped showing up on bluetooth and won't even signal it's ready to connect
Very nice keyboard. Won’t it damage the iPad overtime when opening and closing knowing it’s aluminum
Is there delay in typing due to it being bluetooth?
Where can I buy it? Link please. Thank you?
is it possible to switch to azerty mode on this keyboard? thank you!
Any newer version of brydge case?
Combo touch would be perfect if it didn’t have that flimsy kick stand that over time pulls the back fabric off at the crease.
Mouse stopped working on my Brydge 12.9. Any suggestions?
Does anyone know if the PITAKA Magnetic Case works with the Brydge keyboard?
I think bridge has missed a great opportunity to make the keyboard better here, since it’s using Bluetooth to connect, they should’ve made it able to support multi device. Imagine if you can also use it with your iPhone on the side.
Reminds me of the early 2015 Mac book pro
Is this case available for the iPad Air 22?
Brydge should use the Smart Connector.
From what I gather Apple may have given some opportunities to Logitech that weren’t given to Brydge or other companies
@@Dailytekk Apple should buy Brydge or start a Logitech-style partnership with them. What Apple could do with this design is limitless. For example, Apple could add the same keys they currently use in the Magic Keyboard, as well as a Force Touch trackpad, perfect for macOS. They could also easily add Smart Connector support, considering this keyboard already connects magnetically. They could add pass-through charging, like the Magic Keyboard, perhaps on both sides of the keyboard, they could add a Touch ID sensor to the power button to support dual authentication like Windows PCs and allow for users to unlock their iPad with a mask, and finally, they could add an external battery inside the keyboard to double the battery life of the iPad Pro so it is on par with the M1 MacBook Pro. This could even pave the way for the first "MacPad".
@@davidempire4874 that’s a terrible idea. Just because of apple been involved I can see this going for $100 more then the current apple keyboard case. I csn see it already new apple iPad Pro, pro level keyboard (brydge keyboard with smart conector apple logo) for a small donation of $450 🙄. No thanks lol. I have had their gen 1 since 2018 no issues. Bluetooth has never been an issue.
@@thatprcrawlerguy187 This could allow the iPad Pro to run macOS and be a real 2-in-1 MacBook.
Can you use it with the pitaka iPad Pro case?
Just to be helpful, you really ought to clarify that you’re having issues using the Logitech case in your lap specifically with the 12.9” iPad Pro. Twice now, I believe, you’ve said it’s virtually impossible to type with it in your lap, but that is not at all the situation with the 11” iPad Pro. I’m using mine with the Logitech combo in my lap to type this right now, as a matter of fact. It’s completely fine, sturdy, and comfortable to use this way, once again proving how the smaller Pro is the one iPad to rule them all.
Keep thinking that way if it makes you happy.
Ah, had the original with the lightning port 12.9 version and didn't even consider Logitech because of the kickstand and I only use a 12.9--in my lap. But good to know you like the Logitech for the 11".
Where can you buy the brydge keyboard ?
The older gen byrdge was terrible the hinges would scratch the tablet eventually and the bumpers tuber would wear badly
Nice but does not protect the iPad 100% and also I do not like the bouncy affect when tapping on the screen. Gotta be solidly sturdy. Nice presentation, however. Thank you.
