@@emilymatthews2990 Holy f'ing SHIIIIIIIIT, _THANK_ you!! She's not been afraid to see to the fragile CORE of what the cinematic blood-curdling scream really IS, and is ABOUT - that terrifying, shocking, awe-inspiring, terrible, fitful, thin, piercing rebel YELL, by a slender, fragile screamer of a vulnerable but interesting character that is the bacon, IS the beef that we're petrified by and fascinated by. And if Sissy Spacek didn't do that first, I'm simply ignorant to who might've. She was Ann of Green Gables, gone freckly scream queen. Good Gawd - You absolutely NAILED it, girl. Thanks.
It's crazy seeing Mia Goth go from Nymphomaniac to A Cure for Wellness to Suspiria, then over to Emma and now playing dual roles in X! Not to mention young Pearl here. I'm totally here for the film career trajectory! 👏👏👏
This movie was amazing! My favorite A24 film ever. It was so uncomfortable, unsettling, disgusting, and yet beautiful and speaks to those old and young. Shows the darkside of humanity and the slow process of going “insane, psycho”. Sensitive and yet so cold. Brutal and creepy. Art of one Shadow.
This is why I whenever I recommend any horror movies to anyone I ALWAYS bring up A24 being the best in that genre. The sinister fear of the expected yet unexpected just rattles my deep love for the genre, as disturbing as it is to many people. They do it like none other and I praise them for them. Mia Goth is going to be just absolutely legendary in this and I hope for once they receive an Oscar. The quality they put out is incomparable to the rest. They outdo themselves each and every time. Truly amazing.
I think A24 like Blumhouse have helped the horror genre evolve again by making their films more about the characters and story then just gore and guts, don’t get me wrong like guts and gore but without good character psychology and story the guts and gore become meaningless
Mia Goth is such a underrated talented actress. To start her debut in Nymphomaniac was a brave move and yes she has done other movies that require nudity she’s brave dedicated to her work. She has that similar look to Shelly Duvall.
And thankfully, she gets to work with someone like Ti West, unlike Shelley Duvall whose mental health was ripped to shreds by an egomaniac like Stanley Kubrick.
"From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matthew 4:17 "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:39|

I just watched this film without knowing that it was a prequel and, I have to say, it stands incredibly well on its own. You really aren't required to watch "X" before watching "Pearl." Though, I will definitely watch "X" after seeing this masterpiece! The story and characters (especially Pearl herself) are excellent and very well written. The titular character is a perfect embodiment of dangerous ambition and delusion of grandeur while also demanding some form of compassion from the audience, as Pearl's hopes, dreams and wants are relatable enough to invoke empathy. Even though that empathy flies right out the window the moment she impales another poor soul with a pitchfork, haha. The acting performances of Mia Goth are nothing but surreal! I've never seen her on screen before, but I will definitely keep her on my radar as she's a force to be reckoned with, an absolute marvel to watch explode (you'll know what I mean after seeing this). What more is there really for me to say? This film simply ticked all the right boxes and then some! I couldn't recommend it enough!

Pearl has that down to earth approach and oddly disturbing and entertaining at the same time. Any horror fan needs to watch this film. Great job Mr. Ti West.
"I want to be loved from as many people as possible" Wow! So we have a horror movie about a narcissist woman who resents the mediocrity of her life and aspires to greatness and she is willing to do anything to elevate her social status, to feel "loved". But she's clearly insane. She herself isn't aware that what she wants or cares about isn't love. She just wants admiration. She wants to be worshiped. This looks like a great villain. And it's psychologically accurate too.
I agree. I wonder what the 3rd film will be like . Maybe 70s grind house or 80s slasher . ti said he was doing something different w/ each film kind of depending on the time it takes place. I loved how X played out like a even more twisted and jaded John waters film w/ the exploitive film and this one has a late 30s to 40s films that looked so beautiful at times .

Holy f'ing SHIIIIIIIIT, _THANK_ you!! Been WONDERING just what in the motherFUCK was so incredibly *perfect* about Mia in this here horror genre, of which she just became the gold standard overnight, inside of just 1 or 2 movies...
She’s starting to become a favourite Scream queen of mine. What a resume!
Pearl was a disgusting person & I'm curious about Howard
Omgosh ME TOO. She's just perfect in her roles... Mia Goth has that X Factor
dont forget highlife
She’s rad
This movie was amazing! My favorite A24 film ever. It was so uncomfortable, unsettling, disgusting, and yet beautiful and speaks to those old and young. Shows the darkside of humanity and the slow process of going “insane, psycho”. Sensitive and yet so cold. Brutal and creepy. Art of one Shadow.
Pearl is like a disturbing R rated version of Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast combined.
@@josefengelhardt2767 I got Joker meets Whatever Happened to Baby Jane vibes.
What's A24? I just got here after seen a post elsewhere. Looks like a movie I should watch

X was stupid, perverted movie. Not cinema in the slightest.

i’m counting down the days for your video haha
I feel like this movie is the prequel to X, anyone else get that vibe?
IFC midnight is way better

Mia Goth is such a underrated talented actress. To start her debut in Nymphomaniac was a brave move and yes she has done other movies that require nudity she’s brave dedicated to her work.
She has that similar look to Shelly Duvall.
I came here to say this about Shelley Duvall. She is reading like this generations SD for sure. I'm so here for it!
And thankfully, she gets to work with someone like Ti West, unlike Shelley Duvall whose mental health was ripped to shreds by an egomaniac like Stanley Kubrick.
Nymphomaniac is an epic movie about nympho. It's amazing, it's one of my favorite movies which made by the legendary Lars Von Trier.
Who was she in Nymphomaniac?

@@trollala_555 I agree, that she is so clearly overacting in several places. The long monologue scene, while written beautifully and gets to the core of her character, I would never believe that her character would spontaneously come up with all that. And very nice of Mitsy to let Pearl finish her "Oscar bait speech". And the smile at the end that people keep raving about, just doesn't fit at all. Yes, it's creepy, but it is also so clearly overacted it becomes laughable. I think Mia Goth still did a great job with many scenes in the movie, and she is a talented actress, but she clearly tried too hard at times.

Though, I will definitely watch "X" after seeing this masterpiece!
