  • New for the iPad Pro 2021, the Brydge 12.9 Max Plus (aka 12.9 Max+) delivers an XL trackpad and a classic Brydge typing experience, all for $249, but is it worth purchasing? Let's find out!
    Preorder the 12.9 Max+ from Brydge: geni.us/zw4t
    ================
    Available for pre-order now, the Brydge 12.9 Max plus retains the classic typing experience that Brydge is known for and includes a 5.5" multitouch trackpad that is integrated with iPadOS and works with the 3rd, 4th, and the iPad Pro 5th gen.
    With a like-for-like functionality with the gestures offered by iPadOS, the trackpad performs as one would expect for any other trackpad including trackpads that use the Smart Dock Connector like the Magic Keyboard from Apple and the Combo Touch from Logitech.

    Apple should buy Brydge or start a Logitech-style partnership with them. What Apple could do with this design is limitless. For example, Apple could add the same keys they currently use in the Magic Keyboard, as well as a Force Touch trackpad, perfect for macOS. They could also easily add Smart Connector support, considering this keyboard already connects magnetically. They could add pass-through charging, like the Magic Keyboard, perhaps on both sides of the keyboard, they could add a Touch ID sensor to the power button to support dual authentication like Windows PCs and allow for users to unlock their iPad with a mask, and finally, they could add an external battery inside the keyboard to double the battery life of the iPad Pro so it is on par with the M1 MacBook Pro. This could even pave the way for the first "MacPad".

    I know it all depends on how you prefer to get your work done. I have owned an iPad Pro's and I have also owned laptops. The device I feel that merges both an iPad point of view and still maintains the feel of a working desktop is the MBA M1. Why I feel this way is because now with the M1, you can now use iPad-supported apps on your laptop. Some of the apps I use to use on my iPad have transferred over to the MBA and it's been wonderful. At the end of the day, spending that kind of money on an iPad and shelling out additional money to make that iPad into a laptop, I just saved my money and bought an MBA M1 and have not looked back since.

    Hi Michael, love your videos.
    How is the Bluetooth connection experience? I read that they put in an “instant on” sort of feature that puts the connection on low power to have a period of time where it feels very similar to having a physical data connection for responsiveness. In practice does that feel effective?
    Also, how is the range of key backlighting?

    • @ItsCaputo
      @ItsCaputo  3 роки тому

      Hi Eric, appreciate the feedback. Yes this is correct that the Bluetooth connection is placed into a dormant mode and the timeout period is *long*. I’m looking for a unique way to demonstrate this. Practically speaking, it’s pretty much the real deal.

    I really want to get my hands on one of these. Right now, I’m using the TypeCase Edge, and it works okay, but I like the idea of a separate function row as opposed to combining the functions with the number row like on the TypeCase and others. One question. Is there any way to emulate standard function keys, like those for Windows and Mac? This would be handy, since I want to use remote desktop apps on the ipad, but am totally blind, so I depend on using the keyboard for everything. It would be nice if instead of, or in addition to the special iPad functions, the keyboard could be used to send standard F keys, for commands like alt f4 to close a program, shift f10 to simulate a right click when a keyboard doesn’t have the applications key, etc. If there is some way to pull this off, the iPad pro could manage to be that one device for everything. Until then, I’m stuck bringing along both the iPad plus my Windows laptop when I travel. One more thing… where is this dedicated Siri button located? Would be good to know this, so when I get the case, I don’t keep triggering it on accident.

I was using the keyboard that ESR made, but it started having issues with the Bluetooth disconnecting without warning. Back to the Apple Magic Keyboard right now, but hope that this bridge keyboard works well. I know that if Apple switches to the kickstand type of keyboard for the next iteration of the iPad Pro, I will be looking at third-party options because I am unable to use a kickstand style unit on my lap and I do use the iPad on my app a lot with intention to type.

    it sucks that brydge is no longer going to be making products, i just purchased this keyboard but for the 11 inch ipad pro and honestly im loving it so far, the keyboard is nice to type on, havent noticed any lag so far, the track pad is nice, the function keys are also a nice add to it, one thing i dont like about it tho is how difficult it can be to open it up to use it as the little tabs is has on the side doesnt prove to be much use. i have also noticed that if you go to use the tabs to try and open it, the ipad is just a little bit too heavy and the magnetic seal that the cover uses to hold the ipad onto it is too weak and the top will just disconnect itself from the ipad leaving the ipad just laying down flat on the keys.other than that, its a pretty nice little keyboard for 200$
