- I tackled the famous Bridport to Bellingham 4x4 Track in my 2020 Mazda CX-9 Azami. Did I make it through? You'll have to watch and see. Spoiler alert! I did, but not without getting bogged a couple of times. I honestly believe that with the right tyres, the CX-9 would've made it through without getting bogged at all. What a great AWD Crossover!
Deeeeeym. We just got our CX9 Executive 2024 the other day. And seeing this video just adds more satisfaction for having our new CX9. Definitely worth it.
Best Real life Off-road I've ever seen . Suggestion: submit it to Mazda R&D division. Exemptional Work.👍👍
That was awesome. I'm going to do a 1.5" lift and some all terrains on mine soon and take it on some trails.
Pretty remarkable that you made it to almost every place that Land Cruiser 200 Series did without significant help and in what appears to be highway tires. Imagine what you could’ve conquered with 18” wheels and larger AT tires. Very nice!
Cheers for that. The 19" rims with low profile road tires were definitely the Achilles heel of the Mazda. The all wheel drive capabilities were really surprising.
@@LochieOReilly I just got a 2022 CX-9 Carbon Edition. Comes with 20” wheels. Won’t be doing any off-roading with it just yet, but it’s nice to see how capable the AWD system is. Keep up with the good content 🤙🏼
@@bmbrabus I've taken mine to the snow a few times with the video I shared here, being the iciest I've seen and it handled it, again with the standard road tires, with no issues whatsoever. You'll enjoy your CX-9 even if you're not going off road. The power it has for such a large car is great. Highway driving crazy quiet and smooth.
@@bmbrabus Same here. I got a cx-9 and was like, I wonder if anyones tried to go offroading in one of these.
On paper, it should do pretty good off pavement. Almost 9 inches of ground clearance. I'm surprised but not surprised.
Great video !!
Thank you for this awesome review,,,,
When you bogged,, did you try to use Off-Road Assistance button?? does it help ??
Also, what was tyres pressure ??
i know these many questions, but it coming from my experience in Saudi Arabia desert soft sands.
by the way i have the same model (Signature) edistion but didn't try it on soft sands.
@@boyosof I did use the off-road assist which seemed to help and being low profile road tires, I let them down to about 17psi but you really couldn't tell any difference.
@@LochieOReilly i think it is better to use ramp boards like “X Bull”, it is very useful on soft sands
AT tires def would have made a world of difference, but I also wonder if the new off road mode would have made any difference. I read that all it does is turn off traction control?
Awesome video! Great editing and fun to watch! How much did you deflated the tyres? Pretty good AWD capabilities of the CX9! Got one CE'22 but I haven't dared to bring it off the highway yet 😄
Thank you. I let the tires down to about 17psi but because they're low profile tires, they just don't have enough of a side wall for it to really make any difference.
What type of tyres do you have?
Are they an all terrain tread or just a standard, general use tyre?
Did you turn off traction control? I have mine off when off roading and it doesn’t limit the power. I feel like you wouldn’t have bogged out if you had it off
hi it's been a year since, how does the AWD hold up? has it ever overheated and disconnected when you were using it?
I didn't have any issues with the AWD system at all since that day. Not so much as a warning light. 👍🏼
Has anyone lifted their cx9? Does lifting give it good ground clearance
Is that water you crossed around 3 minute mark not salty ? How does the car go afterwards
Yes it is salt water. The car ran fine and still does. With salt water and beach driving, you just have to make sure you give the car a thorough rince with fresh water afterwards. That crossing wasn't as crazy as the one towards the end of the video where the water came up over the bonnet. That was fresh water though.
if you only had better tires you probably be much better situation
For sure. The better traction and a little bit of extra height and it would've handled the sand no worries.
